New Yorkers, Michiganers, and Ohioans make up the vast majority of snowbirds. Massholes don't like people so they tend not to stray far. I can't tell you the number of times I got stuck behind some idiot with a New York putzing along in the left lane. The absolute worst offenders .......Ontario Nearly got into a head on collision when one turned right into a one way street. Guess who was going the wrong way. Twasn't me.

Yes, Western Mass is the red-haired stepchild of the Commonwealth, especially the Pioneer Valley. The Berkshires at least can claim some semblance of culture as it is the summer home of the Boston Pops at Tanglewood. Northampton is the Provincetown of our neck of the woods. As for being a Masshole.... I will claim the title proudly even though your side of the state has much worse drivers. Boston and anything inside the 495 beltway has always been a nightmare to drive in and nothing has changed in 27 years.

I swear I can get sunburned by looking out the window. My worst burn was back in the day when the strongest SPF was 25 or 30. I did apply before sitting on the back seat of my dad's boat as we crossed Long Island Sound wearing shorts over my bathing suit. Should I have reapplied liberally? Absolutely. Did I? Absolutely not. Burning hellfire for the next week as the giant blisters made my thighs look like alien flesh. Then peeling skin that came off in sheets. I still had the two different skin tones the next summer. I am not missing any limbs, only my sanity. One of my best friend's brother lost a leg after falling off of a roof. It's not easy.

I have not had to witness a loved one being Life flighted to a trauma center, but I'm sure it's one of the most terrifying things one can witness. Hopefully she weathers the transfer and surgery cuz all y'all know that helicopters crash and people code on the table.
