Yeah, I think that assignment to the Indies provided chances for advancement and money, but also a good chance of death, so that wouldn't be the best station for a guy like Granger. I can see an officer like Calvert or Travers being thrilled to go there.
There's a time and a place for everything. We didn't need to know about Robbie's siblings before this. I thought the Poor Man's Son was so focused on Robbie's cousins that his niece or nephew may have clouded things up a bit.
Tony's not good enough for Will? You're like that parent who sits there, sullenly disapproving all the kid's boyfriends. ;-) I'm not sure if the airlines were charging for bags then or not, but I couldn't resist tossing it in. I get a couple of anachronistic passes on each story, no?
I'm glad you see it that way. Some older guys forgot their adolescence, and think kids like Will should be beaten until they bow deferentially to their elders.
I think Robbie's attitude, that he can only help those members of his family who ask him for help, is probably realistic. Once they ask him, he jumps in with both feet.

After Darius stopped being a dick, dinner turned out to be a lot of fun. We finished eating, and John, JJ, and I decided to go swimming. It was fun, but we only lasted for about half an hour before JJ got bored and I got tired of lusting after John’s body.
“I have to get some sleep,” JJ announced, and jumped out of the water. He walked toward the dressing rooms, not looking back at us. It was pretty sudden, and John just kind of looked aft
Thank you so much for your review, Renee. This story was actually a continuation of another anthology story, Furlough. Personally, I like Furlough better.
I got the inspiration for these two stories when I was doing some reading about World War I. I'd found my grandfather's gas mask in some old family stuff, and put it on, along with his helmet. It was a very strange and claustrophobic feeling, and somehow made the horrors of the WWI battlefield seem all that more real.

“I fear riding is difficult after last night,” Cavendish said to him as they trotted along in front of the carriages containing Their Lordships of the Admiralty. They made quite the convoy, with a detachment of mounted troops to dissuade any would-be bandits or others portending mischief.
Granger grinned back at his reference to their sexual extravaganza. “I do not seem to share your problem. Perhaps we can address that issue later.” Cave
Actually, before that we have JJ's competition in Norway. Foreign trips are usually calm and uneventful, though.
You can clamor for a few more days, then you get some more insight into the Darius situation, but it really isn't too hard to figure out. His little brother is growing up, and Will isn't willing to be the little brother anymore.
We don't really have a firm ( ) read on Carullo's sexuality. We can probably assume that since he had his own room, and seemed to have been there for at least a year when Matt and Wade were freshmen, that Carullo is a senior and they're juniors.
