If you don't mind skunks, our neck of the woods is nice (North Western California).

Those are little boys playing with men's toys. Their bedtime should be soon, so I hope you can relax shortly, Reader!

Hi, Spyke. Thanks for commenting! The black walnuts... my father was a trapper, but animals are wiley, and they can smell even faint scents of humans on traps. To rid them of the smell, dad boiled black walnut hulls, and then dip the traps and his boots in the dark as night liquid that resulted. That stuff is BLACK. And it smells of walnut, and nothing else. It's a scent that's associated with their home, so animals don't really react to it. As a side effect of the powerful odor, it masks bodies just as well as it does living humans, yet it doesn't seem out of place under a walnut tree. I'm going to focus completely on these two stories until they're done. So stick around, we'll get there.

Hahahaha... I love how one story makes you suspicious of law enforcement in every other thing I write! 😛 And yes... there's rotten and there's ROTTEN. Even if what he said is true, and he didn't really intend on what ended Adam's life... he STILL tried to frame Kyle for it. So, pretty messed up! Stay tuned. And thanks for writing!

Hurray! I'm happy you missed it. I'm glad you were able to edit it so quickly. 🙂 Thanks, Thorn!

You know it. I had three pages of it written for WEEKS. Just sitting there. I finally finished up posting Fleeting Eternity, and it was time to jump back onto Bluegrass. Thanks for commenting and reading, Jaybee! There will be more to come... stick with me.

Hah! Yeah, that describes it well! Just wait... the next chapter will answer a few more questions. Thanks for reading, rating and commenting, Bryan!

Oh yeah. We've got quite a few loose threads hanging now, don't we? What actually happened? How? Is Jason the only one involved? Many questions! I hate dangling threads... so come on back next chapter. We'll see about tying some up. Thanks for reading and commenting, Chris!

Kyle is quite a bit simpler than his other two brothers. Jason... well, he was always slimy. But, panic made him sloppy... and he didn't think things through. Thanks for commenting, droughtquake. 🙂

Hehehe... don't worry. There's more coming. Thanks, rick!

I have big plans for my weekend. The husband has to work over the weekend, so I am left to my own, nefarious devices. The cider-fueled mess that is Silverwolf is on my agenda. I will reread it all, then do some plotting, outlining, and then I'm gonna see if I can bust out a chapter in two days. 2,000 word average days? Easy! 🤪 I hope the rest of you have greatness planned.

rick, I know you're still learning... But, the Sirs here deserve respect. They may not be our Sirs, and I may not be a sub - yet, they are due simply because of who They are and their place in the Life. This is a part of the Life you're looking to enter. Learn the lesson, accept it, and grow beyond it.

Early the following morning, Kyle Hambrick slowly straightened from his work in the nearest field to the road. He watched Sheriff Keen's patrol car heading up the holler. He worked his big jaw and frowned. The sheriff had been around more lately, and in Kyle's eyes, he was not a welcome sight. Kyle found his phone and made a call. "Hey." He kept his gaze on the police car until it disappeared around a bend in the road. "Sheriff is nosin' around. Not sure what's goin' on, but I wanted to let

Thanks, everybody for the advice and for the well-wishes. I'll pass them along to Kevin. He's already under orders to buy a bigger pair of shoes so that toe isn't crowded. I will also tell his boss, so he's not expecting Kevin to do cartwheels in the aisle of the store.

Well, it hurts when he takes a deep breath. So I'm almost sure he cracked a rib. No other issues with his chest, though - besides the nasty bruise. That toe is our biggest worry. It's gonna be hard for him. He's on his feet a lot at work, so we need to get him some accommodation in place there.

Last night, I wasn't in the best place. Introverted, still sort of spinning. But, wildlife doesn't care about my moods. Our chickens were restless. It was dusk, and we went out to investigate. I spied a little skunk - small enough to squeeze between the wire that made up the chicken run trying to hide in the darkness of the run. So we're out there, trying to get this little confused, scared critter out of our chicken run AND avoid getting sprayed. Kevin grabs a wire door, to block off part of the run we don't want it to scamper through. Well, he tripped. He smacked on the concrete walkway, cracking a rib. But, worse... he really slammed his toe into the side of the walkway. When my husband takes a tumble, he does it right. I'm watching his ribs, to make sure the bruise there doesn't grow. But there's nothing to be done for a broken toe other than tape it up and let it heal. It's sad to say, but a baby skunk really did a number on Kevin. Oh. Don't fret. The skunk is fine. We saw it again tonight... the little bugger.

Thank you, Reader. Me too. 🙂

Thank you, molly. I think there are a few of us here who are like that. We're seen as competent and dependable. We expect to always have the answer, to be the person people come to, and we just keep going no matter what. We don't want to let anybody down, and in the process we forget to care for ourselves. Then there comes the reckoning. The moment we can't put off. When iron bends, stone begins to crack, and we need help. Well, we have people who love us. We just have to let them. You're welcome. I'm glad I'm here too, and same to you, molly.

I totally get the sentiment. I really do. Sorry that you're down, Fae. It's not fun. It's definitely not for the weak. Thanks for the comment, and I hope you get to see the sun soon.

I'm glad that I have Kevin too. He knows me very well. He cares. We fit. It's just... it's just good. I'm thrilled that tim's trials have become gentler. I know that's not an accident. I know it's due to work on his part, patience on yours, and good mental healthcare. Thanks for your comment, Mike.

Thanks, Mike. Depending on what's going on, there's no not writing... if that makes sense.

I get glimpses of how hard that is. Little tastes, just enough to know how hard it'd be to have to live with depression. So I'm glad your meds, your Husband, and your social connections help. I'm glad these bouts are letting up a bit in intensity and duration. It's all progress. We're all just trying to be better than we are. That's all we can really do. I'm doing well today. Thank you, tim.
