Adoption is such a complex thing. Sometimes great, sometimes not. There is one thing that is always consistent, adoption can be difficult to navigate. When Kyle was adopted, closed adoptions were super normal. Not just closed but tight-lipped. A lot of kids had no clue they were adopted, it's just the way it was. It's different now. Lots of study to show the importance of open communication. I always cringe when parents keep it a lie, but it usually comes from a place of love.
In reality, it's still brand new information for Kyle to process. How he feels about it can change day-to-day. So far, he's doing great.
