The writing and pacing was excellent in this chapter; you really felt the tension and dread from all involved... -
The suicide at the end really bothered me; why kill yourself; you just created more problems instead of trying to solve anything....

The death and destruction unleashed so far would be horrific but cannot imagine the damage a nuclear device would do to a place like Houston or New Orleans. The guy was right; no place in the country would have any oil in about a months time.

Taking a life; even under these circumstances would have to be traumatic. Hope the kids are able to handle all of it; hard to call them kids after this, but they still are so young. -
It is scary to think how one engagement can spiral out and effect so many parts of the world. Well, the raiders are here but they are in for a big surprise.

In a crisis like this; I am surprised that any network would air something like that without getting clearance. Who would give clearance to actually show the location of a government site; even if it is a minor one while a state of emergency is going on???

Even the best intentions can lead to disastrous consequences. I really do like how you have the issues facing the others around the world written into the last few chapters. It really gives you an overview of what these kids could be facing in the future; and what others are doing to prevent it...

A confrontation is coming one that will change how everyone views who they are and what they are capable of; you never truly know until you are in that position... Have to believe that all of the kids will pass this test; but will they be the same afterwards... -
Have to wonder who is going to find the raiders first? There are always those that will try and take advantage of a disaster for their own gain, lowest forms of life on the planet...

No matter how smart or well adjusted; the kids would have to be freaking out with everything going on; Tom is smart to keep them focused and with a plan. Good to get a little back history on the place and the man that built it.

Well one down; but you just know that the next domino is going to fall soon. The kids, and yes they are kids, have handled everything pretty well so far; but what will happen when they are under real pressure?

I think the Colonel and the techs are in for a surprise when they figure out how old their expert is. The pacing on this story has been just excellent.

I cannot even begin to imagine how terrifying something like this would be for an adult; much less a group of teenagers. Having something to do; a purpose, would make it easier I think, don't know if his father thought of that or it was just a happy coincidence that he needed a few things done. Self-awareness is rare for someone that age; but Tom seems to have it in spades...

I am pretty sure that I commented the first time I read this; but noticed you were making changes and noticed the comment is not there any more... Great beginning; really grabs the attention and makes you want to know what is going on and what will happen next...

Well, the Fire Chief got his and really cooked the Mayor, the Preacher, and the ex-Sheriff. Loved all the banter as well, it is just so well written and feels just right. Loved how Daniel's parents are turning out...

So enjoyed everything about this chapter; but especially Maria... You have just created a truly unforgettable character in her. Like the others, I can't wait for the Fire Chief to get his just rewards... Maybe the journal could be a whole new book in this series all by itself...

WOW, can we say what a quick change in Rebecca's outlook, even if I sort of understand the reason. And I had never heard of either band, but found the songs and they did fit the scene really well...

The doctor gives me the creeps... But I guess if Reynolds trust him that much, there must be something there. I really liked Skold and Rebecca's conversation at the end, not many people are ever as self aware as Rebecca has become...

So glad that Fendral has awoken; hopefully he will continue to fill in some of the information that Kellar needs to understand where he truly comes from and where he is going....

Really enjoyed this chapter; I do think that Raymond and Daniel could be a very interesting couple in the end, if they make it... It may be hard on Raymond to go back to a place that he grew up but has been gone for so long from; that is never easy. And with all the extra family issues involved because of his mother's actions, it may cause some pain before it gets better. Can't wait for the Fire Chief to get his comeuppance, and you just know that he will...

The Duke is subdued and maybe they can find out how to correct the problem he is having; since the technology obviously caused the change in him. Why do people or dragons always want to destroy what is different... Can't wait to see how you continue this story... -

Well, have to say that it wasn't an out and out lie; but so much admission will cause problems for some when the truth comes out... Have to see what happens; when what the Duke has done becomes known to the rest of his people...
