  1. -- Chapter Five -- I wasn't sure what time it was, but I had been lying awake for what seemed like hours, unable to sleep. I had been hoping I might have been able to get my rocks off again so that I might have been able to finally go to sleep, but it wasn’t to be. The silence stretched out, interspersed only by the quiet snores coming from the next room. 'JJ . . . are you awake?' I heard Pete whisper into the darkness a little while later. I froze. 'No,' I replied after a
  2. @Summerabbacat and others. Perhaps you might like to see my AI created vision of JJ and Dallas. It's kind of close enough to what I had in mind ... though you may notice JJ's appearance is slightly different to what was described ... that'll be explained later ! 😋
  3. - Chapter Four - We had been told by Spills and Birdie to have our gear packed away and be back at the mess hall within the hour, so that we could be briefed before starting the first part of our lessons for the two days we would be here. Today we would be looking at the history of the place, while tomorrow the plans were to visit one of the few old mines that were still in good enough order for us to be able to enter and explore. Pete and I met up with Merry and her roomie, a gir
  4. @Summerabbacat "perhaps some brumbies will emerge from the National Park and kick some serious arse" ... now why didn't I think of that? LOL And I'm loving the deep thought that ALL you guys are putting into this!!!
  5. - Chapter Three - Having survived my first day at school following my disgrace I went there the next day feeling a little more confident within myself, although still not exactly feeling as if I were totally ten foot tall and bulletproof . . . at least not yet. I would be lying if I said I wasn’t feeling at least some nerves, but when all things were considered what could happen to me, really? Maybe they would call me names, which they had done all day yesterday anyhow! Maybe they coul
  6. @Summerabbacat amen, brother!
  7. - Chapter Two - I guess there are worse fates than being stuck in the library at lunchtime for your own protection, but right at this moment I was having difficulty thinking what they might be. As promised, my personal security deployment saw me safely to the library door shortly after the lunch bell rang, and that was where I stayed for the duration, with only Rosie, the Assistant Librarian, and a couple of uber-geek kids to keep me company. I had a feeling that, somehow, I was going
  8. @Paladin oh yes! Their track record is well known everywhere!
  9. @Paladin a good point you raised. I started writing it about 2012, and while many Catholic institutions may have had "policies" about these things, I am sure that some are slightly more liberal than others. I seem to recall a teacher at my Catholic high school who by today's measure would be class as camp, but perhaps they had a 'don't ask, don't tell' kind of policy.
  10. @VBlew it has been posted elsewhere previously, and it had a revision a couple of years back when I wrote the second half of it and completed the story. I'm just working on posting all my earlier stories to GA now. MP
  11. @flesco thank you so much for your very kind words!
  12. Ahhh @Summerabbacat thank you! You never fail to disappoint! ❤️
  13. Red Light Special, down the back!
  14. Oh, absolutely! 😋
  15. - Chapter One - Okay, so it’s Monday morning and I’ve made it through another weekend. I’m not sure if that’s actually a good thing yet or not, because this one was a close call. A very close call as a matter of fact. If I’d had a convenient cliff on Saturday afternoon, or perhaps if a nice deep crevice had opened in the ground beneath me, well maybe things might have been different. In fact, things might have been very different, and I might not be now walking toward my first period o
  16. Not all friendships last forever, but that doesn’t necessarily mean they are truly beyond salvation, does it? When JJ is outed at school, he thinks his world has fallen apart, but thanks to the support of his friends, Merry and Pete, he survives the ridicule and harassment. Even his former best friend, Dallas, appears distant, so what will happen when the two of them are thrust together on a school camp, and then thrown into a dangerous situation? Will they be able to work past their differences? Or is their relationship truly beyond salvation? Only time will tell!!!
  17. @Summerabbacat what an odd little delight that was. Kind of catchy, isn't it? LOL And thank you for your suggestions . . . I've received quite a few of these today . . . enough for at least another story or two! *mwahahaha* I'll be starting the posting of another story or two shortly, so stay tuned! MP
  18. That's what other stories are for ... to fill in gaps stay in touch with all the characters in some way, even if those other stories aren't directly about those characters. You'll see! 😉 But thank you for your reaction. It's always great to see people wanting more! ❤️ MP
  19. We left the garage empty-handed, as it quickly became obvious that our visitor had nowhere in there where he could hide. That meant that the next most likely target was the adjacent cottage, or whatever other cubbyholes may be nearby. ‘He sure has an advantage over us,’ Luke said as we followed the path towards the cottage. ‘He’s already had a chance to explore the place.’ ‘Yeah, I agree. But surely there can’t be too many places where a kid can hide out around here,’ I replied. ‘
  20. Once we all got moving, the walk was quite a pleasant one, with even the grumbling parents seemingly enjoying themselves. Our little troupe quickly strung out, with some really stepping out and powering along, while others chose to take it more easily. Aaron and I fell into the latter category, as did Mike and Carol, and Jess and Kellie. We chatted as if the years that had come between me and my siblings had never existed, and we caught up on a lot of what we had missed out on. Aaron joined
  21. @Calvin should be more of them I reckon! 😉
  22. @Summerabbacat ahhh ... nothing like a greasy breakfast after a big night out! lol I hadn't even thought about the Brady bunch reference with Mike and Carol . . . but now that you've mentioned it . . . 😋
  23. So, I have to admit that it took me a little while to get into this . . . but damn! I need more! lol
  24. ‘And just where the hell did you guys get to last night?’ Matt enquired as soon as he and Luke sat down alongside us by the fire. ‘We missed you.’ Aaron and I exchanged glances. I think we were both wondering just what, or how much, we should tell them? ‘The beach,’ I simply replied. ‘Then we watched the fireworks from the picnic area on the town trail, on the ridge just below the lighthouse.’ ‘Yeah, it was a fantastic show,’ Aaron added. ‘They had it all set up on these barges ou
  25. Thank you @Summerabbacat. I totally agree about Hot Chocolate ... most underrated! Had to chuckle about the reference to Hit Me With Your Rhythm Stick ... I haven't heard that in a while! I'm thinking Tony just wants to say to Aaron, Come on Baby, Jump in my Car though! They are Aussies after all! OMG .. the RIPPER albums! I remember them well! https://funkyduckvinyl.com/second-hand/rock/various-ripper-76-lp-g-vg/?srsltid=AfmBOopqx2yjHfrlNi9IyIFWC3Sqv_DfAa0JGvruk96qiOnwDCl4YmZh
