  1. @Doha thank you. So glad that you enjoyed the story. And thanks for adding a review ❤️
  2. "Mark I am sure you will remember it..." Of course. I just didn't realise it was so bloody old! LOL MP
  3. Spending an afternoon by the lake was one of those things I had always treasured while living in Thompsonville. When we were younger, more carefree and without any commitments at all, Aaron and I had done this often. We would watch the kids out on the water, sailing or paddling the floating trikes, or even simply throwing a line in along the shore with their grandfathers, perhaps trying to catch something for dinner, or perhaps just sharing some quality time together. Doing that same thing
  4. Thank you @quokka ❤️
  5. Haha @Summerabbacat I haven't heard that in years! What a fitting tribute! 🤣😂😅
  6. It was only a few minutes later when we arrived back at Luke and Matt’s house. As we drove I mentioned to Aaron that I needed to shower and change before going into town and he looked across at me and grinned. ‘Do you think that’s such a good idea?’ I asked. ‘Probably not,’ he replied. ‘You know, it feels strange, all this getting to know you again stuff . . .’ ‘What do you mean?’ ‘Well, after everything that we have shared, I feel I already know you better than I know anyone
  7. @Summerabbacat Focus, you must, Grasshopper!

  12. I did say it's complicated, but not quite THAT complicated. 😀
  13. Nah, it's different here. 🙂 We don't have 'property taxes', but we do have various land rates, which are supposed to cover the services provided by the councils. I think there is another which is based on property value, not house size, but the aren't massive (unless you live in the really expensive suburbs). And rural properties are different again.
  14. The gravel road that led up the hill was straight and well formed, although in places there were cracks, some at least an inch wide, up through which weeds could be seen growing. I had the distinct impression that the road wasn’t being used that often lately. As I walked up the hill I nervously looked around me, half expecting a guard dog to come hurtling down the road, with its mouth foaming, or for someone to jump out from behind some bushes and yell at me for trespassing, or worse still,
  15. @Geron Kees we can always depend on @Summerabbacat for his comments. ❤️
  16. @weinerdog let's just say it's complicated! lol
  17. It was just after dark when I arrived back at the guesthouse, so I decided I would check in with the outside world and then turn in early. After switching on my laptop and while waiting for it to boot up, I checked my phone. There were only two messages, one being from Harry and one from my brother; Michael, whom I hadn’t heard from in a few years. Harry, I decided, I could deal with tomorrow, as I needed to talk to him anyhow about when he might be coming down. When I tried to call Mi
  18. @Doha thank you so much 🙂
  19. You never disappoint @Summerabbacat
  20. @Paqman ok, I've figured out what to do! Will do some edits on ch. 10 when I'm online at home tonight, and chapter 38 will need a few minor changes as well. All fairly minor, but it'll sort this issue. I appreciate your picking it up ❤️
  21. Wow @Paqman nice pick up. Thank you! I'll have to do some more editing now! 😀 Stay tuned!
  22. What? No pavlova this year? lol
  23. As it turned out we weren’t the only guests who had been invited for lunch, with Dan Hamilton – whose mother owned the corner store – and his partner, Jake, also pulling up not long after we had arrived. I remembered them both from my time here before, having first met them the day that the garage had been firebombed by Red, and, along with all the rest of the gang, had become firm friends with them both afterwards. They became an integral part of our posse in the years that followed, bring
  24. "Mum, what's that white sauce on the meatballs?"
  25. Once! I used flip-flops ONCE! (I think) Apparently, I'll never live it down! LOL
