    Chapter 1

I hope you were smart enough to buy candy that you like! ;-) About a decade ago, Long’s Drugs used to offer to buy back unopened bags of Halloween candy. But the Bay Area-based company was taken over by CVS and the name on all the stores (except in Hawaii) was changed to CVS. Long’s was founded in Oakland in 1938 and opened its first Hawaii store in 1954 (five years before statehood). One of the two founding Long brothers was the son-in-law of the co-founder of Safeway Inc. (Safeway reentered the Hawaii market in 1964 – it had left in 1934. See’s Candy was another California-based company that had stores in Hawaii from at least the ‘60s.)

That’s the magic of the Halloween holiday season! ;-)

    Chapter 70

As difficult as it is for us to read this chapter, I know how much more difficult it was for you to write it! In a small way, we’ve all been here for you. I’m sorry I can’t do more.
  5. I guess the sperm & egg donors would have pulled their financial support if Kyle and Kaleb didn’t show up for their event… Money is the only form of control or influence they have over the boys.

    Pain

@Wesley8890 Meanie! Leaving us with a cliffhanger! ;-)
  7. Usually faculty issues are not discussed in front of or with students (or parents). In this sort of situation, they would have excused Wesley before they had talked to Miss Jones. Her suspension definitely would have happened in private. There would need to be plenty of printed documentation before anything could happen. Too much legal liability if they did it this way. If the administration mishandled the suspension, she’d be back in the classroom right away – with backpay! ;-)
  8. This is an interesting antidote to the high school angst of the other stories I’ve been reading. Real adult issues. Issues that some of those same characters will be dealing with in the future. ;-) It must be painful for Eddie to see Jake like this. It’s clear that Eddie still cares about him. But it’s not clear just how much he cares… ;-)
  9. In the ‘70s, a church in San Diego split over the issue of dancing! ;-)
  10. I was hearing Will & Grace’s Jack McFarland (Sean Hayes) singing If I Could Turn Back Time! ;-) But Celine Dion? Yuck! (Canadians always get angry when I criticize her.) ;-)

    The New Kid

@Wesley8890 I just remembered they even had a special shelf under the first row pew for the hymnals!
  12. @Wesley8890 and even here!

  15. @Wesley8890 and here.
  16. @Wesley8890 I commented here.
  17. That should say at Erin’s funeral. For some reason I can’t edit the last comment. But of course, when I tried editing my JAM story comment, I kept getting lines that were stricken through – too long to fit or some other formatting error?
  18. @Wesley8890 Seamus saw his grandparents ah Erin’s funeral, so he has seen them at least the one time. But wouldn’t the grandparents have stayed for the wake too? It’s a long way to travel to only attend a funeral just to hop back in a plane immediately after! ;-)

    Chapter 10

Well it is very handy when you supply them! But you’ve rounded off the tines and put protective rubber caps on them! I’ll have to bring my own next time! ;-)
  20. I didn’t realize this was a time traveling story! Erin certainly was an older sister! She lived to the ripe old age of 60? Just how old are their parents and how did their mother have three younger children at her age (in her eighties)? There was also a reference to Wesley’s father being in his late 20s in a previous chapter. The pieces don’t seem to fit unless both of his parents were in college in their early to mid-teens! 18 + 11 = 29, but Wesley and Seamus are Freshmen in high school? Most parents of high schoolers are in their 30s or 40s. Most people need Spell Check, but maybe you need Math Check! ;-)
  21. Wow! You even supply pitchforks and torches! @Timothy M. makes us supply our own! Is that so you can round off the tines? ;-)

    Baby Steps

Not infrequently Closeted Gay men and Lesbians or people with low sex drives married each other because they were both comfortable with the lower expectations of sex and intimacy. This was more common in the past when homosexuality was less accepted by society and everyone was under pressure to get married. These days there is less pressure to remain in bad relationships just to avoid societal and religious stigma.

Don’t be in such a rush to put out new chapters. I’d rather that you took your time to work out all the grammatical and spelling errors. Just because they demand more chapters doesn’t mean you have to do it in a hurry. ;-)
  24. Seamus is very lucky. Something like 30-40% of all homeless runway youth in the US are LGBTQ. Most have been ‘thrown out’ by their sperm and egg donors.

    J.A.M.

Jack (English) is a diminutive of John (god is Gracious) or Jackson (son of Jack or John). Wesley (English) means From the West Field. Seamus (Irish) means Supplanter and is a form of James. Jacob (Hebrew) also means Supplanter! Aaron (Hebrew) means Exalted or Strong. Michael (Hebrew) means Who is like god? [JAM is circumcised?] Phillip (Greek) means Lover of Horses. Benji (Hebrew) diminutive of Benjamin (Son of my Right Hand – which sounds like a masturbatory euphemism to me).
