  2. “There is no way I’m wearing that!” I growled, glaring at Alex. “Why not?” Alex asked with a grin on his face letting me know he knew perfectly well why not. “I know you normally like blue, but I thought you’d look good in green. Well, green and black.” “The color is not the point,” I hissed with my teeth clenched. “I’m not wearing that thing!” “Why?” Alex asked again, his voice getting a little defensive. “What’s wrong with it?” “It’s. A. Fucking. SPEEDO!” I growled, each word gettin

    Chapter 1

This is rather hard to reply to - which is why the delay. But I figured it was time for me to at least attempt a reply. Man up and all that crazy jazz.... Yours is a common response I hear - Why oh why did we both just give up? Why didn't we try? Why.... Blame the author for not being a very good story teller I guess. But we didn't just give up on each other. Nor did we not fight with each other over it. I couldn't bring myself to write a few thousand pages rehashing all of our arguments. Truthfully it tore me up just writing the story in the first place. I couldn't even bring myself to even edit the story - what's posted is the first and only draft. The only reason I wrote it at all is because I have a few persistent friends who pestered me, uh, I mean asked politely for me to finish the story. (LOL) It's also a mistake to just think it was just a job that tore us apart. It was a symptom, not the cause. Again, blame the author for not making that clearer. I really should have. But I do want to thank you for reading my story. And for commenting - even if it was hard to reply to! But that's ok. It means my story touched you and your question touched me. What more could a teller of tales ask for? Thanks again!
  4. New Year's Resolutions.... 'K - I resolve to make no resolutions! OH CRAP - I've already broken it!

    Story

Thanks - I really appreciate you reading my story and your comments. They mean the world to me. Writing this story was a lot of fun and I'm glad I carved out the time to take up the challenge when the contest was created. Writing Rocky was actually pretty easy since I just combined all the traits of the various dogs I have had over the years. Or, I guess I should say in true Rocky fashion, all the dogs who have owned me over the years! Thanks again!
  7. Happy Birthday!!! Hope you have a great one!
  8. My sister used to have a cook out every year with everyone expected to dress up. After eating the kids would all go trick or treating while the adults, cough, would sample a few adult beverages. Participation started dwindling as the kids grew up and she stopped holding them a few years back. Now I just buy about 12 tons of candy "just in case" I get a trick or treater. Last year was a record - I had 3! But not all bad - just means more candy for me!
  9. Happy Birthday Daddy!!! Hope you have a great one!

  19. This is probably going to make me seem really mean, but I'm so tired of hearing about the student loan crisis. We don't have a student loan crisis. We have a personal responsibility crisis. I just looked it up - the average student loan debt is $29,000 with an average 10 year repayment term. And that term can be extended. The average rate is 3.9%. That comes up to about $293 a month. The average car loan is $25,714. The average rate is 2.86% for a 5 year term (I find it sad that over 60% of loans are for a term over 5 years). That comes up to about $461 a month. So what's my point? We hear all kinds of moaning about paying for the college loan, but people don't even blink an eye when they go buy that new car on credit. That payment seems to be ok - after all you get a shiny new tangible toy to play with. Funny when you think that the car will be worth very little at the end, but your degree will still have value. I wonder if the high default rate on student loans is because Banks can't take your degree back. I wonder if people would find a way to pay for the student loan if their degree was revoked if they default? By the way Jeremy, I'm proud of you that you want to be responsible and pay your loans back. And I'm proud of you that you have made the dent in them that you have already. I don't find any fault about day dreaming about walking away - who doesn't occasionally fantasize about ditching their obligations? But I think it shows how much you have matured that you are determined about fulfilling your obligations. I'll hop off my soapbox now!

    Story

Thank you - I really appreciate your leaving a review. Makes my day! And I'm really glad you enjoyed the story too. I'm not sure if I'll write for the Valentine's Day contest or not. I'm going to be insanely busy at work and truthfully I haven't been hit by the inspiration bug. But you never know. The inspiration for this story struck without warning in the last few days so maybe Cupid will shoot me with an idea arrow! Thanks again!
  21. Whoops - I'm so sorry I missed you adding this review! Thank you so much for reading my story and for your kind words. I'm really happy that you have enjoyed the story so far. One of these days I'll get back to writing on it again - I promise!!! Thanks again!

    Story

Thanks Lisa - glad you enjoyed it. And thanks for reviewing - as always I appreciate it. And to answer your question, the story ended up being so long that I ended up cutting a few scenes. One of which was letting Rocky out to do his thing. Rocky was going to give Gary grief about the snow in his usual Rock-head way. But the original story had 20,000+ words and I decided to cut a couple (or maybe a few thousand!) Thanks too for the critique - I appreciate it. I know I go a little overboard on identifying the speaker. In my very early writings I was guilty of forgetting to identify who was speaking - which is way confusing for the reader! Now I go the other direction - no happy medium for me! Thanks again!
