So... Since I've been back up north where the Arctic tundra is apparently a thing I may have forgotten about in my 17 years in the Sunshine State, I've been trying to get my various aches and pains and overall health in check. I found a great primary care physician who I really like. Does it seem like I have a million referrals? Yep. I've been going to physical therapy once a week to work on the hips and knees because they got really messed up when I was battling the ankle tenosynovitis for 1.5 years. Its been helping. I didn't realize how off my gait really is. I've also made a decision to have weight loss surgery later this year. I'm not sure exactly when as it depends on how soon I drop 30lbs before the bariatric doctor will schedule it. I also can't take time off from the new job during the summer as it's the busy season. So I think if I can't have it by early June then September is realistic. In the meantime, I have to have a slew of preliminary tests done. Most I have to schedule, which I've done for a couple of them so far. I didn't need an appointment for an EKG or chest x-ray so I decided to get those out of the way after my PT today. Can I just say I was mightily impressed with the hospital I go to for all this stuff. My PT ended right before 11 and I was in my car on the way back home by 11:33. Both the X-ray and EKG were really quick with very little wait. Practically unheard of. So I've set the wheels in motion. I know it's going to be a long journey but it'll be worth it in the end if I can live much healthier. Wish me luck. Have a good day everyone!

I did one better. I ordered a power converter for the car and an actual heater like the ones you put under your desk at work. Amazon..... Same day delivery. Maybe there is a god. Today's high will be 10F with wind chills well below zero. Send help.

We're at 16.5 inches so far. The guys are out shoveling. I'm sure the plow will come by again right after they're done. More of the white stuff to come, maybe another couple of inches. Camden is packing his things. Pretty sure he's going to be hitchhiking back to Florida.

I can thoroughly picture Camden getting his nails trimmed and buffed while his human servants hand feeds him milk bones and puperoni. He's not keen on being bathed but he loves the blow dryer. He's definitely prissy lol. Dogs that love the snow are awesome. Our first girl couldn't wait to go out and chase snowballs. Camden would no doubt sit his ass down and look at me like I had 3 heads if I tried to throw a snowballs for him lol.

He's only part dachshund. The rest of him is a prissy poodle who lived 16 years in Florida. Anything under 50°F and we have to literally push his tail out the door. We're about to get hit with several hours of snowfall rates between 1"-3" per hour. So if we get 4 hours of 3 inches per hour that's 2 dachshunds high. 🤣

It started snowing here an hour ago. I've got the shovel ready on the back porch to keep an area cleared for Camden. Anything deeper than 6 inches and he disappears. He hates the white stuff. I've experienced those hellish white-knuckle drives several times. Once in D.C. when all the idiots who never experienced snow before created a grid lock that turned a 50 minute drive into 6 hours. Another time my car broke down and I had to abandon it at a gas station in the middle of a rough neighborhood and trudge 6 blocks in calf-deep snow to get to the closest Metro station and have someone come get me at the end of the line. I've got stuff thawing out to do meal prep for the next week or so and I think I'll get some baking done Stay safe and warm everyone!

I think one word themes are a bigger challenge when it comes to generating ideas in the old noggin. The past few years have not been one word themes: 2023- Leap of Faith 2024- In Too Deep 2025- Creature Feature Switching it up every year keeps us on our toes. Not every theme will appeal to every author. If, as an author, you don't like the theme then don't participate. No one is chaining you to a keyboard. But for those of us who like a challenge... thanks @Myr for inadvertently pushing me to decide to go with Unspoken. I may do something for Horizon too depending on time and if my brain will come up with something. So... **cracks fingers* On your mark Get set WRITE!

I am supposed to have plans to see some old friends from high school on Sunday. We may need to postpone depending on what this storm decides to do. I can't seem to escape storm tracking up here. Looks like I traded hurricanes for blizzards/ice storms. Sigh. On another note, why is it so hard to get some people's names right? Usually it's my last name that gives people trouble, but today it was my first name. It's one of those names that can be spelled a multitude of ways.... think Kaitlyn, Katelynne, Caytlin etc... So, I'm making an appointment and the girl asks for my first name, so I say it, then spell it.. K-a-y-t-l-i-n. I get an email with my registration and she input C-a-y-t-l-y-n-n-e (no, my name is not any of those lol). Is it so hard to listen? Anyways.... have a good day everyone and bundle up. I completely agree. I rarely watch or look at the news. I know there are many people out there who say 'stay informed'. I'll let them give me the cliff notes version. Ive finally trained my husband to ask himself "does K really want to hear this"? Nine times out of ten the answer is no. I figure if something truly catastrophic is going to happen like Yellowstone going supervolcano or the zombie apocalypse then oh well. (I cant outrun a volcanic ash cloud but I might have a fighting chance at escaping zombies) Stay warm everyone!
