Mickey is the story of an extraordinary person who overcomes tragedy and abuse to become a successful and fulfilled man. It's also the story of a wealthy and privileged young man rejected by his family. The story of how these two become a couple and build their own family is heartwarming, but never sappy. I can't imagine anyone not enjoying their journey.

Mickey is not just amazingly accomplished and successful, but is a genuinely amazing person. He has enriched the lives of everyone who calls him a friend or family.

Engineer Benson - July 29, 1993
CincyKris commented on Wayne Gray's story chapter in Engineer Benson - July 29, 1993
I had often wondered about the world outside, now I know the sad news. Our survivors are lucky that there is plenty to scavenge, as long as they are careful. I wonder how long the zombies can last without eating.- 16 comments

I hope the birth is safe for both baby and surrogate. The team seems to have a handle on the take-down. The step brothers are not smart enough to get out of this.
-
Woohoo!!! We got to see them kiss and move to boyfriend mode. And it looks like Gray is finally going to listen to our advice and get tested.

They need to hire some very good and very quick forensic accountants to discover the totality of the step brothers' malfeasance. Oh, and fire them! Then get them arrested and imprisoned.

Prison visit & Hansi appears
CincyKris commented on Robert Hugill's story chapter in Prison visit & Hansi appears
The English prefer to "keep calm and carry on". I'm afraid if they were American, they would have played this out on a terrible reality TV show!- 28 comments

Prison visit & Hansi appears
CincyKris commented on Robert Hugill's story chapter in Prison visit & Hansi appears
I think Jackie truly does love Damian, unfortunately not as much as she loves herself. She looked at Ludo as a way to get the life she thought she should have, but at some point, realized she didn't really want it. This is not a new concept! Tons of people have experienced this. Most either put up with it and live a silently miserable life, or they divorce and escape. Jackie's solution to boredom was monumentally stupid and hurtful. Andreas is possibly even more stupid! Planning all this to get money he didn't need for a life his wife didn't want!- 28 comments

Engineer Benson - July 28, 1993
CincyKris commented on Wayne Gray's story chapter in Engineer Benson - July 28, 1993
I'm so glad to see a chapter from one of my absolutely favorite writers! I've known a couple of genius level people that lacked basic common sense and practical knowledge. I spent several hours teaching one of them how to do laundry! I'm impressed with how well our group is working together to solve problems and succeed. I look forward to seeing how the professor fits in with our Kentuckyfied version of Gilligan's Island. -
If Mickey agrees to help, which we all think he will, he and Drew need to have the final say on their personnel. This is going to take a lot of time, @akascrubber had a good suggestion that Mickey's firm act as legal council. Then it wouldn't take away from his work life. Not sure how Drew will be able to fit in both running a huge troubled company and a growing family.

It appears the bullies were just waiting for things to die down to make their move. Hopefully Mike will step up, even if it's only due to guilt. Gray needs to go to HR and report this. He shouldn't feel unsafe at work. I'm glad the chat with Olly went so well.

Hilarious! The CJverse according to Northman. I didn't miss this line that alludes to our speculation that Stephen was a closet-case: This guy and his cute Aussie partner were just too good to be true

Great chapter! I'm glad to see that George is keeping Caroline at arm's length and withholding information, yet doing so whilst not antagonizing her. He was not worried about antagonizing Cornwallis, which says much to his actual value. The real diplomacy starts at Madame de Stael's, as well as George stalking his next willing conquest.

Whatever anxiety Stingray Head caused Jordan, he is willing to put it aside for Cameron. That shows his commitment more than anything. What caused his anxiety? I'm guessing he's just afraid of the ocean, maybe he almost drowned?

Mermen’s willies and a Christmas shop
CincyKris commented on Robert Hugill's story chapter in Mermen’s willies and a Christmas shop
Sadly I could not find a picture of any saucy mermen fountains on the web, although a mermaid with water shooting out of her nipples made me laugh. Too bad the twins didn't get to see that one! I enjoyed the day out and about, and I hope Morrie finds the right guy. -
Can't wait for Rene's story! I enjoyed the catch-up, the torture, and especially the happy look into Elijah's future. As for the crazy game show, I still say "we was robbed"! I guarantee that I will someday steal this line : Huntington was the unfortunate result of his father jerking off into a flower pot and growing a blooming idiot.”

I'm going to look at the arrival of a bedraggled dad as a good sign! Like others, I think it means the step monster and her miscreant sons have gone too far. Drew needs to remember he is in the driver's seat now, his priorities (unlike dad) are clear and consistent. Having your kids close in age can be a blessing later in life. It also means the kids will never be lonely.

Outside of the troubling text, this was a sweet chapter about Gray and Raffa building their friendship, both hoping it will turn into more.
-
The boys have conflicting feelings: grief for their friend and guilt that they are happy to have the twins. Mickey's mom did a good job putting it into perspective, the twins are now the center of their lives and they need to get over their guilt and shower the babies with happiness. Ellen and Carl will have great lives with their loving dads, grandma, and extended cousins.
-
Gray has heard Bryan's viewpoint, which has had quite an effect. But, my experience with 20 year olds is that they need confirmation and affirmation from people their own age, that are similar to them. Raffa to the rescue! Use that smartphone and get the extra support you need.

Welcome back! Grey is getting help from the druids, and maybe from the constructs. And dragons???? Will they be good dragons or bad dragons?

I loved this chapter, even though I am "anti-religion", as Patrick would say. I personally feel that Christianity, Islam, Judaism, Hindu are mythology in exactly the same way as the mythology of ancient Greeks, Romans, and Egyptians. I think there will be new mythologies that will eventually replace our current ones. That doesn't mean that I don't respect others beliefs in their god(s). If that belief has a positive and important part in a person's life, I'm all for it. Most of my family are religious, to varying degrees, and I completely respect that even though I think differently. This chapter helped me understand Ben better, because the religious part of him was an obstacle for me before, but not now. I'm sad to hear of your recent bouts of ill health. I will figuratively cross my fingers for you, since my rheumatoid arthritis won't allow me to actually cross them anymore. Life throws us obstacles, it just takes time and effort to figure out how to get around them.
