The part about the Calculus test at the end of the interview was the bomb! This has been one of the best stories I've ever read - its interesting and so darned fun. The three blonds in the bed part was kind of hot.
My, this was interesting for a couple reasons. I like that the discussion looked for common ground as Americans between conservative and liberal folks - something we probably need more of. I disagree with eliminating the electoral college; it keeps small and rural states relevant and would have instead recommended a return to state legislatures appointing senators so that the senate represents the interests of the individual states (vs representatives representing people of their districts).
The fact that he got Conners to go along with the bonding willingly was amazing. A real great story continues.
The C-141 airlifter (Lockeed - now out of service) is not based on the Boeing 737. Now that the nitpicking is done - this was an excellent chapter that kept me up much too late at night to find out how it ended...
This science fiction story kicks a**. The speculative science is detailed and consistent with current understanding of physics. The star systems are realistic and the 'aliens' seem interesting, though the human crew is not yet developed. Im enjoying this so much!
Wow, the dog POV was really entertaining and made for an interesting perspective, especially with all the alien perspectives in this story. Louie seems almost like another alien. Cool.
I haven't seen dog POV since reading Jack London as a kid.
What a brilliant story. The Norwegian resistance & WWII elements were great. My favorite part was the kiss. WWII (and other wars) brought about a urgency and danger that resulted in a great deal of passion. Never have I read a story of two teen boys experiencing the same - The need to kiss because of perhaps not surviving to have a chance later was a novel and interesting element. Thanks for writing this.
I'm not sure the term 'gay' (as in homosexual) was in common use during 1956, or if it was, it was like a codeword. It generally meant happy or cheerful. Can anyone enlighten us on this?
It was a beautiful story. The protagonists progression and emotional development was very satisfying. I'm glad the family ended up in an okay position.
