If no existing word can work, why not invent our own word? One that does not carry the idea of possession, expresses long term relations with deep emotional attachments, and cannot be misinterpreted for any other kind of relationship. When hearing "life partner", it holds the meaning sought for a same sex relationship, but seems a bit cumbersome like a formal way to express the GLBT equivalent of an apolitical spouse without referencing any emotional depth.

Nah, they're in good company. I hope the Canucks can pull an upset and keep my picks alive Ugh!, the Bruins and Caps are tied, damn it I don't want this to go to game 7.

I miss them over by the Fort/treehouse, There's a large deal of stories around CSU, I highly recommend seeking out all of them, including the alternate reality ones too by multimapper. There's even crossover to Comicality story Gone from daylight in a fun twist and there's a particular short story that I had hand in crafting with the CSU crew, which was fun and my first experience in writing with a group. The universe is diverse and offers many different things to different readers. Here's the new forums for CSU in case you guys want to join up and stuff: http://csdhp.org/

Good Witch Vs. "Evil" Witch (The Lies of the Wizard of Oz)
W_L replied to John Doe's topic in The Lounge
Littlefield's interpretation is well known now in most high school history classes and is an accepted truth, though it is more of a theory that is widely held and supported with historical evidence like Evolution (can of worms coming with this statement, but I did not mean any malice with it), but again, not going to touch politics until stories are done. Sorry Blue, but if you want my views on the precious metal standards, it will have to wait. I am not going to be baited back into politics even in the GA lounge As for non-economic and non-political issues, anyone ever thought that Glenda was actually using Dorothy to begin with. I sort of got the impression that Glenda, the good witch, was manipulating her to kill the other bad witches and become the real power behind the feeble Wizard of Emerald city. Maybe the truth behind the curtain is that true evil is not based on looks, platitudes, or even seemingly benign actions, but intentions beyond our understanding (Yes, this idea is Lovecraft-esque and not Baum.) -
Best ripoff ever Yang Well, we're all still alive and a few of us might have done the deed between the email and now, so there's nothing to fear.

We have in this forum a very diverse community of writers, readers, editors, and people just hanging out. Some of us have grown up basically on this forum, there are teenagers and twentysomethings like me, who can attest to that. Some of us are old guys enjoying the conversations and the memories of their youth. Today, many of us have received this message in our inbox: I was shocked at the audacity of this message. I know some might be scared by this message, maybe some of you guys are afraid that your personal information will be released on a hate group's mailing list or you could be publicly outed in front of family, friends, or co-workers. However, the greatest power these types of people have over us is not the power of physical harm or public outing, but fear itself. If we allow these guys to corral us into isolation, censor our stories so no one can read them, and destroy this community with threats, they will won more than what a thousand bullets or bombs could do. They might know who I am, they might know who you are, but when it comes down to it, I am not afraid. At times in your life you got to stand your ground. I don't think any of us wants to move back into the closet, nor be kept under the reigns of a moral authority that holds no binding absolute jurisdiction as to what our lives and our thoughts should be. I am not afraid and I hope you guys can say the same.

Cool and spooky, I always wondered if there was life after death, too. I've seen shadows and passing glimpses, but never really heard them speak. Feeling a presence is one thing, but hearing them speak is different. If you go back again, can you ask them some questions for me: Why do Ghost haunt a specific place? Why can't they find their way towards an afterlife whether it be hell or heaven or whatever awaits us at the end of our journey? Why do they have to scare the living, even if we haven't done anything to them to deserve it? Why are they always appearing in different forms, like sometimes they can be little orbs of light, sometimes mysterious shadows streaking across a floor or pavement, or just plain show themselves to you in their full form? Still really cool stuff

Ooh, a duel of naval histories Olympic was scrapped after serving out her life as a liner and military ship in WWI. It still has many pieces lying around include its grand staircase and some of its wooden fitting, which is why I think using some of her parts to rebuild a new titanic or if my name sticks, Gigantic, would be fitting and honor her sister's memory. Also coincidentally, Britanic was originally intended to be named Gigantic, but the name was changed. I wished we had all three great ancient Greek Gods/Godesses as ships: Olympians, Titans, and Giants. According to Ancient Greek myth, the three were supposed to be the succession of power within the ruling powers of the world. As for the Hindenburg, it still remains an open mystery between sabotage theory to static electricity to spontaneous combustion due to the fuel leaking. However, personally though, I think Airships should be reconsidered in the 21st century for several reasons: 1. Hydrogen is cheaper than high octane gasoline 2. Air travel can be leisurely and not ear splitting painful 3. Simply put, high velocity jets at 20K feet are flying coffins for a good reason, while airships can at least be jumped out of with minimal injury. 4. I am a steam punk advocate, we can do so much more with late 19th century inventions than are actually feasible and fun. It's another one of my odd passions that I developed.

Can Vancouver recover and make up this 3-0 playoff series to come back at 3-4? The flyers did it in 2010, can Vancouver do it in 2012?

Perfect, so I don't have to rush back to Boston for my Birthday Okay 15-17th it is, thanks. Comicfan, you might want to edit your first post to show the date in the subject heading or in the first post as a bold text.

Well Germany has the famous Hindenburg air ship disaster: The Titanic 1912 and Hindenburg 1937 both became symbols of the early 20th century that mankind is not perfect, nor are our creations.
-
I want to make sure I know the dates were set sometime earlier. I need 2 months advance warning for a day off. Plus, if it is 15-17, then I would be much better off. June 24th is my birthday.

If I ever find a good boyfriend, who can live with my eccentricity and political views, he definitely needs to love movies. This particular movie was interesting, but very out of character for me: God Bless America The premise was what drew me towards it: I mean who doesn't have urges sometime after watching MTV to strangle all those reality TV stars for their stupidity? Or when you hear about Reverend Fred Phelps and his Westboro Baptists anti-gay demonstrators, who hasn't ever thought about taking a semi-automatic to exact some divine retribution? We would condemn it publicly and probably try to rationalize it as wrong or something maligned in our heads. However, there is a part of people and a part of me that feels it is about time someone pulls the trigger. In our darkest moments, those desires will surface. However, we have logic, reason, and a conscience that usually holds us back from taking the push towards murder. At times during the movie, I could hear myself saying this is wrong, then there are times where I feel it is right. Anyone else saw this movie on demand?

I can't drive, so it's urban high rates for me. Is it still June 22-24th? Should we plan out an itinerary, book brunch, or register for a demonstration in front of Congress (if we have enough members )?

Blue, we have similar taste in comedy (Personally, I thought Happy Gilmore beats Caddyshack as the best golf/comedy movie, not really a fan of Chevy chase) Compared with the Ranger-Senators violence earlier, the Flyer vs. Penguin was a new level of ferocity that I never seen. I hate to say it, but it was entertaining; though it's entertaining in a way that Roman audiences want to see gladiators chop each other to bits The Flyers are looking like they will win the series at this point.
-
Is it always this exciting and violent? Also something I've always wondered about Hockey, has anyone ever took off their skates and use it to bludgeon the offending player during a game? I mean it just seems like fights can get escalated to that level really easily.

I enjoyed the Rangers game today, it made me happy to see that New York also isn't getting it easy. (Go Ottawa) (That's as far as I will go at taunting, not to mention the old Boston vs. New York Rivalry) Plus, after the Bruins game, I needed a hockey game that released some of my anger and frustrations with fighting

I'll see you guys in DC, but I really need to know where and if some one know a good hotel.

I am post dating and timing the release of this blog entry to the exact time the ship struck the iceberg. If there was one touchstone of my childhood and possibly the last century to the Titanic, it was this movie and song. Simply beautiful and tragic, makes everyone that saw the movie and heard the song in context feel just a little bit emo (heck, I think the movie probably created the emo generation ) :

Time for another upgrade, if you had several billion dollars. Apple should market this as the new Ipad 3Q, though they'll need to up sell It's cool, but I wonder if this would be feasible as a parallel network.

Lol Blue for the save! For those that don't know, we can all still change our votes as long as it does not conflict with another posters picks, right wildone? I didn't expect to win this as I am new to NHL stats and don't watch as religiously. As for moderation, hmmm, it's a good question, I thought it would be Trevor.

Philly is really showing their stuff, I'm starting to get second thoughts about my pick in the penguins.

You know the mystery of the Californian is one of naval history's most remarkable legacies from the Titanic. Did Capt. Stanley Lord really refuse to come to aid the Titanic after seeing her warning rockets? Was the ship really 19.5 nautical miles away? For over 100 years, nearly every board of inquiry into Titanic has found fault with SS. Californian's Capt Stanley Lord's decisions during the night, even in his lifetime the Titanic haunted his entire career. There's also a possible third alternative that most people disbelieve that it was not the Californian next to the Titanic during that night, but a Norwegian sealing ship, which was illegally sealing in the North Atlantic. This story is another new concept, but it seems like it would contradict eyewitness testimony from the Californian crew members who saw the rockets close by.

Blasphemy, my Amarrian toon shall torch you with lasers I know what you mean, but I built my eve accounts up and I really can't stop, they are now a self sustaining, which is fun part about the game. Plus, the developers keep adding new stuff into it and the orbital bombardment feature will be epic. Still, I wish I can kick this habit.
