Trust is something that once broken, is difficult to repair, but it can be done. I've known several couples who dealt with infidelity. Most of them didn't make it, but a few did. It took therapy and a lot of hard work from both before things settled. One couple, after the dust settled had an even stronger bond. Unfortunately the husband passed away before he turned 50. My friend said the best thing they ever did was get back together because the cheating happened in their mid 20s and by the time they were 30 they were back together after spending 3 years separated and going through therapy. She said if they had divorced and gone their separate ways she never would have gotten to know the man her husband became. He knew he had fucked up really bad and regretted every moment he spent with the other woman. He was a great dad and he and my friend ended up having almost 20 years of a much better marriage that he nearly threw away. He was 48 when cancer took him. So if there's any type of shot at reconciliation whatsoever, Miles and. Troy need to put in the effort and they both have to want it. The biggest question is .... is the damn author going to throw in another monkey wrench and leave everyone guessing?

Miles knows he hurt Troy. How he addresses it is now what the issue is. The sunsets will play a pivotal role, but not yet. Cats... I'm still meh.

Guilt and regret have been Miles' companion for quite some time. We'll get a hint of it soon and how it might possibly affect Troy.

I do appreciate the anti-Miles sentiment. I didn't set out to create his character in such a way. However, I can understand how your reactions are valid. He has turned out to be a bit of a selfish git. Redemption is possible. Look what happened to Caleb in the Hybrid Journey series. He betrayed an entire pack. Miles' transgressions are child's play next to that. We shall see.

We haven't seen the last of Robbie, but yes, she's going to miss him. Miles' therapy has been ongoing for the 7 or 8 years they've been at sea. It probably wasn't as sporadic as we think. I'm sure they spent plenty of time in their favorite ports. Yeah. New Jersey is not high on anyone's list. Pretty sure Delaware is going to tag along on that vlog lol. While it has been a large time jump {but not ten years, more like 7 or 8. It still puts Miles in his mid 20s. He's going to make mistakes. He's come a long way and we still don't know the exact nature of his contact with Erik. How sporadic was it and what did they talk about? What he's been doing in those 7 or 8 years isn't relevant. I could have done a few chapters revolving around his travels, but wouldn't have added to his growth. It would have been me describing all the places I want to visit. Now that he's an "adult", we'll get actual examples of who he is now. It'll take a chapter or two before we get there. If I were Miles and had matured enough to handle the news that my first love has moved on, then I would be reluctant to contact him too. Also, a lot depends on what past traumas he's dealing with. He admitted that he's handling it the best he can and is still maintaining his sessions with his therapist. Miles doesn't need to apologize to my readers, he needs to apologize to Troy. If that happens. The only tidbit I'm going to drop is that you'll know within the next 3 chapters what his secret is and why he left the way he did. If you're not on Team Miles, that's fine. As I mentioned before, I take it as a compliment when I have a character who can provoke different emotions in my readers. So hang in there. Explanations are forthcoming.

Congratulations on being the first real comment on the chapter lol. It hasn't been quite 10 years. I couldn't decide on a number so I left it at "the better part of a decade". I think in my head it's been 7 or 8. Still...a decent amount of time to grow up and look at things from an adults perspective. Troy will always be in Miles' heart and vice versa. What remains to be seen is whether or not their paths will ever cross again and what skeletons are lurking in his closet.
