Wonderful interview, Jacob! I think stories based on actual events are so fun to read because they have a depth that can only be achieved through real experiences. Having grown up in a region where marching bands are not a big thing (from a school where it didn't exist) I find your story so fascinating! I do hope you decide to keep writing. There are never enough stories.

Sometimes the best thing to do is to let things go. It's a hard call, but not all situations have a perfect outcome. Such is life. They are reunited, and I think that will need to be enough.
It could also be a family thing. My family is known for saying things that aren’t real. I grew up thinking a chest of drawers was called Chester drawers.
