  1. I am very excited to share my brand new short story with you guys. This one is called FIREFLY and is available for free. I wrote this one in one sitting as it was one of those occasions where everything just fell into place in my head. It is darker than my previous short story so it'll be different. Hope you guys like it. Let me know what you think. For 14 year old Jon, the best thing about his friend Patrick is his good-looking older brother, Spencer. It’s just a crush, after all – what harm could come from wanting to spend a little more time with Spencer? But when Jon’s crush grows from love into obsession, all the usual boundaries become blurred – and he becomes willing to risk everything to get what he wants. My new ebook FIREFLY is now available for FREE. Follow the link to download your copy. https://www.smashwords.com/books/view/755179
  2. I think it depends on what you ordered. If you only got a coffee, then I don't think it's fair for you to stay more than a couple of hours. Also depends on how busy the place is. Sometimes Cafes prefer to have customers at the tables to encourage more people to come in.
  3. My favourite Doctor is David Tennant. His acting was off the charts and I loved the storylines of his time. I like Matt Smith as a close second, he brought something new and fresh to the role but unfortunately this is when the show started going downhill for me. The storylines became more and more ridiculous (even by Doctor Who standards) and the companions worsened. I didn't mind Amy, she was too over-the-top at the start but then they wrote her better. Rose is my favourite companion and Donna a close second. Clara is the only companion I dislike. Her character was poorly written and the show's overall writing also suffered. I was a big Doctor Who fan with the Reboot but the past 2 or 3 series have turned me off the show completely. Russell T Davies made the show awesome.
  4. Welcome, Steve! Hope you enjoy your time here!
  5. As in the DLCs?
  6. I have been playing this non-stop lately. I am really enjoying the game! I'm not one for shooters usually but I have seen a few videos and I was intrigued. I found the story fascinating from the opening scene. I haven't finished the story campaign yet (as I want to make this last as long as possible, lol) but I have also been playing a lot of the multiplayer action. I am very happy I gave this a go. Definitely worth the purchase! Oh and if you're interested, here's what my character looks like: (He's a Warlock) https://www.instagram.com/p/BZyd5DwlGiv/?taken-by=raphaelfarmer Anybody playing Destiny 2 here? Do you have a pic of your character?
  7. Thank you. That means a lot to me.
  8. Loved this song since I was a kid. They have some awesome gems in their discography.
  9. It sucks when you want to write but nothing seems to translate on the page (or Word Doc in my case, lol). To fight this problem I usually either let it go for the day and come back to it at a later point (either that night or the next day) or I put some music on and try to visualise what I want to write. Sometimes it helps to take your mind off of your project and before you know it, ideas will flood your mind. At least, that's what happens in my case.
  10. Don't get hung up on the little things.
  11. The hardest thing to do is keep listening to your heart. There are so many voices out there that can keep you down, making you think there is no point in following your passion or your dreams. Though those voices can sometimes come from a good place, it doesn't mean they should be listened to. I am glad that you stuck with your passion and never gave up. I aim to do the same. I love writing, I'm a storyteller. Congratulations on your achievements and on your soon-to-be second published novel.
  12. Happy Birthday! Hope it's a good one!
  13. I am very excited to announce that my eBook CARRIED AWAY is available now for FREE. Follow the link to get a copy. I truly hope you guys enjoy the read. Comments and reviews would be of course well appreciated. https://www.smashwords.com/books/view/745198 Mason has no friends - though it's not for lack of trying. He resigns himself to being a loner for the rest of his high school days - until popular Asher Raines stumbles into his world. Mason has a long-time crush on Asher, but he knows that boys who like other boys don't often get to have a happy ending. But could Asher Raines be a risk worth taking? Thank you for taking the time to read this blog post.
  14. Welcome Charael. Glad that you decided to be an active member. I hope you find the support you need here on GA. It is a lovely place filled with lovely people.
  15. It depends what I'm in the mood for. Sometimes, I want to read a story where I feel like the characters will find their way and reach a form of happiness by the end. But other times, I do want to feel the darkness and the tragedy of a story and let it engulf me in a less optimistic light. Stories that can do both of these things well are quite rare but they are usually the ones that I love the most. That's why I am a big fan of Stephen King's work, he tends to be able to merge these two aspects of character development quite masterfully.
  16. I think as long as the chapter keeps me hooked, I'll keep reading. It depends on the content rather than the length. I can read a 3,000 or 6,000 word chapter with the same interest if the story is interesting enough. Whereas a 1,000 word chapter can be a chore if I can barely get past a couple of lines without tuning out.
  17. I am from Australia. I would love to live in Japan. I love the culture. I know every country has its ups and downs but still, I would love Japan. I also have a fascination with American suburbia. Maybe it's the many movies and TV shows I've watched but there is something appealing about living in a place like Wisteria Lane (from Desperate Housewives). A village in England or France would be sweet too.
  18. I'm always reading a Stephen King novel. I haven't read them all yet but I'm slowly getting there. Otherwise, I tend to read several books at the same time. That's why I take forever to finish one.
  19. Welcome Paulo! I used to watch some cool shows from Brazil. For example, Torre de Babel. It was dubbed so that's how I could watch it, haha. Hope you enjoy your time here.
  20. Sorry to hear you're going through a rough patch. Just remember that the only way out is through. It'll be okay.
  21. I don't know how original this is going to sound but I've been blown away by Final Fantasy, Dragon Age, Mass Effect and the Tales of series. They have great stories and I always enjoy playing RPGs, whether Western or Japanese. There's a new game (old if you are a PC gamer) coming out soon called Pillars of Eternity and it is a story-heavy game. I can't wait for more RPGs to come out. Definitely my favourite genre of games. Otherwise, the Uncharted series does not disappoint when it comes to characterisation or story.
  22. Hello everyone. I'm Raphael and I'm excited to be on this forum. I have lurked around before but now I'm ready to dive in. I'm from Australia and I'm an author. I'm currently working on my first manuscript and a few short stories. I hope to publish my first short story soon and that's incredibly exciting and daunting at the same time. But in any case, I look forward to hanging out with you guys.
