Do you think I should start to give out a tissue warning with each chapter?

Michael is a good lad who was brought up with good values, despite his own run of bad luck he hasn't lost sight of those values. This speaks volumes for him as a person. Thank you for commenting and seeing the good in Michael, your comments are appreciated.

Harry is a good man who had it all, a home and a loving family to enjoy in his retirement. But life can be cruel and took his family from him. Now his home has become just a house and he is lost in a wilderness known as loneliness and has a life that has no meaning. Is it possible that Michael and the boys can lead him out of that lonely place and give his life meaning again? On initial appearances, it looks like Michael, in spite of his misfortune is holding out the hand of friendship. Will Harry take it? Or are initial appearances wrong? Like many things, only time will tell, let's keep our fingers crossed. 🤞 Thank you for your insightful comments, they are more than welcome

I am so pleased that you enjoyed this chapter @Albert1434, I enjoyed writing it and showing that Michael still has the values he was brought up with. I can't say anymore as Terry, @raven1, is lurking somewhere with the sticky tape. Thank you for your support and comments, it is appreciated. PS: remember the next chapter will be posted on Friday.

Homelessness is something that can strike any of us at any given moment should we have a bad series of events in our lives and I would never want this to happen to anyone, but unfortunately, it can and does happen. Many homeless people are good people with good values, Charlie and Michael are two of them. Good people do exist and do help where they can, this story is as much about them as it is about Charlie and Michael. I hope that Charlie and Michael make the most of this opportunity, but will their luck hold out? Gary, @Headstall, is an author whom I respect and look up to and I appreciate his support as I do the support of all of my readers. Terry, @raven1, is also a great support and a wonderful editor/beta reader and deserves credit for helping me to bring this story to you. Thank you @James Baxter for your thoughts, I am humbled and choked by your wonderful comments.

It does look good, but can we be sure that Charlie will get an apprenticeship? We can only hope. Thank you for commenting Chris, it's good to hear from you.

It sounds like your health is improving, but stay indoors, no going out in the snow my friend. Keep warm.

Sorry, I'm busy helping Sister Judy and Stacy with the recipes.

You are right, there are some very special people in the chapter, but they don't see themselves as special they see themselves as ordinary people doing the right thing, maybe that's what makes them so special. Charlie and Michael's immediate future may look good but what about the mediem to long term future? Nothing is certain and our futures are what we make them. Being homeless is a very dehumasing experience, the fact that they have been able to keep and in Michael's case act on good values says alot for their inner strength and the values instilled in them from a young age. You make some very good observations, but how will it all turn out? Thank you for your comments, it is a pleasure to read what the readers think.

Danny entered the hospital and noticed the W.H. Smith Newsagents store in the foyer. "Charlie, why don't you go ahead? Jason and I will meet you on the ward. I want to buy a magazine from the shop," Danny suggested. He thought this would give Charlie some time alone with his brother, and perhaps they could also buy something for Michael to alleviate the boredom. "Sounds good to me. Jason, do you remember which ward Michael is on?" Charlie asked, eager to deliver the food to Michael before i

Chapter 17 Holding on Tight
Mancunian commented on Headstall's story chapter in Chapter 17 Holding on Tight
Definitely global, Bearpaw is read here in the UK too. -
This is what I imagine The Old Shoe Factory, where the The Recycle Shop is located, would look like. [An AI image provided by @raven1]

I'll serve it to you with freshly baked homemade bread. Charlie and Michael were loved by a caring mother who did whatever she could to provide for her boys, nobody could ask for a better mother. She loved them unconditionally as a mother should and they loved her. They are not bad boys and are in this situation through bad luck and a lack of life experience, at 18 and 20 years old they are too old for social services to step in. From Charlie's memory in Chapter 1, their dad died a drunk but he wasn't always like that, Charlie had some good memories of him so maybe he was a good father before drink got the better of him. Unfortunately, we don't hear enough about their father to know. Like you my friend, we want what is best for them and have our fingers crossed for their future. 🤞 Thank you for taking the time to read and comment, your support means a lot.

I'm going to guess it was perseverance, one of AI's suggestions was hilarious.

Sometimes it's when you are not looking for something that you find it. But what is Brad looking for?

Chapter 17 Holding on Tight
Mancunian commented on Headstall's story chapter in Chapter 17 Holding on Tight
YEEEHAW!! There be good reason to celebrate in Bearpaw this fine day, yep I'm sure there is. I'm sure that is how everyone in Bearpaw is feeling and no one more so than Jubal. Jubal may be worrying that he has let the mask slip too much and let others see how he feels about Lucas, but I think he is worrying about nothing. Luckily there is too much that needs to be done on the farm to allow Jubal too much time to think about it or he may get itchy feet, and I don't think Jubal's morals would allow him to leave a friend in a position where he cannot look after himself. Fingers crossed that he stays long enough to feel enough confidence in himself and his relationship with Lucas to make the right decision and stay permanently. The signs are there that he can stay and feel safe in this newfound relationship. The Doc has seen it and doesn't care, Reid has seen it and accepts and respects Lucas' choice, hell he's even seeing the good in Jubal and accepting him. Young Billy may hero-worship Reid but I think he is also idolising Jubal, if not yet he soon will be. Others in the town are also showing Jubal respect for what he has done for their friend Lucas and I'll bet their friendship will extend to Jubal soon enough. Jubal cannot leave, he would break Lucas' heart and many in the town would miss him too. Thank you Gary for another great chapter, one that gives us more hope for happiness in Bearpaw.- 76 comments

Hey Terry, can you share your warm weather with the rest of us?
-
We already have the morning frosts here, snow is forecast for some parts of the UK by the end of the week. But I think that's up in the mountains in Scotland.
-
Temperatures here are warm compared to where you two are, it's 5ºc here in Manchester
