We've warmed up to a whopping 19°F. If were lucky we might get to 22. If that happens I'll break out the flip flops 🤣. Don't believe him. I'm willing to bet he's got on more layers than an onion. Its his husband who would be ok strolling to the store in shorts in sub zero weather. Apparently @MichaelS36 is a walking furnace. Honestly.... not a bad skill set to have in the winter. Summer, not so much. Lol.

It was 7°F when I got up this morning. Yes, I'm wearing two pairs of socks 🤣🤣🤣

I will admit... if I have to chose, I'd much rather be cold than hot. Camden on the other hand... we have to literally pick him up and take him outside. He drove my MIL crazy crying to go out all day and then refusing to step off the porch. I had to walk him around the fenced in backyard this morning and he still stubbornly refused to do his business. Must be the dachshund in him. I guess I'm taking him to work with me tomorrow. Glad you got all your stuff sorted out tim.

Friday morning's temperature is forecast to be a balmy 8°F. 🥶😱😲 I'm questioning my life choices. 🤦♀️

Same here. My poor Florida born and raised pupper took one look outside and said "hell nah!" On an up note... driving in snow is a skill you dont lose. It still sucked though. Stay warm everyone!

Chapter 22 Bonus Snippet and Author's Note
kbois commented on kbois's story chapter in Chapter 22 Bonus Snippet and Author's Note
I'm working on it. I hit a massive writing slump in which I started 2 stories. Both stalled, one after 4 chapters and the other after 10. Hopefully, they'll speak to me at some point. Currently, I've got another story in the works and it seems to be moving along pretty well. The story idea is there in its entirety, I just have to put it together in my head. I miss having a story to post. -

Chocolate rice cakes are great when you just want a few bites. The caramel ones are good too. I successfully brought my MIL to the appliance store to get a new stove. I also convinced her to spend an extra $100 for the model with a steam cleaning feature instead of self-cleaning and a convection setting too... that'll be good when I want to air fry a bunch of stuff at once. Hubby did find my regular air fryer so that'll get used too. Have a good day everyone!

Ive seen a few deer since I've been back and apparently I've traded gators for bears. Haven't come across one yet though.

So.... on my way to work yesterday I noticed a new message on the big overhead thing they usually use to let you know if there's traffic or construction ahead. It said: WATCH OUT FOR DEER 25% OF ALL DEER CRASHES HAPPEN IN NOVEMBER I've been driving this route for the past two weeks and my first thought when I saw it was... huh, they could've told us at the beginning of the month instead of waiting until it was almost over. Tomorrow I have to brave the chaos that is my MIL's cellar and try and find my air fryer. Her oven died.... and guess who does all the cooking? Enjoy the rest of your weekend y'all!

November Signature Feature: When Opportunity Knocks by kbois
kbois commented on Cia's blog entry in Gay Authors News
I really do love these characters, especially the doggos. @Cane23.....I am a ONE cat person. Honestly, with all the drama I've been dealing with regarding my MIL and her nasty fur ball, its a wonder I haven't "accidentally" left the back door open. @drsawzall... now I want ribeye. @Jeff Burton enjoy! @chris191070 thanks! -
I got mine too.... what the ever-loving kind of torture chamber do you think we all belong in @Valkyrie? **scratches head and starts Googling all sorts of things related to a genre that could only have come from a truly evil mind**

Tuesday-- I sent a request thru the pharmacy app to refill MIL's cat's medication. Wednesday-- got a message they were reaching out to the vet to update her prescription as she had no refills. Thursday night -- MIL overheard me telling hubby that I have to call the vet in the morning because the meds are still pending approval from the vet. And so the drama begins. Friday morning-- I told her I would call the vet again when the office opened. Meanwhile she's flipping through her address book for the vets #. I called the vet when I got to work and had to leave a message. Got home... she said called and couldn't get a live person and she left a message (how understandable the message was is anyone's guess) Today-- MIL is now convinced the cat will die if she doesnt have her meds. I told her she would be fine, she just might be more hungry (its a thyroid thing). Nope... cat is on death's door. I went to my pool exercise class and when I got home what shocking news does she have? She called some vet and he told her the cat would be fine for a few days without her meds and might be more hungry than usual. SIGH. **bangs head against wall repeatedly**

I guess should trade in the convertible broom for the luxury heated model. On another note.... The road to being gainfully employed in New England has been very rocky and hilly. After the last debacle of having a job offer rescinded the day before I was supposed to start I got rather down in the dumps. I must've done at least another 40 online applications with nary a hit. I even started looking at jobs I knew I would hate. Theres a lot of things I cant do right now because of knee and hip issues i.e., standing for long periods. Several weeks ago, right before my unemployment ran out I sent off a couple of more applications and actually got a call back from one of them about 30 minutes after I sent it. Two interviews later I had a decent job offer. Its an assistant manager position and pays less, and comes with a haf hour commute, but that's ok. I was supposed to start last Monday but after a snag revolving around car insurance and the state of Florida threatening to suspend my license, I couldn't. I spent 4 hours on hold trying to get through to the insurance company. At one point I was using 3 phones to try to get thru via different avenues. Of course what I needed to do couldn't be done online. Finally got thru to a human 4.5 hours after I first dialed. Still took another hour and having to be transferred 3x. Thats what I get for having a Florida license and needing to change my insurance to Massachusetts. But all is well now and I started the new job today. Its not fun looking at your emergency funds dry up and see your account balance with very few zeroes at the end of it. It feels good to know I'll be getting steady paychecks again and even better being able to get out of the house. Living with a 91 year old forgetful woman will test your patience as much as a toddler lol. So for anyone else trying to look for work or change jobs, hang in there .... it'll work out eventually.

Snow? Shovel? What kind of witchcraft do you speak of? 🤣🤣❄️❄️

I'll have you know that my Christmas leggings are adorned with sweater-wearing dachshund. You're safe.

So help me if that fleabag even thinks of jumping on my head or using her death daggers on me I swear I will personally escort her out the back door. Oops! Maggie got out and I couldn't catch her. Lucky for her she doesnt jump any higher than the window sill. Demon.

Oh my... drama before I'm finished with my coffee is never a good thing. My MIL's cat made a run for it as we were getting my MIL out the door so she and my husband could get to church. She bolted out the door( cat not MIL) before we even knew she was there. This is the first time she's pulled a Shawshank since I've been here. Now, my husband actually likes the cat but as shes running around the back yard with him trying to catch her he was cussing up a storm. So much for being in a pious state of mind for the lord. Lol. I ended up going out to help try to corral her back to the house. Here I am in what passes for pajamas in my life-- Christmas leggings (don't judge, I wear them all year, they're comfy)and a ratty oversized purple-ish t-shirt and maroon crocs. (My solution to sandals in the winter and they were only $8 at Aldi. They’re lined too). We finally managed to herd her back on the porch then into the house. They still made it to church on time. Now the little shit is on her window perch staring me down and I know shes judging my choice of sleepwear. Have good day everyone!

Glad you enjoyed it Ben! It was fun to write.

Beautiful words tim. I think Danny would have loved it. ❤️

An absolutely well-written tale that teaches us an important lesson. Everything and everyone needs the proper environment to thrive. The Kodama shows us that even little tree spirits can have a huge impact. Great job and a story worth reading. Well done, tim! xoxo

There are no words to describe such a devastating loss. I'm so sorry. 😢

I think Farley and Nick were made for each other. Thanks for reading!

Thanks Bill! The wolf at the beginning had an uncanny fascination with Nick. Maybe it was his scent or how he whistled. I think that's why it wasn't hard for him to leave his pack. I'm glad you enjoyed it!
