I disagree here. Sure it doesn't seem like a good message, but it's a song, with lyrics with is basically self expression. Maybe it's not a way of telling people to let their loved ones beat them, but maybe talking about a relationship where it had happened and yet she/he would have rather been beaten then without someone they "loved".
I'm against censorship for many, many things, including this. I'm not one for sheltering anyone (within reason), and personal responsibility should be a factor more often than not. Most, if not all adults know abusive relationships are wrong. Most of the the time, when you're in a rotten relationship, your judgement and rationality is clouded by your love for that person, which seems to be the message in that song, for me at least. Why censor that?
To protect children? They actually need to know these things. Not that being abused is glamorous, but that it DOES happen, and can happen, and that many (possibly this songwriter) will put their love for someone over their own well being first. There's a lot of bad things written in the world, granted. Religion causes more wars than domestic violence, but if I wanted to censor the bible, or remove it completely for being a bad influence, I'd be laughed at or bashed.
[quote Yeah, it seems exactly like that, but that's exactly how they tend to be. As far as I'm concerned, the song is truthful. It's sad, that it happens, but it DOES happen. Anyways, it's just a song, not a subliminal message trying to warp the minds of the masses.
