Frosty might take a bit. I have a fear of handling the story since it would be set in 1950s New York, and I'm not familiar at at will that era's dialect, maneurisms, and geography of the area. There'll be a lot of consultation, beta-reading, and puh-lenty of research. Thank you for the compliment! I had to think for a while about creating this story. Since it was part of a challenge and I was tasked with writing a dystopia sci-fi, I wasn't sure where to take it. I'm glad I chose this route.

An expansion has practically been demanded, and I intend to follow through with it... at some point. Once Death in the Shadows is done, there's plenty of potential next books to play with. Keep an eye open for small details. There might be some tiny connections between the chapters. Not much of a plot, but there's some small tie-ins.
  3. I'm thrilled you enjoyed it! I assure you, Yakob had no evil intent. I can't wait to see your comments along your journey through Rising in the Shadows.
  4. Yes indeed, there are seven. And if one were to do complete re-read of this series, all but one gods and goddesses have been named at some point. Mentioned all the way back in LitS chapter four, Vincent mentioned his parents used to take him to services for the gods of love (Dinbe), order (Bol), and luck (Yir). Then there's Terik of mischief, and Vincent just mistook Aliz of destiny for Ceresa of death. That leaves one more. Who else could the author introduce? (I'll give ya a clue. I lied; I mentioned the last goddesses exactly once when Caleb and Tasha were talking about Ashford back in RitS. Brownie points to the reader who recalls the particular line.) Celestial tangent aside, the gods and goddesses (affectionately known as the Seven) are revered by all in this world I created. A whole religion! And hey, the deities exist! Who knew! Poor Dirk indeed. I solemnly swear I'm done picking on him! There's only so much damage I can do to one character in less than twenty-four in-story hours. I loved this comment! The past few chapters were heavy, so I knew the comments were going to be entertaining. Both good and bad news: the story won't be calming down any time soon. Plenty of other plots to play with!
  5. It's always interesting to see these reports! Also, as I'm commenting, there's two of these articles posted. Thanks, Myr!
  6. Judging from Mason’s frown, he wasn’t the happiest with the idea. “Mace?” The alpha’s grip on Vincent’s hand tightened slightly. “That’s a… That’s a big decision, Vinnie. Are you sure?” “I dismissed it when it was offered, but it came back to me just now. I can be anywhere in minutes. It makes sense to use that power to do some kind of good, right?” “I see your point.” Vincent could smell Mason’s nervousness. “Are you worried I’ll be in danger?” The driver nodded.

Thanks for stumbling! I had a lot of fun creating this world. I can't wait to see what you think about the other two main characters.

    Chapter 26

Oh, man! I forgot Nash hasn't met Cassie yet! I'm imagining Cassie will instant recognize him from that and utter a Peter Boyle-like "Holy crap!" (Everybody Loves Raymond). Time for the big stuff, fellas. Get approved to be foster parents, work out insurance stuff from the accident, have a few rounds of sex in-between...

    Chapter 25

Liam has the mental picture of Quasimodo for Cassie, but I'll laugh if his first line is "You're hot!" You know, like a typical pubescent teenager. To the comment that said Cassie will meet her match with Liam... Queen Meme Cassie will never bow down. John deserves an award or recognition for what he does. Simply inspiring.

    Chapter 24

There should be a Kleenex warning at the start because I needed the whole dang box! Going through the memory box was touching, to the point I needed a break. Then I needed another break when the guys broke the news to Liam. Masterfully done, Miss Author.

    Chapter 23

Smoldering chapter! The tumble to the floor was perfect, and the laundry was a nice touch of teamwork for the couple. Excellent!

    Chapter 22

So stinkin' happy! With so much excitement going on, I never registered that these two had proposed. I'm sure Momma Dalton's gonna lose her marbles, both over getting a grandson and a son-in-law!

    Chapter 21

One step closer to a happy family. Lex is becoming a psychic with peaceful grandma energy, and it's hilarious. Surely he would hold back the info from Cassie until Jarren shows Nash off for the first time right? Oh, who am I kidding? Jarren should expect a meme text in the morning.

    Chapter 20

Lex and Jarren hold a secret about the other, and I can not wait for them to be revealed! Now what could Jarren and Nash be plotting?

    Chapter 19

Three seconds. It took three seconds for me to register that my jaw was on the floor. I absolutely love how Liam's comment was the most therapeutic line Nash needed! Poor Kaitlyn. She'll have to put on her resume "No working with amputees, please."

    Chapter 18

I need a hanky!!!! Jesus H. Christ, Miss Author! You put the pedal to the metal with this'n, didn't ya? Nash's foot is forkin' gone!? Daaaaaaaaaaamn!! Next chapter!

    Chapter 16

Danny's departure feels both wrong and right at the same time. Ooooooh, I can't wait for Nash to meet Cassie and Lex! I'm betting $5 Cassie instantly recognizes him!

    Chapter 14

What a fantastic chapter to read before bedtime! I'm beginning to contemplate whether my previous chapter comment is accurate or not. Jarren is learning to describe his experiences, which will help him with the d/s stuff. I think Nash needs to flip the roles so Jarren understands that role.

    Chapter 13

With endings like this, I'm glad I wear an apron at work...
  21. astone2292

    Chapter 12

While everything Nash is doing to Jarren is hot AF, I can't help but think he's acting a bit like Kyle at the moment. Constantly keeping Jarren sexually tense, and almost commanding what Jarren can and can't do. I smell trouble in the relationship, but it might just be me.

    Chapter 11

Now the question is whether the two lovebirds can work together without getting distracted... My money's on nope. Plenty of hanky-panky on the clock?

    Chapter 8

Be thankful I didn't mention the khaki cargo shorts. Every day. Regardless of weather. College came, and so did the salmon shorts and vibrant v-necks.

    Chapter 9

Truly one of the most powerful chapters I've ever read. For Jarren to fall for the man who went to the scene from Lex's childhood... Probably the biggest "Oh, sh!t" moments I've read. Then we learn of Nash's daughter. I'm speechless and broken-hearted. Bravo, author. Bravo.
