  1. Ahhh, it's here! ๐Ÿ˜„ N'than is on an adventure inspired by events beyond him, but perpetuated by his desire to stand on his own. It'll be good to see where he ends up. Great start, tim!
  2. This was a great snapshot into the life of Juha and the happy invasion of Adam into his world. This is where they get started, and it's a good read - sweet, hot, and sweaty. I'm betting you will enjoy it!

Thanks, molly! They're spiraling closer in that dance, aren't they? Lots can go wrong, but ... let's watch and see how it goes. Rayne really needed Elias in his life. When someone is surrounded by dark, even a tiny light can make a big difference. Ahhh ... next chapter. Hehehe ... I can hardly wait.

Thanks for reading and commenting, Geemeedee. Luckily Bailey isn't one to hold a grudge. He knew Harlan wasn't trying to hurt him - that helped too. He is an adorable flirt! I had to think about that. How does a guy flirt when he can't really communicate great? Eyes, expressions, proximity and touching here and there. That'd have to do. I think he's doing all right!

Thank you for the comment, CLJobe. I ran this story by a few ASL speakers (hearing ones) thanks to the internet. I wanted to get it right and anything I do in this story is thanks to their input and feedback.

Thanks for commenting, kbois! Elias can sense the rawness in Rayne. At a minimum, you're right ... Rayne needs a friend badly. If it's more or becomes more than that, we'll just have to see. So, no. Not giving anything away. ๐Ÿ˜› Harlan is what he is. He solves problems the way he knows how. And you will find out what the check was for soon. Bailey is a bit of a smartass. He'd always had a good sense of humor, though that took some digging to find again after he lost his voice. Harlan doesn't quite know what to make of him, but he's willing to find out! Ah, you did have a great day! Happy Mother's day! Peanut Butter sandwiches and chili ... yep. We were fed that combo in elementary school (cheap stuff, but it tasted good) as kids, and we came to love it. Changed an entire generation of kids in North-Eastern Kentucky. hehe. You enjoy your cheese food, crackers and wine, and I'll continue loving my chili and PB sandwiches.

It was Tuesday afternoon. Rain returned to the campground, though this time it was gentleโ€”almost a mist that fell upon the forest and cabins. Rayne, Elias, and Avery had just gotten off the bus, and Rayne numbly began to walk to his cabin. Avery was right beside him, going on about something that had happened in one of his classes. Rayne wasn't listening. Avery was always talking, so Rayne had to learn to pick up on when he said something worth hearing. Right now, the boy was on fast-forward
  9. I got to read this one early. I loved it then and I love it now. Nice way to make the prompt work, tim. More than just work, Mike is right - it turned into a right proper mystery. Great job. ๐Ÿ™‚

    Chapter 3

I like seeing the take on D/s. Thanks to my own research on the paradigm, I have come to realize there are as many ways to go about D/s as there are any other relationship. If it works for those involved then it's valid. It's that simple.

I didn't think I was. Well ... after my husband and I got to know a strong, aggressive farmer, now I know better. ๐Ÿ˜›

    The Word of Man

Thanks for the comment, tim. ๐Ÿ™‚ I think you're right. Nobody can be good at everything, and Harlan's not a cute and fuzzy type. We've got Bailey who makes his knees turn to water. I think it's rather fun to watch him try and muddle through that. ๐Ÿ˜„

Same here. Judgmental people all make me crazy. Judging using religion is the worst version of that. And thereโ€™s more awkward Harlan on the way. Thanks, CLJobe!

I certainly wouldnโ€™t want to vacation there! Though such a thing is amusing to think about. ๐Ÿ™‚ The military has access to the best techniques and surgeons in the country. If they couldnโ€™t fix Bailey, then our medical science simply isnโ€™t advanced enough to do it. Thanks for the comment, Bft.

Hehe. Thanks, Tom. We're almost to one of my favorite chapters I've ever written. "Delicious" is how I'd describe it. ๐Ÿ˜ˆ

    The Word of Man

You caught that. Cool. ๐Ÿ™‚ The coin is a bit flipped, isn't it? Bailey is now in his element, and gets to work in a position where he is one of the most important people on the job. Harlan, on the other hand, is trying to get control over himself. I like the journey they're both on. Thanks, Parker.

    The Word of Man

Awww... I'm sorry to have been a part of that disappointment! Hehe. I like Shawn. He's a fun character. Young, nice, smart. Overall a decent guy. This one isn't into bellbottoms, but he might actually listen to disco. Maybe. ๐Ÿ˜› Religion when used as a weapon is a terrible thing, no matter who is doing the preaching. That's all there is to that. Let's hope that Huck wakes up. Harlan ... I love this character. I'd be both fascinated and terrified to meet him. I've talked a big game concerning him, and so far ... there hasn't been much in the way of proof. But ... stick around. Maybe you'll get to see some. Regardless, when a hard-ass starts to fall, they fall tremendously. Will it happen for him? Time will tell. Thanks for reading and for the comments!
  19. Thanks for commenting, Bft. And that's exactly the goal. Keep reading! ๐Ÿ™‚

    The Word of Man

Hehe. Thanks, molly. Yeah, Harlan is floundering a bit. He's not in command of himself, and that's something he doesn't have experience handling. He's rather ill-prepared to deal with butterflies. ๐Ÿ˜„ We're closing in on one of the most fun chapters I've had the pleasure of writing too. I'm not sure if you remember the "Halloween" chapter, molly ... but that's coming next Thursday. ๐Ÿ™‚

    The Word of Man

Thanks for the comment, chris. Huck does seem like he is genuinely trying to help his son, doesn't he? It's just that his guiding light on how to do so has some rather bad advice for him. Harlan rarely does anything outside of what he's told - he's a good soldier. So how he's behaving now with Rayne's situation is odd. Hehe. It's fun to watch someone who doesn't usually feel much get hit with the emotion truck, isn't it?

    The Word of Man

Physically, Bailey is a bit of a knockout. Blue eyes, thick black hair, 6'1", athletic build. His charisma and confidence have taken a hit thanks to his situation, so his star is just a bit dimmer than it otherwise would be. But ... a bit of confidence would do tremendous things for him. Harlan has always been "average." That helped him a lot as he blends in almost everywhere he goes. The only time people notice him is when he's wearing few clothes. At that point, his conditioning is apparent and that's extreme. So ... Harlan is feeling a little outclassed by Bailey. It's important to understand why Huck is doing these things. He is doing something hurtful to both himself and Rayne in an attempt to "save" his son. He doesn't want to hurt his boy ... though, he is. Joseph, Orson and Elias make a fine little family. I like them too. Thanks for your comments!
  23. Huck Yoman, Rayne's father, sat quietly in his car. It was just before seven a.m., and he was a couple of hundred feet away from the campground entrance. Huck watched carefully for any sign of his son. There was movement, and Huck sat forward. Three boys gathered in a little group near the road. From that distance, it was hard to make out details, but Huck picked out the black hair and the bigger frame of his son. The bandage on Rayne's head was visible too. Huck frowned with emotion. "Hey,

    Family Secrets

Sometimes life sucks. I wanted to reflect that in my story here too - with the MS. But, we're capable of rising above much, thanks to the love of those around us. William is Sandra's rock. I had many ask "where can I get a William?" when reading this. I understand why. He's a great partner, in every sense to Sandra and a wonderful father to Grant. And nobody is just "a bitch." Sandra has her ways, and some of those are hard for us to understand. But she reacts and acts how she does for a reason. Mainly, she's just different. Her condition made her grow, certainly. She's still the same person, but now she has an awareness of how much she needs those around her - mainly William. It's eye-opening for her. And she's allowed to grow.
