Nature? I think Tabbty really is taking the wrong angle there. Birds go south because it is their nature. But despite all kinds of new age-philosophies, humans aren't animals. We have (re)created part of this world precisely by domesticating ourselves, by, if you want, taming ourselves/our environment. There is no going back to "Nature" for us.

Surely, loving is not, as suggested above, about "making real love" (aka "fucking"), nor about domestication/domesticating? It must be about sharing, which inevitably means giving up some pre-conceived notions of "self".

I just loved this chapter. It shows both men have some guts. And does so in a wonderful culinary context. Pity about the "fegato alla V", though: my favourite, too. -
Inevitably, "yet" here means: "soon". For who wouldn't want to swiftly bed a latter-day Capability Brown or Humphrey Repton? Who might even discover a secret garden in a body?

I must confess I've read this diagonally, simply to discover the few sentences A speaks to reveal his long- standing feelings (though, admittedly I wonder why he cannot be more open about them) and L's still rather inept reactions. Does one really need an orgasm to have an epiphany about one's feelings for someone else?
