  1. Hard to keep secrets from your psychic best friend!
  2. Taran took the stairs up to the roof of the dormitory wing, scaring off several pigeons that were camped there. The sun was beginning to set, casting a golden glow over the city. He walked to the edge of the building and took a deep breath. Stretching out his arms, he called the wind to him. It began to whip around in billowing gusts and tugged on his cape. Taking two more steps towards the edge, he dove off the building. The wind rushed against his face as he swooped low towards the ground.
  3. Some would call it a shameless rip-off of comic book tropes, but I prefer to think of it as loving homage
  4. Greg's probably one of my favorite people to write in this story. He's a good egg.
  5. Taran's got some baggage. Turns out superpowers can't fix everything.
  6. I think he made the right choice. More to be posted very soon!
  7. Ronnie woke with a start as a motorcycle thundered down the street outside. “How long have I been out?” he thought, reaching for his phone. “Shit, still dead.” A soft golden glow filtered through the window, casting long shadows across his wall. It was well into the afternoon, meaning he had slept through most of the day. He stretched towards the charger on his desk and plugged in his phone. Notification after notification popped up on the screen. His heart sank when he saw the flurry of mis
  8. “Nicely done, everyone, your hand to hand combat is improving! Hit the showers!” Taran dismissed the group of sweaty trainees, and started to stuff gear into a duffle bag. He checked his watch. There were still several hours before he was scheduled to go on patrol. Enough time to fill out his trainee reports and maybe even catch up on some sleep. He finished packing the gym bag and was headed for the door when his communicator beeped. He put a finger to his ear and activated it. “Silver Cyclone,
  9. Thanks so much! I appreciate the comment and hope you continue to enjoy. 😊
  10. The town car zipped through the city on its way to Ronnie’s house. He was disappointed that it stayed firmly on the ground this time but still marveled at the car as it managed to navigate its way through all manner of traffic, continually changing routes to find the most efficient path. It wasn’t long before he was out of the city center and headed west. Ronnie watched out the windows as the neighborhood became more familiar. Modest houses lined up and down the street, each with their own small
  11. Silver Cyclone lost sight of the car when the loading bay doors closed with a dull thud. He could still feel where Ronnie had gripped his hand in farewell. It had been so steady and warm. That warmth had also been in his smile, and he liked the way it made Ronnie’s green eyes sparkle. He wasn’t sure how he knew but was certain that Ronnie Nolan would make a great hero if he chose that path. While it’s true he had somewhat of a tragic and challenging past, he was still doing the best he could. A
  12. Thanks so much for commenting! I'm not super familiar with MHA, but my friends keep telling me to check it out. I hope you're enjoying the story!

    Chapter 3 Help

A really lovely, heartbreaking story. I just want everything to work out ok. For everyone.

    Chapter 1

Oh, that clearly did not go according to plan! Excited to see where this goes!
  15. Ronnie looked around his room and tried to get a bearing on his surroundings. The bed was made with military precision and a navy blue throw blanket bearing the Syndicate emblem laid across it. Next to it was a small pile of clothes: a grey t-shirt sporting the same logo, and a pair of black athletic pants. Maya had also left him a towel and a toiletry kit. He grabbed everything, exiting his room towards the showers. The bathroom was a continuation of the sleek white and chrome that the rest
  16. I didn't make my goal of 30 books last year (ended on 25, so close!) But on NYE I finished The Infinite Noise by Lauren Shippen. It's based off of her podcast called, "The Bright Sessions". I couldn't put the book down and finished it in a day. A perfect way to end 2019. I'm currently about halfway through The Song of Achilles by Madeline Miller. It's her retelling of the Achilles myth, told by Patroclus. A beautifully written love story, which I am loving very much (but I unfortunately know how it ends, so I know my happiness can't last forever!) Next on my list: The Rise and Fall of the Dinosaurs: A New History of a Lost World by Steve Brusatte I'll be Gone In the Dark: One Woman's Obsessive Search for the Golden State Killer by Michelle McNamara Re-read the entire Animorphs series, which should be a super fun blast from the past
  17. Silver Cyclone was waiting outside Ronnie’s room as Maya stepped out and the door shut behind her. “How’s he doing?” Maya turned to him. “He’s... fine, SC. Well, as fine as can be given the circumstances. I imagine he’ll be hurting for a little while, and not just physically.” Silver Cyclone recalled finding Ronnie in the alley. The way he cowered on the ground, eyes alight with fear. It was so vivid. “He was so scared… I’ve never seen a manifestation like that,” he said, sadness in his
  18. Doctor Peters led Ronnie to a small medical room, where a sterile white robot was lit up and waiting for them. Ronnie had never seen anything like it before, but he wasn’t surprised that the Syndicate had this kind of technology. The doctor told him to take a seat and began examining his wounds. The robot also floated around him, scanning him with different colored lasers and sending the results to a monitor near the doctor. A small alarm went off, and Doctor Peters paused to look at it. Ronnie
  19. A couple games I've played recently: The Outer Wilds has a nicely written LGBT side-quest with one of your companions and the woman she falls in love with. It's very sweet, as your role is to basically guide them together. Parvati is also implied to be asexual, which is something I haven't seen in games very often. In GreedFall, a couple of your companions can be romances regardless of gender (like the foxy pirate!) Stardew Valley let's you romance and marry any of the bachelors/bachelorettes regardless of your gender. I romanced Alex, and there's a little coming out story and everything which is pretty cute.
  20. Hi everyone, I'm new! Well, kind of new. I was actually here about 12/13 years ago while in undergrad. I wrote really terrible fanfiction that I nuked from orbit once I decided to start writing again. No one needs to be subjected to bad Harry/Draco/OC schlock in 2020! I've been doing NaNoWriMo with friends for the past couple of years and am at the point where my stories are almost complete but needing polish. When I was looking for place where I could get feedback on my stories, this site immediately came to mind. I'm so happy to see it thriving after all this time (and even recognizing some names!)
  21. Ronnie continued to sob alone in the alley when something caught his attention. Off to his right, a wind kicked up, and Ronnie saw a large mass drop down from the roof above. He scrambled to his feet to face the movement, bringing his arms up again. The strange tingling feeling from earlier in the night rushed from his chest to his palms, which began to emanate swirls of sparkling green light. This time, a translucent curved wall grew from the ground and arced just above his head. Ronnie stood t

    Home Again

This was sad, but I like the family dynamics. Thanks for sharing!
  23. The Outer Worlds has one of the best LGBT storylines I've seen in video games. And it's also just a gorgeous game!
  24. I've been meaning to try these games, but scary games wig me oooooout. But the first is on Game Pass, and is on my shortlist
  25. Hi! New here, but wanted to chime in because I feel like I've been talking about this a lot in real life... My biggest issue with queerbaiting is the extent to which filmmakers have been doing it lately in interviews, press, junkets, etc. And then when a movie finally comes out, it's either erased or completely minor. Exhibit A: Basically every Disney brand for the last two years. Marvel made a huge deal out of an explicitly gay character (the straight director in a cameo). I guess it's nice that we were thought of? Beauty and the Beast's "exclusively gay moment" consisted of prolonged eye contact, and we heard so much buzz before that movie came out. Again, it amounted to nothing, and could have easily be played off as something else. Star Wars did this A LOT for the most recent movie. Almost every interview with Oscar Issac and John Boyega was flirty, suggestive, and hinted at something more for their characters. The actors repeatedly talked about how they wanted it, how it felt natural with the storyline, and their natural chemistry on set... ...and then the movie actually came out, with absolutely none of that (minus a 1.5 second kiss between background characters) and then the narrative was switched to how they actors "wished" that would have happened, but it never materialized. Pushing the narrative for the sake of PR, but not actually following through keeps happening but it looks like folks are starting to catch on. And I hate the "well these have to be marketed in China" excuse, but the US has enough issues without pointing fingers at other countries.
