    You Were a Gift

A deeply personal and extremely sad tale about a life that was taken far too early. Being a parent, it touched me to the core. I could feel your joy as you welcomed the child in the spring, the sunlight the child brought into your life during the summer, a stillness during the fall, possibly brought on by an illness, and a sadness as winter claimed a life. Thank you very much for sharing this touching tale.

A very descriptive journey through the seasons with a two-some. It was quite intriguing and enjoyable.
  3. Thank you, Tony, and I'm glad you could relate to my humble offering to the anthology.
  4. Thanks for responding Harry, and I think we all harbor a little Peter Pan in us.
  5. Thank you, Parker. I'm not into poetry such as you are, so I'm glad people found something positive in my humble offering.
  6. Thank you for reading and commenting. I'm glad you enjoyed it, even though I only do poetry for the anthologies.
  7. Thanks, Paul, and I'm glad you were able to identify with my humble offering to the anthology.
  8. I know how you feel, Al, because at 75 I feel the same way.
  9. The seasons of my life began the day I was born And I had no control over the early days of spring I was totally dependent on my parents, especially my mom She’d dress, bathe, and feed me, and put me to bed at night The middle of spring was spent in two basic activities Learning to walk and talk, and then I started school This gave me a small amount of freedom, since I rode on a bus And my time was spent in class and having fun with my friends Summer began when I became an

  13. I loo ked it up online and I quote. Lynx is a French brand of male grooming products owned by the London based company Unileber and marketed toward the younger male demographic.
  14. In the 1980s the Ford Company made a Mercury Lynx. There's also a Lynx & Co. Car brand.

    Chapter 11 S2

Yes, Gramps, as all older people, are wise and can see the 'what could have been' scenario for nearly every situation.

    Chapter 11 S2

Who doesn't love hearing screeching cat? Oh yeah, probably everybody. And of course Mac and Devin are used to and enjoy sharing a room.

Yes, no better way to begin your Christmas vacation is with a good yowl. 🤡

    Chapter 11 S2

Yes, the boys were definitely in the Christmas spirit. Before singing Christmas songs in the SUV, they serenaded the neighbor with a cacophony of cat noises as their way of singing a farewell to the neighbor lady. 😈
  21. Chapter 11 – Going Home for Christmas Now that we’d returned to the house after our trip to the hospital, we changed out of our outfits and freshened up a bit before we sat down in the living room to relax for a bit. I was already receiving alerts that I had emails with attachments, so I started opening them so we could see how they turned out. “Wow, these are great!” Gramps stated as we all looked at them. “And there are so many too.” “Even more than last year,” Devin adde
  22. A classic cartoon that was my first introduction to opera. Opera wasn't playe4d in our house and my grandfather said 'If I was to hear that kind of caterwauling I'll step on a cat's tail." He even left the room when Ed Sullivan had an opera singer on his show. As you can tell, he wasn't a veryh openminded person.
  23. Val, didn't you know you didn't have to travel that far to see the eclipse and there were plenty of places you could have viewed it here in the U.S.? But putting that aside, have a great rest of the trip. Just don't marry that guy on impulse. 😜
  24. Many operettas also have spoken dialogue, and then the next step would be musicals, and that's where you'd find most young people having an awareness of many of the popular musicals.
  25. And many Germans loved the Wagner operas, while most in England enjoy the Gilbert and Sullivan operettas.
