    Uclaimed Hearts

Unclaimed Hearts is the touching story of two lonely, troubled men who meet by happenstance, provide each other comfort and compassion, which turns into an abiding love.

    Chapter 6

I can’t stop laughing! John heard a high pitched sptttt! In the same instant his olfactory network was bombarded with a fried egg... and then You'll do a hellavu lot of begging before I get close to that hazardous chemical leak again.

    Chapter 5

In my personal experience, the family of choice far exceeds that of birth. Great story!

    Chapter 1

Angst, sorrow, regret, and self-recrimination are all powerfully written. Gordy’s departure is sure to be interesting!

    Chapter 30

What can I say, I like to read! LOL

    Chapter 30

Wait, what?!?!! Nonoo, no, no, no!!! This cannot be where the story ends, at the most gut-wrenching chapter? There will be more, right??? 😭

    Chapter 31: Grieve

All those medical bills can be a nightmare of unraveling one’s life, only to feel worse after a loved one succumbs to their illness(es). We hit a mil easy; long-term effects devastating.
  8. Regret, really? One is expected to have regrets should they decide not to return to the scene of the crime of abuse and their abusers? Just the idea leaves me mystified. Alex endured 17 years of hell, after which he returned to allow another opportunity for those vile excuses for parents to abuse him yet again. LaKuntia, as Summerabbacat has so aptly named her, has not changed, nor would she. Alex would be wise not to bother to go to the hospital. Perhaps not all will be lost on this trip, though, if only he and Finn can make amends.

    Chapter 7: Talk

I believe the semi-trailer was enroute to Alec’s home to pick up his parents for the reeducation camp and a few minor surgeries. 🤣
  10. Worse today? Not sure about that. Back in the day, it was fists and occasionally a knife. small hick town with smaller minds. Out and proud at school? Ha, not freaking likely. Kids were brutal and often in the name of religion. That saying that there’s no hate like Christian love, yeah, again brutal, and the adults were even worse.

    Three: Get Together

Worse is at 18 they can be given a gun and sent off to war. Makes absolutely no sense!

    Three: Get Together

Thank you!! I've been wondering the same thing. Seriously bad move on Finn's part. SMH Now I'm cracking up envisioning Prozac laced water supply. Briliant. 🤣

    Two: Puppy

Alec’s character is written with a painful beauty. Anxiety is a real beeaatch to deal with, as for his choices in appearance, that makes perfect sense. Of course, he presents himself differently from others because he is different. Those who have traveled that road get it.

    One: Encounters

I'm with drpaladin. Well, for the most part, anyway, the only applesauce I’ll eat is homemade by moi, with plenty of cinnamon and secret ingredients. Oh, and the apples cannot be peeled. Without texture, applesauce is almost slimy, triple bleh.
  15. The Seven7h Magpie is haunting in that it speaks to the experience of too many children, but written with compassion and dare this reader say, hope.

    The Seven7h Magpie

The first two words that came to mind were “hauntingly delicious.” Second thought was: don’t piss off a magpie!

    Car Boot

Oh, stinky boot! Not having noticed the story was on hold when starting, I’m now left on the edge of a cliff, anxious to read further.

    Short Story

Well, that was unique! LOL The only cringeworthy part was Donald Trump for HUD. Who would have thought in 2011 that it could be so much worse?

    Short Story

Interesting and well done. Smart move on Brad’s part to leave a voicemail for his roomie. Bravo to him and Jeff for contacting all the scumbags’ former victims. He didn’t get everything he deserved, but it was a start.
  20. Buy One, Get Two and Three... is a well-researched, beautifully written story of three young men recovering from a traumatic past and coming into their own. Together, they provide each other strength, compassion, support, and a safe place to fall. Readers might want a box of tissues handy, as there are plenty of sad and happy tears to be had.

    Chapter 70

Such a great story, I had to come back for a second read. It would be fun to look forward to the future and how life develops for the triplets.

    Chapter 66

Ugh, insecurities and even worse in survivors. Poor Daniel couldn’t tell how much he was truly loved.

    Chapter 57

    Daauumn so freaking sweet!

    Chapter 4

Back for another read, and I’m loving this story as much as I did the first time. Reading the comments on the various characters is amusing knowing what’s to come.
  25. The Secret Santa Game is a delightful story of an imaginative teacher, Richard Donaldson, who inspires both change and growth in students. What is presented as a reimagining of a yearly game into an educational contest has far-reaching effects, affecting not only students but faculty alike. If only such a program could be introduced into real-life schools!
