Interesting story progression. Just had a thought. Would it be a bad idea to have gay kids on an early space colony voyage? I mean, wouldn't they want each person to be able to produce as many offspring as possible? If so, would a young gay person still be expected to contribute genetically to offspring for the colony? I think it is a reasonable factor to consider.

I really like these boys. A lot of that audiophile stuff is a total ripoff, though. 16 gauge copper speaker wire is good enough for almost anything unless you are pushing thousands of watts long distances. I once saw a $300 AC power cord advertised in one of those pretentious audio magazines - like people don't think of the wire in the $2 outlet and the wiring in the wall... I love buying and playing LPs, CDs and SACDs... This story has all the stuff I like: Star Trek, sophisticated music, audio equipment, fairly balanced political debate, details about great food, cute boys and homoeroticism!

I stopped reading this before and am now circling back for a second pass since there have been many updates. The dialogue in this chapter between Jordan and Noah is really funny.

Nice and realistic descriptions of the locales. They do have musicians at the Shady Grove metro (sort of outside). Uh, not to criticize, but a lot of the authors on GA have teens calling their parents " 'rents". I've got teens and work with them all the time; I've never heard any of them call 'em that, even once....

I spent a lot of my youth in some of these areas but am not Jewish myself, though half of my friends and my 'friends' were. I was under the impression that Orthodox and Hassidim did not mix very much.

Like I said last chapter, no clue about leukemia. Someone who had it would certainly wish it went that way.

If you write a disease for your character, do a little research first. It's clear you don't know the slightest thing about leukemia. Your characters are quite cute though.

Kids with leukemia dont go back to school for a bone marrow the next week like the elderly. It's a medical emergency and the get admitted immediately with a bone marrow within a day, usually hours. The initial treatment is monitored most carefully in hospital. After done time, many treatments can be done as an outpatient, but they will be admitted many times. This story sure gets more and more interesting.

As a doctor who has treated many patients with leukemia, I can say your description of the initial illness was excellent and plausible. I've heard very similar stories from kids. I knew this was coming early on while reading and it was a real treat. You don't let up on these kids for long at all. I guess it keeps the plot moving. The only part that didn't ring true was the father delivering the news. We always have the parents and child physically present to deliver the news. I've done it, though I guess others may have done differently, it would be unusual.

Kevin is proving to be a satisfying new character. Ritalin would not make him gain weight from less activity or reduce his school performance. It would help him focus in school (it improves performance whether he has ADHD or not). The side effects are appetite suppression (very likely) and possibly insomnia or feeling nervous. Trust me ;), I'm a Doctor... Gulliver is an interesting presence in the story and I kind of like how he is used; I don't think I've quite seen that in a story before. Last comment: All the coupled characters are in monogamous, stable & committed apparently long term relationships. I'd be interested to see at least one couple where they play around casually a little.

Great story. I think I enjoyed this more than Mark's Revenge - (the revenge was TOO mean, right?) Seeing the change in Scott's character was inspiring - plus he got the Devin.

This is my second pass for this story - The Star Trek reference was great. I'm really enjoying this for the tenderness and warmth it conveys between the boys. It really makes me feel something. The author definitely has a bit of an underwear and especially a sock fetish! So far, the story is even better the second time.

Everyone is subject to prejudice. I'm my son's high school, the gay kids tease and pick on the bisexual kids... as far as the destiny thing, well, that's a pretty good point you are making.
