  1. Obviously I like this one, eh Tiger? It's so hard to come our as a straight man these days.
  2. Well, since this is a poll I'll comment though I have nothing new. I was too scared to look when I was in high school. I used my long shirts to my advantage, as did many boys. From my peeking a few boys stripped nude and fewer showered. I did not, mostly we did nothing in class. Just re-apply deodorant, change clothes and go. In middle school I was so terrified I went to the bathroom stalls to change. Mostly because once I did have an erection even though I was staring at the wall. I don't actually know if anyone stripped nude. That was only on pool days though because we were not expected to change on non-pool days. I currently don't go to the gym or pool.
  3. o.O I thought I was speaking English. What was I speaking? I bought my MP3 player, a Cowon A3, two years ago. I bought it because it sounds great and plays high-definition video. It had some problems but it was worth it to me because I love music. I lost my MP3 player this week. If I cannot find it today I will buy a new one. I went back to Cowon without looking at other companies that make MP3 players, but this is biased. My own bias made me curious about yours. My questions to you: Do you have an MP3 player? What manufacturer? (i.e. iPod, Samsung, SanDisk) If you lost it/broke it, would you replace it with the same thing? The upgraded model? Would you consider other MP3 players like a Cowon? What factors do you consider when buying an MP3 player?
  4. Recently I misplaced my Portable Multimedia Player, or PMP. A PMP is a handheld device designed to play movies, music and display images and/or text. Many devices we call MP3 players are techinically PMPs, though we all know what people mean. I've one last place to look before I am forced to buy replacement. It got me thinking, what do you have? I misplaced my Cowon A3. Cowon is a South Korean company founded in the mid-90s. They make high-end MP3 players and PMPs, but have limited distribution in the United States (basically you have to but in NYC, LA or online). I bought my A3 for a few reasons. Sound quality. Cowon devices have some of the best (if not the best sound quality) of any PMP/MP3 players. I actually had to buy Sennheiser headphones just to do my A3 justice. Video quality. My A3 came with a 4-inch hi-definition screen capable of playing 720p with 16 million colours. It was beautiful and only semi-reflective so it was clearly visible in low to bright light, the only time the screen isn't visible is high-noon on a sunny day. Compatibility. It can play virtually anything except an FLV. The list of audio, video, and graphic codecs and containers spanned two pages in the manual. TV recording. I was able to plug my A3 into the TV and record shows at TV-quality. Memory. 60 GB hard drive. Yes it was a disc, but it was a big disc. Now, I'm not trying to sell you the A3 (if you can still find one), it had plenty of drawbacks. Battery life was atrocious. 8 hours of music at best and a 3 hour movie was all I could get out of a full charge (which took 4 hours plugged in while off to get). The navigation was clunky. The little joystick was awkward and since it had an HD screen they made it hard for protection (no touchscreen). The firmware was not intuitive once you got past "play" and if you had a long list of music (I had 30 gigs on it) it would take forever to find the artist and song you wanted. However, as an audiophile it was worth the $350 dollars I spent on it about 2 years ago (and $50 for the headphones). I just carried the charger with me and plugged in whenever possible. When I had 2-hour breaks between classes one semester I watched 2 movies a week at school. Sound quality is the most important feature of a device for me, which is why I cannot stand cell phones as MP3 players. The sound quality is just not there. Now that I am facing a possible replacement I've immediately gone back to Cowon. I'm a brand-loyal person with a distaste for certain iThings. My MP3 player before the A3 was a SanDisk which was a great value device I used for years. I realised I was being a bit "closeted" when I went straight back to Cowon, especially when an Amazon search turned up an Archos product. So I have a few questions for the folks here at GA. [*]Do you have an MP3 player or PMP?[*]What brand? Model?[*]Are you loyal to this brand?[*]What is the most important feature of an MP3 player/PMP? ( i.e.
  5. I shower. Always. Think about it, when you shower you wash all of the dirt off of yourself and it goes down the drain. When you are in the bath where does all that dirt go? You sit in it. So no matter how hard you scrub, no matter how much soap you use, you are still sitting in the filth you are trying to wash off. Now mind you a bath can be relaxing, I used to read in the bath all the time, however to get clean it is always a shower. As for the fantasy, I plead the 5th. ^.^
  6. 100% first try. I participate in a study that asks me to do this every three years. There's a sheet with 100 of those on it. I am given 90 seconds and am asked to read through the sheet as quickly as possible saying the word. Then they turn the sheet over (same thing, different order) and I say the colour of the letters. As I got older there was more variation in word and colours. I'm experienced.
  7. I used to talk to my old Isuzu, well, it was a '96. I miss her lots. *sigh* She had some problems and I heard her cry often. She now rests in the Junkyard in the Sky. I now have a fancy new Mazda3 (thanks to 4500 obamabucks). I don't really talk to her, but I always make sure I never say anything bad about her while she can hear. So I guess I traded for a younger model with more kick. Even though the Isuzu was a V6 it was so heavy it wasn't as zippy as my little Mazda with the 4-cyl. Going from a midsize SUV to a compact was a change, but I'm used to it now.
  8. Oh boy. If I say The Lord of the Flies (Golding) I wouldn't be telling the truth, however that was the first book to pop into my head when I read this thread. The Giver (Lowry), as mentioned earlier, is another one that was very good, as well as Brave New World (Huxley). However, I am afraid if I said these books I would also be telling a lie, as much as I wish it was the truth. I might say Exile (Logston), that is the book that got me hooked on reading when I was 14. It helped me realise I did in fact like books, however it wasn't the best book ever. So I guess this is one. Then again there are several that made me wish i was illiterate; Dhalgren (Delaney) and Invisible Man (Ellison), for example.
  9. I know nothing about fantasy sports leagues, but I suppose I could get my butt kicked. Would it cost?
  10. Tell them this. Write it in a letter, an e-mail, a phone call. That's all you can do really. As others have said, it is not up to you at this point. Extend the olive branch, but don't expect them to grab on. Emotions are very powerful and cloud judgment, like James said.
  11. You need Adobe Acrobat Professional to edit text in a PDF. You cannot do this if the PDF is a graphic PDF (such as one created by scanning or in PhotoShop). If it is a graphic PFD you can use optical character recognition (OCR) to translate the image into text. This comes with some scanners or can be purchased otherwise. Remember that you can open PDFs in PhotoShop to have more photomanipulation tools.
  12. I love iCarly. It's so funny, not to mention Nathan Kress. I also like The Suite Life on Deck and The Suite life of Zack and Cody with the Sprouse twins. I also must admit to liking SpongeBob SquarePants a bit. Nephy, Hannah Montana? That show is terrible! Poor kid isn't going to know good TV...
  13. The Lions. I can't help it, okay? It's the way I was raised. Other than that as long as it isn't Dallas I don't care much. I hate Dallas.
  14. It would make it much harder to legally carry out a raid like this. They would at least decline in frequency drastically because whoever ordered the raid would have a ruined career (legally not socially) if his(her) false allegation doesn't turn out to be true. Of course corruption can facilitate anything. I don't expect the hate to end. I don't expect the hate to ever end.
  15. +1 Honestly, I'm not shocked. I am appalled, but not shocked. Until gay people are considered equal under federal law/constitution this will happen. I just wonder where it will happen next. Hopefully not anywhere I am.
  16. I linked to the official music video. All footage in the music video is original material created exclusively for the music video. Note that Billy is the "other son," Billy Gilman has never acted in a film, only music videos.
  17. "Oklahoma" is not from a movie. It is a single from his album One Voice (2000) with the other single on that album being "One Voice." The music video was shot and produced as a music video and not as part of any film. "Oklahoma" topped out at number 33 on US Country charts.
  18. These are linked to YouTube. ; it is a pretty powerful song about foster care. It makes me cry every time I listen to it for some reason. ; this used to make me cry when I had lost the love of my life. It prompted me to contact him again. Now it doesn't. I'm in class or I would listen to your song Johnny, later today.
  19. I can only mark 18 of them, but about half of those I was assigned in school to read. Some of my favourite books are on that list (i.e. Brave New World) but also some of my least (i.e. Invisible Man). Guess I have a reading list now at least! Hehe. Rilbur: To Kill a Mockingbird is about racism. The Lord of the Rings challenges God. Edit to address Rilbur
  20. "Yes, but I have not done it as of yet." So I can't say it is better or worse. Not that I'd have much to compare it to. Yay inexperience. I exclude cybersex, that isn't really sex. I had cyber"sex" with a person I'd never met IRL before. Well, he has cybersex and I typed awkwardly into the messenger. I would not exclude hiring a prostitute, especially when traveling abroad. In fact I have even made plans to do so, however never following through because of financial limitations. The plan is now "on-hold." I don't see a problem with paying for entertainment. However, sex for free with a stranger from a bar isn't something I am interested in. I can't say I would refuse when inebriated, but if sober I'd rather have it be romantic or a pay-per-play. Something shady about going to a bar just to have free sex, or sex for the price of a roofie. Always safe sex though. There's no other kind. I would only consider unprotected sex after marriage and extensive testing. Edit: comma for clarity; it completely changed the meaning of a sentence.
  21. From my mind: "The Roof Is on Fire" - Rock Master Scott & the Dynamic Three "Don't Jump" - Tokio Hotel (Well, it's about jumping off of a roof...) From Google: "On The Roof Again" - Eve 6 "Roof Garden" - Al Jarreau
  22. Whole New Thing (2005) – A Canadian film about a boy and his teacher that fall in love. The teacher knows better and the boy won't admit it. An interesting view on “love” versus “sexuality.” Very good movie. Makes my top 10 movies ever list. Get Real (1998) – British film, it was good but not earth-shattering. wild tigers I have known (2005) – A great film but a terrible film at the same time. I really enjoyed it once I got past the terrible special effects. If you pay attention the acting is not terrible, it is very good. I still haven't fully understood the movie, and I enjoy watching it over again trying. Something I almost never do. It's a trip. American film. Du er ikke alene (You Are Not Alone) (1978) – Perhaps the best movie ever in existence. Not only does this address homosexuality in an exciting and honest way it also addresses breaking the status-quo on homosexuality. It is Danish, by the way. Voor een verloren soldaat (For a Lost Soldier) (1992) – An excellent film that addresses the coming of age of a young boy and displays a pederastic relationship in a positive light. Dutch film. Ma Vie en Rose (My Life in Pink) +1 Beautiful Thing +1 L.I.E. +1 Ang Pagdadalaga ni Maximo Oliveros (The Blossoming of MaximoOliveros) +1 Sommersturm (Summer Storm) +1 The Rocky Horror Picture Show -1 – Terrible film. Edit: Formatting.
  23. I find the amount of support for this relationship astonishing. If he was 18, or even 20 I'm sure we'd be hearing a whole different tune. Finishing his master's or not. However, I say go for it. You have my unconditional support. Many happy years to you both. Love is not something that happens between two identical people for a reason. Take your differences and love them, don't squabble over them. Please though, take my advice with a grain of salt, as I have never had a successful relationship.
  24. Tell him to contact Texas' Health and Human Services Commission. They can help him secure affordable housing and may even pay for the housing until he is back on his feet. Sure there is tons of paperwork, but it will help him and his partner for a few months while they secure a steady income and shelter. Texas Department of Housing and Community Affairs: http://www.tdhca.state.tx.us/ Texas Online Portal: Housing Assistance: http://www.texasonline.com/portal/tol/en/gov/7/9 I work for the equivalent of the Texas HHC in Michigan, the waits are long and the paperwork is daunting. However the help is real, it saves many wonderful people from terrible situations. Asking for help, especially from the government, is a very difficult thing to do. However it is assistance that he needs. I suggest you try and convince him to seek help from the government. He's paid his taxes, he will continue to pay his taxes, the government is there to help. He will contribute far more to the government over his lifetime than the government will contribute to him for a few months collecting assistance.
  25. I have heard that in many professional competitions that new material that those full body suits are made of is being banned. I wouldn't be surprised to see professionals going back to just the brief speedos, as I am not sure the full body suits give an advantage over skin if not for those materials that are being banned. Of course, I am no swimming expert, so please correct me if I am wrong.
