    Chapter 19

At both my mother’s and my father’s (separate by about 2 years) memorial services, I couldn’t stop crying. It was all the emotion in the room that overwhelmed me. I hadn’t cried up until then, but watching sad TV episodes or reading sad chapters makes me cry a whole lot more than they used to.

Hmmm. You seem to operate on a Monday through Sunday week… ;-)

Well I’m glad you haven’t adopted your dozen kids yet or we’d never get more chapters of your stories! ;-)

    Teddy's Drug

I don’t drink milk or alcohol, so that’s really not something I’d want! ;-)

Oh, and congratulations on catching up, @deville! ;-)

But none of that is visible to Liz! She's going by what Ryder did 13 years ago! And until she slapped Ryder, second-hand tidbits from her husband, Blake. ;-) The problem is that we know more than the characters do. Everyone is learning new information about the people they thought they knew intimately for 13 (in the case of Oli) or more years! One question I have is whether Teddy can step back a little and delegate some of his responsibilities so he can devote more time and effort to Ryder (and continuing to rebuild his relationship with Oli) or whether he’ll burn out and crash himself? ;-)
  7. But that would just be them, acting in-character! ;-) I’m surprised they haven’t had any Drag Queens participating in the protests! Gay men in Drag and Transpeople have always very prominent in all of our protests, starting with the riots that happened in California as early as 1959! Stonewall was certainly not the first LGBTQ protest in the US with the Compton’s Cafeteria Riot beginning Transgender activism in San Francisco. ;-)
  8. David Ogden Steirs was best known for his roles on M*A*S*H (Major Charles Emerson Winchester III) and The Dead Zone (Rev Gene Purly). He denied being interviewed for an article in which he supposedly Came Out, but did not dispute the claim itself. He was known to have been Gay, but even his Wikipedia page does not mention a marital status or sexual orientation.
  9. I don’t know. Koreans get much more emotionally expressive than, say, the Japanese. Japanese people are the stoic ones who suppress their emotions even after disasters. Koreans are the ones who wail and cry when they are interviewed. (But Cho is definitely not a Japanese name!) While a concussion and a broken leg are serious medical conditions, the outcome could have been much worse for the boys. Accidents involving drunk drivers can be extremely deadly. And worst of all, the drunk driver is often the sole surviver. Drive-through liquor stores should be banned everywhere!
  10. Oh, my! The women are already starting to clash! Such wildly opposite personalities! ;-) The tarts sound tasty. But the only time I’ve ever had lamb was when my Turkish Uncle made us Shish Kababs. Lamb is not big in the US. ;-)

That problem was satirized in My Big Fat Greek Wedding with seemingly everyone named ‘Nick’! ;-)
  12. Oh, it renders okay. It just won’t go into Reader Mode. It’s not a font issue, it’s something in the software you use to export into the GA software. Something non-standard doesn’t tell Safari that the chapter is text. I’ve used Reader Mode even on things like recipes to get rid of ads and other extraneous junk that distracts from what I want. This is something that has been happening with your chapters for a long time. I’m not sure when it started. And like I said, I’ve had this issue with other authors in the past.
  13. Oh, so they’re Makarovian then? ;-)
  14. It’d be believable if they were ex-IDF since military service is mandatory for all Jewish Israelis, but don’t tell me they’re ex-Mossad… ;-)
  15. So are they going to be Chet’s bodyguards? ;-) Families are very messy. There are often people in them you’d rather avoid, but are connected to others you like! And you’re kind of stuck with them, you can’t really pick and choose! And religion only exasperates the problems. ;-)
  16. Whatever you’ve been doing is somehow non-standard and Safari refuses to go into Reader Mode. Firefox is less picky and will display its Reader Mode. Almost every other story on GA has no problem with Reader Mode in Safari. It seems to be something in the software some authors use.
  17. Did George leave evidence behind hidden in the coin collection? Did Jack have an affair with Paula too? Is there proof of something that will finally take down the evil minister? Did George invest in a few shares of Apple Computer? ;-)
  18. Does this mean that W.A.R. is ending with Commencement? Or will it continue on with College & Careers? And maybe Children? ;-)
  19. Clever author! She doesn’t even need to solicit suggestions. Readers volunteer ideas all on their own! ;-)

    Chapter 12

How ominous that the final chapter is #13. I’m not superstitious, but it’s so engrained in our culture that buildings don’t have floors with that designation and my building has a apartments #12 and #14, but no #13! Triskaidekaphobia is nearly as common as religion. ;-) TJ really needs to see a therapist. School counsellors are primarily focused on getting kids into college and are usually so overwhelmed that it’s extremely difficult to get an appointment to see one anyway. Unfortunately, his only friend is Carter, possibly the only student with a less stable background. He doesn’t have the kind of support that Randy has with Dean and Wilson. ;-)
  21. That’s why they append disclaimers to movies that characters, situations, and other details are fictionalized. ;-)
  22. I never had a friend like that. I think part of it was having to have moved at the age that I did. I went from fitting in to feeling like an outsider all at once. And I’ve never really found a place where I’ve felt like I fit in completely. That was an unbelievable conversation Billy had with his mother. It sometimes seemed like they’d never speak civilly to each other again. For a while everything they said to each other just triggered another argument! ;-) It’s ironic that he also had a civil conversation with Jen during the same evening! He got to learn more of the history of Jen & Jack. Plus he learned where Brett really got his name! Gay Brett got named after Gay Brett! ;-) And Billy gave Brett exactly what he’s been needing for weeks! ;-)

    Chapter 5

That was a nice weekend with only the homophobic server to mar the mood. ;-) I’m guessing that must have been Carlos or you wouldn’t have mentioned the incident… ;-)
  24. Well we know that Pat will do better than ‘Potty’! ;-) Paddy’s birthday has already been great! The new puppy: ‘not-Potty.’ An exotic flavor of ice cream from Middle Earth. Time with the dads and Riley. ;-) Congratulations to Detective Potts! ;-)

@Page Scrawler You never read @Timothy M.’s take on an inanimate object’s POV? ;-)
