    Chapter 12

May 21, 1797 The carriage containing the four men pulled up to the dock and Dr. Jackson looked out at Bacchante, and then looked at Granger with fear in his eyes. “My lord, won’t they come looking for me here?” “It matters not whether they look for you here or not, you will not be released into their custody,” Granger asserted. Granger sensed that Jackson didn’t quite believe him, but he also didn’t want to seem ungrateful by challenging Gra
  2. I think that the attributes you're looking for (the willingness of young men to foresake meaningless sex in exchange for meaningful sex) comes with maturity, influenced by the relative force of hormones. Even then, I think it's a matter of relative choices. Does the guy prefer mediocre sex to no sex? I'm willing to hypothesize that the majority of guys go through a slut phase, where they make the decision that any sex is good.
  3. I think you meant to say 'not' have sex with everyone. Because he is having sex with everyone because he can. Actually, I think Will told Jeff (and us) where he was at. He spent all summer chasing after love, and now he's in a mode to figure out the mechanics. He just wants to get laid.
  4. Nope. Hurricanes blow east to west. Pirates would need to travel west to east.

    Chapter 49

Did Jeremy pay you to post that? LOL. Maybe things will be nice and smooth. :-)

    Chapter 49

Well, this is Will's time, with the Norway thing.

    Chapter 49

Perhaps you will notice that now that Will has resolved his issues and is a FWB, he refers to him as Jeff, not Hot Jeff. ;-)

    Chapter 49

Everybody needs a Stefan or Armand to break them in. :-)

    Chapter 49

I'm not buying that argument about Weir and Lysacek. There are too many variables to make that conclusion, IMHO

    Chapter 49

There is supposed to be a calm before the storm, no? I figure the forums will flame up in a few chapters. :-)
  11. Pirate activity is going to be specific to the area. In the Western Mediterranean, there were Barbary pirates, as we've seen in the story so far. The Pirates of the Caribbean (SMILE) are in the Caribbean, and Granger hasn't spent much time there. There are also pirates in the Indies, but I have research to do on them still.

    Chapter 49

LOL @ the first two paragraphs. You're right, of course. As I write these stories, I periodically have those "Holy Shit!" moments about how bad things used to be. Seeing repressed ice skaters is certainly one of them, but I think the most pronounced for me (recently) was Brad and Robbie's wedding, where it was impossible for them to marry anywhere in the world. And that was in 2000, just 12 years ago.
  13. I think that one of the things about this chapter is that it's possible to take two entirely different perspectives on it. There's a little truth in both.
  14. Quite possibly Keep in mind that in those days, 'bigot' was not really an issue, since society was purposely stratified.

    Well put.

    Well put.
  17. I'll help out with Chapter 49
  18. I've actually pondered that, but I'm probably not going to do it. It delays Granger's departure longer than I want. Good thinking, Kookie!

    Chapter 49

October 30, 2000 Hamar, Norway Will Tonight was the big opening reception. I looked out at the room and there were hot guys everywhere. It was like a gay guy’s paradise. Skating sure built some cute asses. I tried not to look too lustfully at the guys, but it was hard. Damn. I strolled over to where JJ and Tiffany were standing around talking to other skaters. “Hey there! How are you doing?” I asked, giving JJ a big hug. “Great, now that I got some sleep. Jet lag suck

    Chapter 11

Actually, "Commander" is a temporary rank given to a lieutenant who commands a vessel. When he is done commanding that vessel, his rank reverts back to Lieutenant. It is similar to the rank of "Commodore", which works the same way. A captain can be made a Commodore of a squadron, but once he is no longer in charge of the squadron, his rank reverts back to captain.

No kidding. Let's freakin' sail already.

Similar to that old adage: If you lay down with dogs, you get up with fleas. Or something like that.

    Chapter 48

There's always hope. I think that Will is the kind of guy who goes along, goes with the flow, until someone messes with him, then he just loses it. I have a feeling Tonto was that way too. After a while, people learn not to screw around with you.
  25. Not really. They hire these really cute repressed Christian guys who like to blow you in the bathroom.
