  1. I agree, those were just fine
  2. Hey! I have new pictures finally, so that's fun. This is from two weeks ago, when I was attending the United States Student Association Legislative Conference in DC. It was an amazing time And this one was from a meeting that I was attending. One of my friends caught me right in the middle of a conversation, but I like how it turned out. So yup, that's me!
  3. Well well well. I'm so excited about this thread! Musical theatre has basically been my life for YEARS, even though I'm taking some time off to do the Poli Sci track right now. Shows I've seen recently (I can't really keep count anymore.) Spring Awakening (21st birthday present from my ex-bf...really awesome show. I've loved the music for a quite a while now) My Fair Lady Miss Saigon The Last 5 Years (BEAUTIFUL!) Throroughly Modern Millie Shows I've done: Guys and Dolls How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying (Probably my favorite show to do) Fiddler on the Roof (Tevye) Working (Great great songs) Once Upon a Mattress Jesus Christ Superstar West Side Story Gypsy Those are just the musicals. I've been in quite a few plays, as well as helped out my high school with lots of stuff.
  4. Wooo hooo! I'm so excited. This is a very good gift for the start of my spring break!
  5. I'm pretty sure if he would have used the Batman voice, people would have been emotionally damaged. Scariest voice EVER!
  6. Well gee there youse guys. I guess he just wasnt enough of a Maverick for her don'tcha know. (imagine that in a Minni-SOTA accent if you please)
  7. These books all seem interesting, so I've been making a list of what to read when I have the time. As of right now, the only books I've been able to read are about 4 textbooks on the different views of world politics and American national security policy. I'm up to my eyes in Hegemony and Realism. Though strangely I find it a bit interesting. Ah well.
  8. You know, I see it all the times in movies, and I'm not quite sure how it happens either. My friends tell me it's not that hard, as I saw them attempting it. In MY pool no less. Though honestly, that's something I hope to figure out.
  9. Well, my avatar is from 10 minutes of Photoshop doodling. My initials, (or at least those of my Pen name... but my real ones are floating around here SOMEWHERE) in Harry Potter font, which if you've read my stories should make perfect sense. Add a rainbow and some texture brushes. Ta-da! Instant avatar. please, hold your applause.
  10. Hm... an actor throws a huge diva fit. Yet, we pay them millions of dollars to do movies. Maybe that's why!
  11. Aw. all of my kissing has been on college dorm futons. Not fun, or classy.
  12. No.... not that I haven't wanted to though!
  13. This is my cat Neville. He's named after the HP character, and for really good reason. He's a little, erm, slow to catch on. I think this picture sums him up perfectly. I do miss him now that I'm at college and don't see him very often.
  14. Aw. I'm gonna have to post some new pictures up here. Now that I'm like back to the site and all. Everyone looks so nice! (YAY 400th post!)
  15. My goodness. Down boys. Nice Picture jim-w, and welcome to the site!
  16. My my my... So much French. I'm in 101 right now, and after just mastering futur proche, my Facebook statuses have been all bilingual. But I have a looooooong way to go. That keyboard stuff is a PAIN though. ALT codes never want to work right on my laptop.... Anyway, aren't we supposed to be talking about books? I'm kinda digging Christopther Rice's stuff right now. I really enjoyed The Snow Garden.
  17. My college roomie this year had the first season on DVD. So I watched all of them one weekend when I wasn't feeling very well. I really need to see the rest of the show sometime soon. I do tune in to Dexter to get my Michael C. Hall fix.
  18. I cleaned school buses for a summer job for 3 years. My friend and I swear by it! My favorite chore is actually mowing the lawn, when it's not really really hot outside. I do my best thinking during that time. Vacuuming is kind of the same way. My least favorite chore is doing laundry in the dorm. I hate hauling everything down to the basement from the 3rd floor, and I HATE having to wait for other people to get their stuff out of the machines.
  19. It's interesting, because this thing has been going on for a while. On one hand, I can see the point. Xbox Live civility is ridiculous. There are tons of youtube videos were all of the players yell, "homo this" and "queer that". Perhaps MS just thinks that not allowing names like that will lessen the problem? Why add wood to the fire? On the OTHER hand, people who are out and proud should be able to put that in their user names, and then just frag the crap out of all the haters.
  20. Aw, I'm glad to see someone got you the link. Hedwig's a pretty great movie. Good stage show as well.
  21. Hmm... This is really interesting. I guess with a lot of things dealing with gay identity, I like to think there's kind of a spectrum. So, if you were to put really masculine on the left, and really effeminate on the right... I would probably be somewhere just right of center. 1. I'm a showtune belting, jazz-squaring, theatre nerd. I follow up on people like Idina Menzel, Kristen Chenoweth, and Roger Bart. 2. I bake a mean chocolate cake, complete with homemade frosting 3. Had to teach almost my entire dorm wing how to iron a shirt the proper way. I also have an unhealthy obsession with scarves and school uniforms. 4.I write fanfic for goodness sakes. On the other hand, 1. I go camping a lot, know how to start a fire, split fire wood and am capable of fishing. 2. Can: change a tire, change the oil and do minor car stuff. (emphasis on the MINOR) 3. Do the gross yard work that most of my friends would faint over. 4. Snowmobile, 4-wheel and all that stuff (nothing with two wheels though... fell off too many times.) Gender roles have always kind of interested me. I study them as both a college student and an activist, and grew up in a family where both parents shared the same tasks within the home. In all honesty, there are times when I'm sure I can get a little flamey. It's usually when I get excited over something I'm passionate about. Eventually I calm down, and the rainbows fade back into the heavens and all that. However, I sometimes have a really, reallly, really, hard time with uber-Flamers. For example, there is a guy that I work with at school, and there is not a doubt to anyone in the room that he's gay. I swear he just emanates glitter. And I do feel bad, because I'm all about accepting people for who they are, and getting past difference to reach a common goal. That doesn't mean there aren't days when I just want to yell, "THIS IS WHY WE CANT GET MARRIED!" at him while spraying him with a fire extinguisher until he's brought down a few levels. *cough* Besides that one guy, I am fairly comfortable will all kinds of gay guys. It just comes with the territory after a while. Everyone has something special to bring to the table. As far as the dating goes, I've been attracted to both types. I'm not really sure if I have a "type" (Unless you count British, red-headed, in argyle sweaters...but how often does that come along?) I'd bring a femmy guy to dinner too. They usually tell pretty good stories
  22. Wow, that was really really wonderful. I have a friend that I work with on various student rights issues (yay Student gov. nerds!) She is a non-traditional student, and always has pictures of her two adorable children. She reminds me very much of this mother, in the fact that she loves her children, and supports all of their decisions. Both kids are free to express themselves in ways that I have never seen before. And they're really happy kids. There need to be more people like that in the world.
  23. Aw. I thought the whole "family dynamics" was a good undertone. I thought it was one of the most realistic gay relationships I've seen in a movie. I just saw Get Real a little while back. It was British, so that was good enough for me. Not too awful. I thought Milk was great, but I love bio flicks.
  24. I just got back from watching Milk. I think it had a pretty limited release in more rural WI, but one of the theaters in town always shows the Oscar nominees when it's close to the awards. OH MY GOODNESS! I had known quite a bit about Milk and his legacy before seeing the film, and was really impressed at how true they were to actual facts. Places resembled the real thing, and it was just quite amazing. And I cried soooo much. *sigh*
  25. All recovered, and now partaking in the consumption of many leftovers. And tomorrow starts all of the holiday prep: Getting the tree, finishing up the baking, and decorating the house. We're working on 22 different kinds of cookies tihs year. My mother gets a little carried away!
