Kage is a shadow shifter. As such he embodies darkness. Part of that darkness is being able to bring about death in what I consider dark ways. Heart attacks, cancer, ALS are all things you would never wish on someone. When someone is killed suddenly in an accident it's tragic. When they are struck by disease it's unfair. People often question what they, or a loved one did 'wrong' to deserve such a fate. Hence the connection.

I needed the levity of the get together for this chapter to balance out everything else. Also... I am MIGHTY disappointed that none of y'all have commented on the funniest line I've written. First one to get it gets to come out of the corner.
