The way you wrote this chapter, especially describing the brain fog, is surreal. Then the humorous “I think I’m gay” drop so randomly..man you’re too good at this. Plus as a former EMT, you’ve got the adrenaline rush of a scene and response in the ED down. Nicely done.

Well I was right in that Colt and Joel had a productive conversation at least. I’m kind of frustrated that Joel and Dav didn’t have a more pointed conversation. Joel has some decisions to make.

Having been through a personal hell myself, recognizing when he just let those men destroy him…he wanted to die. So no, it’s not just a song. Not this song. I’m balling my eyes out here.

It’s probably my favorite so far of his. Such a different approach to a young gay teen coming out story.

No way. Asperger folks don’t make jokes . Sarcasm doesn’t make sense to them. Everything with those thar are truly diagnosed with it take everything you say literally. They don’t understand sarcasm. Jonah doesn’t even come close. He’s just not corrected on the spot when he crosses a boundary

Dude I love the whole Mexican mama attitude. I grew up next door to an old Mexican mama whose boys grew up long before I was around but by time I was a young preteen..that’s what she called me. Good times.

Jonah to me is just a kid who’s got a rather high IQ but is quite aloof to social boundaries and misses the polite subtle queues given to him by his friends. Unless said queues are extremely blunt like how Nick handled him and that’s when Jonah overreacts. Jonah still missed the intent behind the message and became hyper focused on the worst case scenario out of said message and totally skips the rest of what Nick and Jack were trying to get him to understand. I think the author has described these types of schools accurately. Kids of these schools are still just kids who eat too much junk food, are fairly gifted athletes, still have their cliques of friends within the school, and would be the class valedictorian in a regular public school. All their of their classes are Advanced Placement courses and they breeze through them with seemingly little effort to the rest of the students were they in public schools. Money is no object to them or their parents. Replacing $1000 iPhone you broke yesterday with cash or bank card today after classes end wouldn’t even phase them where as the rest of us would have to pro rate it out with payment plans over a few yrs like “normal folks”. Emery having a Louis Vitton hand bag is making a statement of wealth. I can’t say I know anyone who has one myself let alone a 15yo kid.

If memory serves attending Harrison was his choice because I think at the beginning of the story, there was a line vaguely talking about how he was some sort of trouble, perhaps bullying at his last school. To that point, I don’t think I’m giving her a hard time. Not sure where you’re getting that from my comment prior.

So in that case, I’d expect Butt Breath to be very inconveniently popping up in areas and squashing pda moments for the boy couples. Especially for Nick and Jack. I think the guy is going to cease the meds Jack needs and things will spiral to the point where Nick starts to push back. I think there’s going to be issues with intimidation from this guy. I would expect the homework getting heavier so the students won’t have time to have much free time to develop their relationships. That’ll be the passive aggressive way the school gains control

I want to know what happened to Noah! That slippery jerk disappeared. I thought for sure he’d retaliate on Jack to get at Nick or attack Nick or directly. I’m still waiting for the other shoe to fall with their current situation. This new dorm parent has all of the boys on guard.

I’m the one in Cinci and yeah, this city has really grown on me. I’m not sure exactly what makes pasties so..unique even when you follow recipes step by step. They’re just not the same unless you get them in the U.P. The only real debate is who’s are better, Jean Kay’s, Dobber’s or Lehto’s and i think I’m partial to Dobber’s.

I think when Nick paid Butt Breath a visit he stated that Mr. G has been reassigned. Now whether that means another dorm or what I can’t be sure.

don’t get me wrong. There’s more opportunities I know and that’s why I’m still hopeful Colt will take the opportunity in the truck to get to know Joel because let’s face it, up until now, Colt hasn’t really been around Joel much. At times it’s felt like he’s actually avoiding him. I’m really curious to know what Trace was on Colt about, and what had Celia teary eyed. Trace is the only one who truly knows what is going on with everyone and I think he’s trying to bring them all around but realizes he’s got to do it gently, so they feel like THEY’RE the ones doing it. If I had to guess, the argument between him and Colt was just that. Colt was very resistant. Celia tried to do the mom thing and Trace said no, don’t butt in. Celia probably feels like she’s got no control over any of it. I think Celia is more approachable to stepping back on Colt while not being too pushy with Joel too. She probably feels pretty helpless there. I’d hope she knows to trust Trace even though it’s hard and against her personality. Just my 0.02

Oh and pasties… mmm I’ve been to the U.P. Once. Sigh. It is gorgeous. Pasties are truly a delicacy. I might have to plan a vacay up there. I’m only a day’s drive living in Cincinnati, Ohio. Hmmm….🤔

There is tension between the twins but I don’t think it’s serious. I’m gonna guess that Gav sees his brother essentially dreaming about Joel but scared to move leaving both boys frustrated for different reasons. Dav because he’s more frustrated at himself and Gav at Dav for not moving. I wouldn’t be surprised if Dav isn’t a tad jealous at his brother for having that outlet in Faith.

Imma sucker for good acoustics and a skilled pianist what can I say? 🤷🏻‍♂️
