Dave, Congrats on what sounded like a great first day! It sounds like you didn't have to deal with outing yourself at work. Whenever I ever started a new job, I had to guage how much I wanted people to know, not always telling the 'truth' upfront. With my most recent job, I started out from Day 1 letting people know I was gay (no vague pronouns or references to 'roomate') and it worked out for the best. Now that TLW is over, I'm trying to think back to the most memorable scenes and figuring out who my favorite character was. For me, my favorite scene goes all the way back to Chapter 1, when Owen is reunited with Tony and Chris in the Hospital. Owen wakes up and sees the eyes staring at him and he knows right away who it is. You can feel the relief that Owen goes through, then the panic because he's going to tell them that he's gay. Only to then find out that Tony was gay. Most memorable scene and the start of my personal addiction to Domluka writing. For favorite character (not including Owen), I think overall it has to be Ryan. His friendship and loyalty to Owen is more than anyone can hope for and he just seems like a genuinely nice guy. He keeps things positive and he's more than willing to back up a friend. Nicky comes in at a close second (Hmmm, I wonder if I just have a thing for the straight guy best friend type...) Vic

I too am sad that TLW is ending, but Chapter 30 was a good way to end it. Owen had closure with all of his boys (Adam, Nicky, Dennis) and Aiden & Nicky can at least tolerate each other. Thanks Dom for the ride!!!!! Vic P.S. - Although TLW is ending, at least Apollo is back !!! We've missed you!

Thanks everyone!!!! I planned on spending a low key birthday (we had a graduation and 39year retirement party to go to yesterday) but it turned out much more fun than I planned. After opening presents, the BF and I went shopping and out to my favorite place for lunch. I got a call from most of my family who sang me happy birthday (they were all at a baby shower for one of my cousins). Had a BLAST at the retirement party where we stayed until about 2am. They sang me happy birthday there with a cake (unexpected) and we spent most of the night drinking and hanging out in the pool & spa. I didn't think the party was going to be that much fun, but we met a great couple from San Francisco who were down for the retirement party and it was great to hang out with them because they were our age and one of them was white and the other filipino - just like the bf and I. The bf got me an ipod shuffle, a new calphalon pan, and a bunch of DVDs ('latter days', 'But I'm a cheerleader', and a classic 'Jeffrey'). Anywho, thanks everyone for the birthday wishes. You're right, Owen has made peace and has had his closure with Nicky. We had a very long and full chapter about their reunion and repairing of their relationship, Dom doesn't need to do anymore with it. And while Nicky might have some bit spots in Ch 30 as well as a supporting role in a future spin off (similar to Ryan and Lacy role), Dom's not going to be writing anything major about Nicky. Nope, the next story will be about some angst ridden, self-centered, 'I'm oblivious to all the clues right in front of me', gay boy Vic the Domaholic P.S. - I've re-read Chapter 29 four times already because I love it so much. I wonder if it has to do with the whole 'you know he's straight but you can't help getting whatever kind of affection/attention/emotion you can get from him'. If I were Owen, I'd be smiling so big on the inside knowing that you had that kind of effect on Nicky - you know that he was miserable without you, keeping Owen's seat empty, dumping Anna. That's a lot coming from someone who doesn't want to sleep with you.

Shoot me, shoot me now. I'm going to have to agree with Conner on this. Although they won't live a few houses down from each other, their friendship will grow stronger. Nicky has shown that his friendship isn't bothered by the 'gay' thing and Owen is finally able to be 100% truthful with Nicky. While the friendship will flourish, there will be tension. Nicky was always Owen's first love and those feelings just can't be turned off. Sure, the regular sex that Aiden will provide will be a distraction, but the feelings will still be there (and no, Owen won't act on them knowing that Nicky is straight). And while Aiden will be the 'supportive' BF, he can't help but be jealous and hate Nicky. All the interaction between Aiden and Nicky has been not so friendly. They'll be civil to each other for Owen's sake, but I don't see Aiden and Nicky hanging out alone together. There will be a begrudging respect for each other, but they are still and will always be rivals for Owen's affection/attention. Vic the Domaholic

Snow Dog, I think you'd have a better chance of achieving your goals if you get adopted by George Bush Sr. You could be groomed for the presidency (you could probably get in before Jeb's turn), and then you'd have a vast arsenal of democracy (read: lots of nuclear weapons) at your disposal. After what happened in Chapter 29, Owen's at a great place right now. He's got his loving bf Aiden and now Nicky is back in his life. Not only did Owen suffer without having his best-friend, but apparently Nicky did too. Nicky seemed to isolate himself in highschool and was also having family troubles. Hopefully being reunited with Owen will help Nicky in his life. I agree with many here that stories are so much more believable when all the characters aren't gay (although the mental image of Nicky, Owen, and Aiden having a threeway still gets me hot!). Nicky would be a great addition to Owen's new circle. Nicky and Ryan can workout together, Nicky and Lacy can date one another, and Nicky being around will keep Aiden on his toes and make him more passionate/possessive of Owen (like he did right at the end of Chapter 29). I also believe that this chapter gives us some insight into Brad and Quinn's relationship in TOU. Some believed that Quinn would never say the word 'f*g' because he was closeted, but as Nicky pointed out to Owen, 'you were more homophobic than anyone I knew'. Young adolescent straight guys and their closeted best friends do say stuff like that. Now I just wonder what will happen in Chapter 30 and what issues will be closed. Since this is more about Owen, will there be closure with his folks (either by them confronting each other, or just Owen coming to the realization that he doesn't need them anymore)? Will there be closure with Dennis the menace (or will that be saved for a future story)? Vic the Domaholic

What a great Chapter 29. Not only did we get a thorough explanation about Nicky, but it was nice to see that Owen was integrating the good parts of his 'old' life with his new life. The entire chapter seemed very believable: from Aiden's jealousy to Nicky's straight guy ways. For grins, I re-read the thread the log way Ch. 28 and it was fascinating to read some of the predictions. Several people were pretty close, but there some predictions from members who would one day be great soap opera writers . Thanks Dom for a pleasant chapter to read.
