The Greatest Gift pt. 3
Summerabbacat commented on Ticklishboy30's story chapter in The Greatest Gift pt. 3
Michie's reason for adoption was horrifying, even moreso because I can only but imagine such a scenario has occurred in "real" life on many an occasion. His grandfather, Brad, did a wonderful thing. A moderate Republican you say @Ticklishboy30; it certainly appears Brad is socially progressive which would likely render him unsuitable to run for President in the "real" world. -
The Greatest Gift pt. 2
Summerabbacat commented on Ticklishboy30's story chapter in The Greatest Gift pt. 2
The Waltons, I remember it well. A cathartic chapter for all five boys, with bonds forged stronger than ever. Mean Mama has not revealed her surprise yet though. Perhaps the next chapter all will be revealed. -
The Greatest Gift pt. 1
Summerabbacat commented on Ticklishboy30's story chapter in The Greatest Gift pt. 1
A little ominous. It could be many things, perhaps Dakota being formally "adopted" into the Carter/Knight families, something to do with the odious Janice, marriage vow renewals, the possibilities are endless. I will just have to read the next chapter NOW to find out what awaits the boys. -
I read this story some time ago on Nifty and it is well worth the read. I have read a number of stories on that site by the same author and all without exception were very impressive, well written, interesting, with excellent character development and well developed plots.

Family Weekend pt. 1
Summerabbacat commented on Ticklishboy30's story chapter in Family Weekend pt. 1
I assumed it was Mad Maddox too @Paladin. That is one thing which puzzled me @Ticklishboy30. Troypop did not seem to be aware that he had been assaulted and left for dead before being found, and no one seemed to question why Maddox's whereabouts were unknown, or did I somehow miss something when I binge read the first 10 chapters? -
Damn. I thought the last chapter was sad, but this one was even more so @Mark Ponyboy Peters. There was however, some fine moments of humour, particularly the teasing of Ben and how Samantha has him "under her spell", a spell which he acknowledged is true. There is no indication however she is attempting to seriously change his behaviour to suit her wishes. The "Benantha" relationship appears to have a solid foundation, which will be needed if it is to survive the separation of the next 12 months before Ben makes his way north to Macquarie Harbour as he indicated is his goal. Once again the disparity between the social acceptance of a Benantha relationship and a Timguy relationship was glaring. Social acceptance of same-sex relationships, particularly in rural towns, may have improved somewhat since this story was written but one still has to be mindful of where one is. There are many parts of Sydney where such relationships are not tolerated and to "flaunt" such a relationship would be inviting verbal abuse at the very least. Although very sad @Mark Ponyboy Peters I nevertheless enjoyed this chapter. The enjoyment was tempered somewhat by the news of the death of the great Black Caviar yesterday. I am a former horse-racing fan and was certainly enjoying the spectacle still when she was gracing the turf. Just writing of her passing has brought tears to my eyes.

A Return to Normalcy, a Change, and Discussions
Summerabbacat commented on Lee Wilson's story chapter in A Return to Normalcy, a Change, and Discussions
A delightful chapter @Lee Wilson. The banter between Brendan and Jack was amusing and I loved the complete flip you did of the typical "and he walked her to her front door at the end of the date and sealed it with a kiss", with "At Andrew's house, Jill walked with him to the door, looked toward the car, Brendan looked away, thinking she may have wanted to give him a kiss, which she did. That was proven to Brendan by Nick's 'ewww." Until the trials of spermie and the incubator are concluded at least I think it very unwise for Brendan to get involved with Skylar, the children's new case worker, particularly if things develop and then subsequently sour between the two.- 37 comments

Dylan's response to Sebastian infuriated me @Avogadro1001, much like he did when he seemingly felt some degree of responsibility or sympathy for his father who was forced to live elsewhere and pay alimony after his mother divorced him for beating Dylan senseless. Sebastian is stupid and spineless and shallow, much like Trish Collins and yet Dylan felt some sympathy for him just as he did for her. Please don't Dylan, "Darcy up" and at least ignore these cruel and shallow people. I have to eat my own words too. To learn that Liam seriously beat Dylan a second time, seemingly without having been spurred on by Trish, was shocking. Liam is rotten to the core or as Dylan so succinctly described him “There’s just nothing inside you. Nothing at all. You’re pathetic and sad, and empty.” I said quietly. “One day, you will end up in jail, Liam. I wish I had thrown you there myself, but I lied to everyone to protect your sorry ass, because I couldn’t hurt your mother.”
-
“Hey-hey, it’s alright baby. Who is this?” Jake asked, sensing my anxiety. “Nobody, just a guy from school.” I doubt anything could have been more devastating to Liam than being dismissed as "nobody". This comment would have been a cannon to his overinflated ego. I think it was a fellow reader who made a comment on a prior chapter that forgiveness is overrated. I felt the same way when Dylan so easily forgave Trish for being such a bitch. Would she have done so if her circumstances had not been reduced? This will never be known. Do I care? No. Your comment @Avogadro1001 about people like Jake being a little creepy has "hit a nerve" with me too. Maybe it is because I am a pessimist, but he seems just too good to be true. Do such people exist? Time will tell.

After reading chapter 1 I felt Liam was not the total douchebag others assessed him to be, but after the revelations of this chapter any regard I had for him all but evaporated. The violence of his attack on Dylan was horrendous, but the "faggot" comment was the most unforgivable of all. For all his bluster in the first chapter about not being bothered by Dylan's revelation he was gay, Liam uttered "faggot" to placate his then toxic semen repository aka Trish. Dylan's description of her was almost perfect, he omitted one word though, the other "f" word when he described her. She made Jessica look pleasant. Dylan's father was the other significant male douchebag in his life. I had zero sympathy for him; did it make him feel like a "real" man to beat his smaller son repeatedly. What kind of twisted upbringing did he have in Colorado with Gloria and Frank, devout Christian republicans. Shockingly believable @Avogadro1001. I have just viewed your profile and note you are from the same neck of the woods as @drsawzall.

Depositions, and a Problem Appears
Summerabbacat commented on Lee Wilson's story chapter in Depositions, and a Problem Appears
@Al Norris if the state in which you live has a total ban on abortion, do you know if it is illegal to go to another state where an abortion can be legally performed and have the abortion without fear of being prosecuted when you return to your home state? -
Depositions, and a Problem Appears
Summerabbacat commented on Lee Wilson's story chapter in Depositions, and a Problem Appears
I hope both you and @Mancunian are wrong @drsawzall as such a child would have a significantly higher risk of all sorts of health issues "forced" upon them. Given the current anti-abortion climate in the USA @drsawzall brought upon by SCOTUS, would a situation such as an incestuous pregnancy be an exemption for which an abortion would be legal or has the hysteria completely criminalised abortion? -
I am new to this story too. I noted today @Cane23 had commented on a later chapter and initially thought when I looked very quickly @Avogadro1001 that your name was Avacado1001 and I love avocados. I am glad I decided to give the story a tryout if the first chapter is indicative of what is to come. Unlike a number of my fellow readers I don't think Liam is a total douchebag. I agree he has behaved like a total douchebag, but he does have some redeeming features. He clearly feels some degree of guilt, shame and/or despair regarding his treatment of Dylan in recent years. He also recognises a number of Dylan's characteristics for the qualities they are, characteristics for which others have ridiculed him or found fault. Liam also appreciates the positive aspects Dylan brought to his life, positives he has forsaken so he could "make it", something which he now either appears disillusioned with or downright repulsed by. I compare Liam to Jessica. Now she is a complete douchebag. She is I suspect one of those "wanna-be beauty-gurus cyber bullying different girls on a rotating schedule" so succinctly and wittily described by Liam. She is a runt with a capital C; totally devoid of any redeeming features. If she plays a significant part in this story I sense I am going to enjoy detesting her enormously. And as for the story's namesake, Dylan, my first impressions of him are totally positive; the "underdog" I will root for as I always do in such situations. I assume the "tall black guy, wearing a gray leather jacket and a pair of sunglasses" is the likely catalyst for Dylan's altered appearance. Is this a good or bad thing, only time will tell.

Oh sure @Andr0gene; always blame "the other guy". What do you think @Cane23? I think @Andr0gene should be thankful that Blame It On The Boogie by The Jacksons is one of the very few disco songs I don't like and that I cannot bear Blame It On The Rain by Milli Vanilli. However, that did not stop me from inviting the fabulous Eydie Gorme along to the party in "our room" @Andr0gene, although it is not Eydie in the video.
-
You have previously mentioned your dramatically-inclined daughter and now an angry jock son. You may have to follow the sage advice of Boney M. after all @Cane23, regardless of their "disco connection" and remain the level-headed parent (and I know this is not the "real" meaning of the song, just adopt behaviour befitting its title). And if you can replicate Maizie's throaty "Daddy" starting at 2.40 in the video you may prove to be very popular in Greece. I can still remember when this song was released in Australia. It debuted in the top 10 within 2 weeks of release and I was instantly a fan. I don't think they ever bettered this song. And I know you don't like them @Cane23, but for a little gay white 13 year old boy in rural Australia they were like a slice of "heaven" all the way from Germany, just like their Teutonic eurodisco predecessors, Silver Convention, who this little gay white boy also adored when they were chart toppers in 1975 and 1976 and flew their robin up to the sky and then got up and boogied.
-
You said you don't like disco, but a little "birdy" told me you have been channelling your "inner Rod Stewart" since you arrived in Greece, especially this song.

Wrestling = homoeroticism. I believe Maggie is well aware Liam and Mike are "wrestling" and does not have an issue with it. In total agreement with all three statements @Paladin. The sex was so 🔥🔥🔥🔥 @Arch Hunter. You may have to call the 🚒. I have but one question for you. Do you have any "spare" wrestlers? If so, could you possibly have one shipped to Australia? I just had to turn heating off @Paladin.

Depositions, and a Problem Appears

I thought that too @centexhairysub. Whist I think any rational person would consider Brendan's reaction understandable, his punching a hole in the wall would likely ring alarm bells for Child Protective Services.- 52 comments

Depositions, and a Problem Appears
Summerabbacat commented on Lee Wilson's story chapter in Depositions, and a Problem Appears
You could have lovely curly hair @Lee Wilson and it would be short too, thus requiring little maintenance and perhaps just the occasional trim. If your hair "from Australia" migrated north you could be like some well known actresses (who shall remain nameless) who have had so much lifted that one more lift and they will have a beard. I remember as a child my mother always trying to encourage my hair and my brother's hair to curl by pressing little "waves" in our hair. We hated it and I cannot remember for sure what a "wave" was. Was this just my mother who did this or was this a "mother thing" in the 1960's/1970's? -
A 6th story in the works @Mark Ponyboy Peters. Cause for celebration with an appropriate song from another great Aussie band. Although I don't have any of their albums, they were very likeable and massively popular here in Australia. Although a bit before their time, this could be "our boys" Matt, Luke, Tim, Guy, Ben, Scott and Justin in the not too distant future, all together and "loved up", except for Ben as Samantha is "missing" from this video. The boys really will become "Sons Of Beaches".

OMG @weinerdog. Are you suggesting that males masturbated even as far back as "biblical days"? Shiver me timbers, say it isn't so. 🤣🤣🤣🤣

Depositions, and a Problem Appears
Summerabbacat commented on Lee Wilson's story chapter in Depositions, and a Problem Appears
I have to agree with you @pvtguy, although my sense after the initial discussion between Greg and Brendan in the previous chapter was that whatever the outcome of the business closure, Greg had no intention of sticking around now there were children involved in any ongoing relationship with Brendan. I think the business closure came at a very convenient time for Greg, he was able to end his relationship with Brendan using the business closure as the reason why, rather than admitting he did not want to be in a relationship with Brendan with all the added responsibility and intrusion that would come with three children. And to be fair to Greg, not everyone is enamoured with children, and in this instance he would have had three ready-made children, children whom have all suffered at the hands of their parents and could potentially be saddled with all kinds of psychological problems yet to emerge. Should Greg have ended their relationship so quickly? It may seem selfish and/or cowardly, but I believe he did the right thing by Brendan and the children by ending their relationship now. Brendan and the three children likely face very difficult times ahead with the possible trials of spermie and the incubator and cross examination of Brendan, and more particularly of the children, being of great concern. A relationship break up between Brendan and Greg during such times would likely have been even more harrowing for not only Brendan and Greg, but indirectly for the children too. At least this way, Brendan will be able to devote all his emotional energy towards the children during the pending difficult times. "Jenny asked a lot of questions. She wouldn't find out until later; she didn't ask all the right ones." This is very ominous @Lee Wilson. My mind is leaning towards a speculation which I think @Mancunian made as recently as the prior chapter, did spermie prostitute Jill out to make money.- 52 comments

And damn it if it didn't happen again @Mancunian. Whilst I was offering my explanation to @weinerdog, you swept in and beat me to it. I had just woken up after falling asleep on the floor in front of the gas heater whilst petting my eldest cat, Frida, about 3 or 4 hours ago. It is 1.50am on Saturday and I am somewhat groggy as the floor is cement of course with floating timber as its covering.

Just thugs or "yobs" as described by @Mancunian, a word which I thought was one of our own, although we usually refer to them as "yobbos", but its origin is British according to Google. You beat us again @Mancunian.

Settling In, and an Oh No!
Summerabbacat commented on Lee Wilson's story chapter in Settling In, and an Oh No!
Beverly is a character from a John Waters film Serial Mom portrayed by Kathleen Turner. She is the perfect housewife and mother, with one small "twist". Beverly is a serial killer, her victims being people who she perceives have somehow wronged her family or done something which is not right e.g. her neighbour who refuses to recycle. Her weapons are less than conventional, some being what I named above. It is a hilarious movie made in 1994.
