    Chapter 1

I’m thrilled that your muse has decided to return! It’s exciting to be reading a brand new story from the @Ronyx! ;–) Jack’s family certainly has a lot of hopes to be gaining new best friends! It’s always a pain when parents rope you into doing things for people you’ve never met though. I can still remember being drafted by my parents, but there were a few times when I refused to cooperate – my mother wanted me to befriend the younger brother of a man from their church. I was a little older than your protagonists, but my befriending the guy might have made for good fodder for you. He was a little too tempting and I wasn’t out of the closet at that point… ;–)
  2. Or they could do a People Magazine story (upper right corner of the cover)! Or maybe a sleazy tabloid cover article…

I can only remember my mother forgetting a gift once. After everything had been opened, she started to wonder why she hadn’t seen one particular gift being opened and realized it was still hidden. She had to go find it, but that was still on Christmas day… ;–)

    Just Desserts

I’m waiting for someone to create a mouthwash-flavored ice cream! They could name it after you, just like Ben & Jerry’s does. Of course, they’d have to ship a complimentary case or two to you to enjoy! ;–) You’re secretly a just a grumpy old curmudgeon like me, aren’t you? ;–)

    Part 4

Why not? ;–) In California, the state has mandated that an increasing percentage of electricity be produced by renewable sources. This has forced PG&E, SoCal Edison, SDG&E, and other California utilities to do the right thing, regardless of whether they would chose to do so on their own. The state also mandates that excess solar-produced power be purchased by the utilities. ;–)
  6. On rereading this chapter, this particular phrase leapt out at me! I just love the way you put the words together. ;–)
  7. New Comments make me reread at least the other Comments, but in this case, the whole chapter too. ;–) The Principal wants to blame the symptom on the victims in order to maintain his own idea of what a good school looks like. Blaming LGBTQs and their allies for bullying is like blaming a sexual assault victim for how they dressed. In most places and in most situations, victim blaming has been ruled illegal.

The vast majority of the non-profits I’ve dealt with rely on donated furnishings. There are a small handful which are generously endowed that have beautiful, gleaming new buildings complete with fancy, coordinated new furniture! But most struggle to keep functioning on meagre grants and donations.

    Part 4

Aside from trees or vehicular accidents bringing down power lines, the only other time we usually get power outages is during the very rare large earthquakes. We just need to fix our PG&E problem – I think California should buyout the shareholders and turn it into a non-profit. Reducing our reliance on large fossil-fuel-based generation plants in favor of large numbers of solar panels and wind turbines will make things less likely to simultaneously fail over large areas.
  10. Maybe you should read this book if you’re going to be bouncing around in time! ;–)
  11. They also say we’re supposed to be getting some sort of weird fluffy ice stuff falling on our highest peaks… it just doesn’t make sense! ;–)
  12. The temperatures I’m the Bay Area are dropping precipitously. We’re going from highs around 60°F (and lows around 50°F) to 50°F highs (and below 40°F at night). And water is supposed to be just falling from the sky during the next four days! Unbelievable! ;–) When I worked in a bookstore, we used to get the occasional advanced copies, but they used a different term that I just can’t recall right now (gutter copy?). ;–)
  13. Did you jump into your time machine again? You flubbed up the settings by a couple months. What about the timelines? Did you change our future again when you not only came back in time, but posted that message? ;–)
  14. Robbie is aware something is wrong, but doesn’t want to have it checked out by professionals. A very Male reaction. Man up. Fight through the pain. Don’t show any vulnerability. It’s no wonder we don’t live as long as women do! ;–)
  15. It sounds like Nathan’s going to continue to be a ‘cockwomble.’ ;–)

    Chapter 2

These chapters might be short, but significant things do happen in them. ;–) There are some authors who seem to repeat the same chapters over and over with only slight variations. It’s like their characters never learn anything. They seem to think they are writing for a US TV show (ie Star Trek’s notorious Reset Button which erases any development and change in the characters between episodes)! ;–)

    Part 4

Power came back on for about a minute or two and promptly failed again. It’s back on now. No explanation of why it went out in the first place. Living in an apartment, there is no option to get a home generator. I have a UPS, but I need a bigger one so my internet connection will stay up longer. I’d like to get on that has an auxiliary battery attached to it so it has double the endurance. We don’t get power outages all that often because our utilities are buried in this neighborhood – I think they did that when they decided to promote the (cross) street as our ‘Main Street.’ ;–)

Just imagine how the snowman felt! No respect for the snowpeople. You just let them melt away without a thought. ;–)

There was a ski resort in Switzerland that collapsed when an avalanche hit it! ;–)

Except we just got an unexplained power outage. It rained a little this evening, but there’s no real wind (which causes trees to fall, the usual cause of our outages). I suppose there might have been a traffic accident that toppled a power pole or something… ;–) I’d be winning if Richard Allen and I were dating or something… ;–)

Okay, I looked him up just for you! And even found a better picture: Richard Allen He looks much sexier on TV – and you get to hear his accent! But you can see why they interview him rather than some of the other scientists. Smart is the new sexy. ;–)
  23. I’d almost given up on Jamie & Ben getting back together. It was starting to seem like this was a story about a guy who just kept having a broken heart and/or left a trail of broken hearts behind him wherever he went. Jamie’s certainly done plenty of that already.
