When you sent me this chapter to edit, I didn't know what to expect. I was hoping for a happily ever after and I did get it, but it wasn't wrapped up in a nice little bow. Instead, I cried because of how real everything felt. The conversation in the barn was gut wrenching in a good way. We have no idea what happens to us when we die, and to show one possibility through Leo was brilliant. The ending was perfect. Lonnie has found a sense of peace, and Leo ... I love that you left it a bit vague because Leo will always be a part of Lonnie and even though his ghost may have faded, the memories Lonnie has never will. This has become my favorite story of yours. xoxo

Every journey through grief is different and this one shows us unabashedly the raw emotions that can come along for the ride. My older son is already married so it's not an issue. My younger son? It wouldn't surprise me one bit if he pulled something like this. I think Lonnie has some ADHD going on. His brain seems to run in all different directions sometimes, and he's prone to impulsive decisions. Granted, once he gets an idea he does mull it over for a bit, but the idea itself, like selling the house and business, comes out of left field. So far though, it seems like he's doing the right things for himself in order to move forward. Looking forward to Wednesday!

Michael is right, there is a lot going on in this chapter. What stuck out to me was when right after Lonnie handed over the keys to the house and got in the car and was smacked with Leo saying "I forgive you". I think Lonnie was really forgiving himself. He's finally given himself permission to move on, albeit in his own way. He recognizes the need to move forward. Great job yet again. I love this story. xo

Let us give thanks to the yak who sacrificed his hair for this beautiful creation. Well done, my friend! I had to drop my SUV off this morning to get it repaired. I had a fender bender last week, totally my fault. I zoned out and instead of hitting the brake, I hit the gas and smacked into a parked car as I was parking. I had a medication adjustment and had taken the new dose the day before and it hit me like a mack truck. I shouldn't have been driving, but my brain never got the memo. Luckily no one was in the other car and it's not super bad damage. Anyways, I brought the car in for repairs and the insurance company arranged for a rental. They were surprisingly amazing to work with. The whole claims process was quick and they took care of all the paperwork electronically. So the guy from the rental car place brings me back to their office and I chatted him up on the ride cuz he was really nice. We get back there and he has me sign everything and then says... "Hold on, I want to check something" and goes and talks to another guy. Next thing I know, he's upgraded me to a BMW SUV!! It's definitely above my pay grade, but hey .. I've got a sweet ride for the next few days! Have a good one, everybody!

Ok. No yelling. I promise. I'll get to the "I want you to marry me" part in a minute. First... Absolutely a first rate job showing the multitude of emotions that Lonnie is dealing with....and it's a lot. Indecisiveness about the business and house, then resolved determineness (I have no idea if that's a real word) to do so. Anger at Leo for questioning him and for just plain being dead, hopefulness that he likes Ty and that the man might like him back, excitement for a simple dinner date. Then....BAM! You hit us with astonishment. "I want you to marry me." Very sneaky Tim, veeeerrrryyyy sneaky. ❤️😲

OMG... the number of times my brain has been hijacked is unreal. Its probably best that I don't think too far ahead as I write. It'd be damn chaos.

In Lonnie's defense, he did apologize and admitted he wasn't ready. Poor guy sorta panicked. Hopefully Keve will understand.

I think Stacy is a good friend with solid advice. Everyone needs a Stacy in their life. Lonnie will get his $#!+ together eventually. I think. Probably. Eh, no spoilers allowed. Great job tim. You've nailed how unpredictable grieving can be.

This quote from Lonnie's mom is what struck me the most in this chapter: "You don't have to carry him alone anymore." I think a lot of people who are grieving tend to hide what they're feeling because they don't want to upset others. The grief process is something different for everyone and Lonnie's mom just quietly let her son know that he had support. Great chapter tim ❤️

I think most of us amateur writers second guess ourselves. I know I do.... constantly. A lot of the time I feel like I'm still trying to figure out how the hell to string enough sentences together to make sense. That being said, I'm currently on the stop and start method if writing. Its like learning to drive a stick shift...some days I can get it out of first smoothly and manage to cruise along in third gear, occasionally jumping on the highway and go roaring down at top speed. Other days I grind the clutch with a massive screech and abruptly stall and come to a complete halt. Not even rolling it downhill and jumping in to pop the clutch will get me going. So... You do you and those of us who love your style of writing will read it. ❤️

I never miss coffee time.

I woke up, looked at the time..845 and thought .. wow, I slept late for a change. Took me an hour and half before I remembered the clocks sprang ahead. Sunday breakfast is gonna be a little late. 🙄🫤🤦‍♀️

Senior year of high school I had English Lit with probably the easiest teacher in that department. I remember having to read Romeo and Juliet. We also had to read The Divine Comedy and The Iliad. I don't remember all that much because I was in that class with one of my good friends and my future husband. (He sat between us in two of our classes and passed our notes back and forth 🤣) Our teacher was a single woman in her 30s who was into fashion. Every test we had included a question about what someone in the story was wearing. So yeah... I don't remember much else. As far as enjoying these classics...not really. I never did like being told I had to read something.

There are stories that hit hard in the emotion department. This is one of them. Grief is many things to many people and you've managed to portray a lot of emotion in this first chapter. Great job tim.

So far it is a happy Friday. I had a good experience yesterday with a retailer. I haven't had contacts to wear since right before we moved. I finally went to the opthalmologist last week because my primary told me I had to go. All was fine and dandy with the eyes. However, when I mentioned I wanted to get a new script for contacts, the doctor said he didn't do that and I would need to make an appointment with an optometrist. Well.. I know firsthand how long it takes to get appointments around here. So I decided to try Walmart, which is where I went in Florida. After trying for 3 days, I finally got through to the right person for appointments only to be told that the vision center takes our insurance but the doctor doesn't and I would have to pay $150 for an exam. I said no thanks, I just had a complete exam and only need to get an updated script for contacts. So, yesterday I went online to the insurance company's site to find a doctor. Saw one that books online appointments. Lo and behold the location near my work had a same day appointment available. Booked it. Went on my lunch and let me tell you, every single person I dealt with was pleasant and efficient. I was in and out in under an hour. Sent home with contacts to try. They took care of ordering more to be delivered to the house. Best part of all.... insurance covered all but $50 of a year's supply of contacts and the girl placing the order gave me a rebate form which will give me $100 back. I'm getting paid for the contacts lol. Score one for kbois! Have a good day everyone!
