  1. Poor Nate, indeed! First his "gay" best friend dumps him for a girl, then his "straight" friend suddenly turns up with a boyfriend. As Eddie said, puberty sucks. A 14 year old heart is very fragile, and he's not mature enough to understand how to build a shield around it. As for the next chapter, he says that everyone's life will change, it doesn't say someone is going to fall gravely ill, or die. It could be something else, like a firebombing of the church. I, for one, will wait and see.

    Let’s Play

April really needs to come clean with Jett. He doesn't understand that Jett has been carrying a torch for Theo all these years, and thinks he can finally put it all behind him because he's found "the one" in April. Yes, Jett will be pissed that April has deceived him, but eventually, he'll realize that the guy he's loved all along is now in his arms.

    Chapter 15

That's just the way it works. You stand up to a bully, the bully's parents get involved, then you get labeled the bully.
  4. Oops! I was reading that wrong. Connor and Eddie will not be having sex. That's good. I was mistakenly reading that you were saying Connor and Donald wouldn't be having sex, and they might not be. Just because it turns out that Donald is fluent in ASL doesn't mean he'll be sexually attracted to Connor. It will be good for Eddie, however. It gives him someone to practice with.

    Chapter 14

Okay, so I'm old. Back in the 60s, teenage boys' doors didn't come with locks. It would have looked highly suspicious if a boy installed a lock on his bedroom door, and my older brother actually installed a slide bolt under the door to avoid questions. Frankly, I think he was only trying to lock his little brother out (that would be me), and I already knew what he was trying to hide. After all, he always beat me to cutting shirtless pictures of Christopher Jones out of magazines as they were thrown away.
  6. Ah, but from what I have seen in other people's stories, things could turn out that when she reappears, she'll find her son in the custody of a same-sex couple, and that seldom goes well in these stories. I just joined in this tale in late December '19, so I may find out sooner than some. We'll see.
  7. You are so right. Either the guy is going to have an epiphany about the wonderful world of tolerance, or he's going to be (and get into) real trouble.
  8. Sounds kind of like Vacation Bible School in shifts, but just for teens.

    Getting On

I belong to a United Church of Christ, an offshoot of the Congregational denomination that has its roots in the Puritans, believe it or not. UCC is a very progressive church. We have a lesbian pastor, and our membership is about 65% hetero, including many older people that have been there 40 years or more. As one of the brochures says, "Our faith is 2000 years old, our thinking is not." God loves all people, not just those whose sins we approve of.

    Getting On

What the hey? The last church service I attended in prison (don't ask), the minister, a visiting American Baptist, used the word "shit" in his sermon, then embarrassedly admitted that was the first, and probably the last time he'd used that word in a sermon, but he knew he could get away with it there to make his point.

    Blockade

Wow. Just wow. Sorry, Canuk, more feet, please!

    Counterplay

I'm just joining here on GA from Nifty, and I'm rereading because I enjoy the comments. It's wonderful that someone who has beautiful feet (yeah, I peeked) knows how to use them in a romantic or semi-sexual way. Oscar reminds me of my own brother. He just had to dominate. He wouldn't have outed me, since he was just as gay as I was, but he just had to have that little edge over me. I think both boys would do well in toilet paper testing.
  13. Feet can be very sexy to the right person. Charlie sucked on David's toes earlier, and sent him over the edge.
  14. First, the technical stuff: You found Maggie's voice, and were able to convey it to us, the readers, beautifully. There is a distinct difference between her voice and Eddie's. That's not an easy thing for a writer to do. And now, as to content, Eddie said in the beginning that his father was all about appearances. Well, Pastor Clay separated himself from the SBC denomination in part because he was dismayed by their attitude toward the LGBT+ community, and here's where the rubber meets the road. It's one thing to have compassion for people who some believe to be vile sinners, but quite another to be able to accept your own son when he comes out. Will he be able to do it? I'm sure we'll find out soon.
  15. So I'm finally reading this more than two years later, and my money says that when Robbie comes out to his family, there will be a similar scene to when Nathan came out, with Don handing money to Sue. No telling about Nicola, who I place in the same category as the boy at the cinema who was "tired of fucking homos," but evidently hadn't considered trying it with a girl instead.
  16. I had to read this when I found it. While I'm not a genuine PK, I'm the next best thing. My grandfather was Sunday School Superintendent, Minister of Music, and Assistant to the Pastor. As such, my brother and I were held to a higher standard than the other kids in church. "Is he chewing gum in church? And he's Brother Danehurst's grandson!" "He didn't take his dishes back to the kitchen! You'd think Brother Danehurst's grandson would want to set an example for the rest of them." The pastor was as old as my grandfather, and all his kids were grown, and not there to be picked on anymore. Oops! I had to edit that last line. If the pastor's son was as old as my g'pa, how old would that have made the pastor himself? Probably older than that idiot, Robertson, and just as incapable of being a minister.
  17. It happens to the best of us. When it happened to me, I was 39 years old (still am, btw), but 7 years into marriage, I kept thinking, "If she only had a dick, things would be much better."
  18. Nicola thinks it's funny that Robbie keeps his socks on, even in his PJ's. When I was his age, I found bare feet to be extremely sexy, therefore, I felt very self-conscious if I was barefoot. Going without socks felt like going without pants.
  19. I have high hopes for Daniel. Any boy that chooses to run around the house barefoot in the dead of winter has to be good for a boy with a foot fetish.

    Chapter 30

When I was 16, I had my appendix removed, and I was scared to death the doctor would figure out that I was masturbating. This was in 1968, when kids were still being told they'd go blind, or insane, or grow warts, and all sorts of other horror stories. I do wear glasses.

    Sole Mates

Wonderful story! I only found it because you mentioned it in the comments of the latest chapter of Jay and Miles (chapter 57), along with the hint that you are working on a continuation. I just wish my old Native American friend were still with us so I could share it with her.

    Chapter 25

Well, Roger has always presented himself as an adversary, hasn't he? This wouldn't be the first time someone who has shouted "I'm a good guy, on the side of the right!" turning out to be a scoundrel.

    Chapter 24

Sounds a lot as if it were an alegory about racism, don't you think?
  24. Richard Zucher

    Chapter 15

But what about that little bit about a Light Mage giving up his virginity to serve a higher purpose, in this case, saving Michael from Worthington?

    Chapter 7

I finally had to give in and google "geas." Now I understand better, and pronounce it more like "gesh" in my head.
