  1. Definitely!
  2. Had to laugh - I did the same. That first summer home was not very comfortable. My Dad got monosyllabics from me, my mother a bit more, but not much. By the second summer, I made sure to make alternative arrangements, going overseas (those were the days of grants and scholarships galore!). Even Christmas was difficult - when I didn't go to the midnight service on Christmas Eve, my parents knew that things had changed, though in the end I never gave up on the Church.
  3. Don't I know it! Most of it is water under the bridge in my own case, but it's interesting how "life imitates art" in so many instances. As a naive Only Child from a small Midwestern town, I was incredibly immature. University was quite a growing experience, virtually all for the Good. Actually, I had forgotten a lot of the angst, but @ChromedOutCortex brought so much of it back to remembrance. I'm amazed I survived it all, and even more amazed that I'm still friends with so many of them - including One Who Got Away.
  4. Although my college days are LONG behind me, this has brought all sorts of memories roaring back. Nicely done!
  5. Profoundly moving. Amazingly so.
  6. Oh, I sure can relate. I didn't do too well coping in high school. And I had no Tony - not till years later. The path is not always easy. At least my "sunny disposition" and a healthy sense of humor worked to my advantage. They still do 🙂

    Chapter 23

An amazing tale. Sobering, to be sure! I'll even admit to seeing bits of me scattered here and there. Kudos to the Author @ChromedOutCortex

    Chapter 18

Michael is definitely his mother's son, eh?

    Chapter 15

Ryan's correct - dealing with Michael's mother is indeed like making a deal with the devil.

    Chapter 14

Too many repercussions, sad to say.

    Chapter 13

Me too. Or it could all blow up in a multiple clusterf*ck.

    Chapter 11

Something along these lines occurred to me as well. So sad.

    Chapter 10

Need I even remind us of the Bard, who exclaimed "what tangled webs we weave."

    Chapter 9

I just knew Michael's mother wasn't just sulking in her room while Sarah was recovering. Evil rarely relents.

    Chapter 6

I'm sure Michael's mother was doing more than sulking in her room. After all, it's her house...

    Chapter 5

So they paid for three months but moved out immediately? They could have stayed in their old place till the lease ran out. I mean, seriously.

    Chapter 4

Exactly my thought. And going off without talking it over with Sarah? Is Michael crazy?

    Chapter 3

If I'd wake up earlier, I'd happily binge this! But work calls - as does a Certain Someone I work with *sigh*
  19. Definitely has the "feel" of Real Life, you Devil you! You go, guy!

    Chapter 5

I suspect we all could take our own advice more often. I'm at a place like that right now, and even at this super-annuated age, it can get scarey. But then, I can be such a wuss 😉

    Chapter 3

I thought it was up to the older guy to make the first "move" - or am I being outrageously old-fashioned?

    Chapter 2

My parents divorced when I was a pre-schooler, but they always remained on good terms with each other. I have now buried both of my parents, but have been on good terms with my father's second family. It has all made life so much easier. Like begets like, I guess - if we're lucky...
  23. What a waste of manhood 😞
  24. What a joy that I was not Catholic. I had enough to worry about as it was...

    Journey

Always exciting to see a tale set in my ancestral homeland.
