I'm so enjoying the bidirectional flow of ideas between the crises. This is something I haven't seen in time travel sci-fi before. The author's knowledge of available technology in a given time is also cool.
God, how I remember the years being treated like that. I'm so thankful my mother eventually transferred me out to a safer school. Fortunately, suicide never occurred to me; we can't say that for others - Gay = 7X the suicide risk as a teen.
I really enjoyed this story. it was special and the writing was just fine. not sure if they had bananas in Canada during the war. that's my only nitpick.
uh isn't this story just a hate rant against Christians? do you think someone might see it as a bit bigoted?? I mean, this is kind of over the top, a lot! Like every Christian member of the family is going to get killed or imprisoned for attempted murder cause they don't like that a kid is gay?, but they don't mind starving and raping those kids routinely? is this just a dark story or a rape and murder fantasy? I felt bad for the dog.
How I enjoyed this Chapter. I'm glad he's still showing his old behavior and learning how it is received at the new school - that's totally more realistic. I have to admit that the revenge at the end of Mark's Revenge story seemed too cruel, cold hearted and unnecessary even with so many great characters. Scott's story is even more delightful and exciting - way to make me empathize with a character I really loathed before. Way to go!
There are some really interesting concepts in the world you built here. I would put emphasis on 1) editing/proofing and 2) character development. I'd like to have an opportunity to get to know this universe and some people in it.
nicely done and sensitive. you did a great job conveying the tenderness of their relationship along with the insecurities. is this a one chapter story? id love to read more.
This "Chapter 33" sucked. I would have liked a summary taking us to the present but oh well. I'm grateful to have read such a fantastic and unusual tale. I'll never forget it. It was an enjoyable fantasy.
