Felt like a triple chapter.

Only feed oats in the winter, and not much even then. We can likely move the horses over to the north corral tomorrow so the grass stays healthy and thick, but there ain’t no need for hurrying.” There was an ad for the army back in the day that said “we do more by 9 a.m. than most people do all day” , that slogan applied to the life of a farmer first, especially one with little to no help. The naming convention for horses is fascinating, Is there a formula for it? They are always more fanciful than a “Spot” or a “Fido”; from the bit I watch around Kentucky Derby time, I was under the impression circuit horses names sometimes have connections to their sires or mares. So a part of Jubal’s past is named Vincent and seems like Vincent worked with wood; doesn’t sound like there were any mixed signals between them….there was a mutual attraction but Vincent made it clear he was going to choose a wife and family for his future, no doubt that put a scar on Jubal’s heart….looks like mistaken identity wound up putting a physical scar on him, too; was he almost lynched or killed for reaching out to the wrong guy? Porcupine jerky? I haven’t had gaming meats (unless you count goat, which is delicious) but Lawd, lol. Who knows, porcupine meat might be, too….I’ll just let someone else confirm that for me, lol. What the heck is Lucas about? With the flirting and open stares (especially naked!!) You can jabberjaw all you want about just friendship but there is a powerful attraction emanating from him for Jubal and it’s more than amicable….feels like love at first sight to me. There is a degree of trust in falling asleep next to someone, to fall asleep easily, well that speaks to an even deeper trust, fatigue notwithstanding….something tells me they’ll wake up entangled in each other some way. We got a lay of the land in Bearpaw and with Lucas, both have topographical twists and turns that can get you lost….or lead you down the path to home. What will greet our explorers with the sunrise? Will the roof be put on the new cabin before the sunsets? Are wild horses the only thing that will need to be tamed at Gold Rush Farm? Ironically, even though Gracie is most like Dayna & I have issues with the wife and sister she was, Gracie is my favorite kid, lol. I feel like Perry thinks he can get a do over with Gracie. “Perry squeezed her little guts out because he loved that she was clinging to him.” Even if she has her limits, lol: “The affection was too much. Perry would be Kyan’s all-you-can-eat-buffet. He was going to tick every one of Kyan’s unchecked boxes.” I know Dayna was tired being a working mother but I get more the impression that Dayna was deliberately keeping her and Kyan’s sex life one note-granted, Kyan was her only lover and she was pregnant for most of their marriage and each pregnancy can affect you differently but c’mon! I remember being horny af during several parts of my pregnancy. They could (and should) have experimented a little bit 🤏 Allll that pineapple, huh Perry? You wanted Kyan to get addicted to your spunk, LOL!! Better luck next time.

All caught up & totally engaged, was actually looking for more, lol. Looking forward to the progression of this relationship and Kit’s, Mitchell’s & Tomas’ reactions….there’s no moving forward without remembering the one who was there and is no longer; if we took what he did with Tomas at Sandro’s grave as an indicator, our Taylan would resoundingly endorse his husband moving on…. I just don’t know how he’d feel about his husband moving on with his nephew. There is more gravitas to Mitch as well, guess that comes from the grief. Nicely done, @Andr0gene. 🎁

I know if Taylan lived, this would never have been a possibility, Mitchell would’ve never considered it, Tom would’ve never considered it, Kit would never have considered it. I still miss Taylan but can see how this relationship would work….Life goes on, even after great loss. I recall Mitch being a bit of a horn dog, that looks like it’ll be a very compatible aspect between the two of them; it’ll still give me a little pause that Kit and his dad will share a lover. Okay, okay….I’m working on it, lol.

Tomas didn’t just become, he’s blossomed into an engaging, sophisticated young man who knows what he wants & isn’t afraid to get it; he’s almost unrecognizable, inside and out, from that wounded soul we met that very traumatic summer.

This was good.…Slowly warming up, lol. Seeing who Tomas became & seeing where Mitchell is, I realize that Kit actually acted out of great love for two of his great loves….it doesn’t seem as though Tom and Kit would’ve gone the distance regardless and Tom and Mitch have connections while still being virtually unknown to each other, as it was Taylan who was involved more in the day to day of their lives. I see the possibilities but it is still an adjustment, lol.

I’m still trying to reconcile this….I so saw Tom and Kit being Tay & Mitch, 2.0, even recognizing that first romances don’t usually last, I just saw forever with them….glad to know they broke up on good terms, so much so that Tom is good with Kit’s husband and their kids; it’s just I couldn’t foresee the possessive, alpha Kit (much like his dad) being okay with his first love starting a relationship with his father. Still so sorry Mitchell and Taylan’s forever was shorter than expected….how would he feel about his nephew and husband hooking up, will be a stumbling block for both of them? I miss him. Gotta say, if this was always a part of the trilogy, my pants were always going to be caught around my ankles, lol. Mind blown. Will you get into what broke Tom and Kit up & how Kit met Mischa?
