Damn, Granger is fighting a war and having to deal with his own family being up to something dastardly. I don't know what would be worse, Bertie being Bertie or Freddie acting like Bertie but without his charm... I have a feeling that Granger and Chartley are going to be more involved than anyone realizes at the moment..

Chartley is being an ass and it just doesn't make sense. There has to be something else going on, even if he is Granger's superior militarily; you just don't piss someone of Granger's influence off without a reason. Granger's plan gave them a chance to fight off the pirates, the wind may give them a chance to actually win. Let's hope they get off without to many loses...

I have to wonder why Izzy took off across the continent. This just doesn't make sense. I wonder if he did not want to travel with Lord Chartley. I have a feeling this is going to be a difficult voyage. I do find Chartley very interesting. I have a feeling that he and Granger may be enlivening each other's lives...

Well, Granger is going back to Naples and getting to deal with Izzy again. I have to wonder if that is going to be as easy as before. I do find Granger to be so interesting when dealing with people from such varied backgrounds. He finds just the right way to handle everyone.

I think that Granger had to get rid of Darby, it was just going to be a bigger problem the longer he was there. I do feel for Darby though, he lost Travers and now Granger in a very short period of time. I hope he is able to get his bearings and realize that what happened was for the best and is able to move on with his life in the navy. It is amazing what a few cannons can do to get someone's attention.

I have a feeling that Mr. Darby is going to be the kind of person that is going to worship the ground that Granger walks on and isn't going to be the kind to hide the fact. This may cause more issues than his promise to Travers makes it worth.

Granger had passed well into adulthood long ago but Travers death seems to be his death of innocence. Travers never knew the doubts that Granger had about their relationship and for that Granger is greatful and so am I.

I cannot tell you that time has dulled my reaction to this chapter at all. Each and everytime I have read this chapter, my heart just weeps. Travers was probably not the man that George was destined to end up with, their social positions were just too great. That being said, there is something about your first love that you just never get over. Travers was a good man and a very good Captain. He will be missed...

Well, the biggest part of the passengers are unloaded and on their way back to Spain. I am glad that Granger was able to help get them there. I do not trust Mr Ramsey, there is just something to fishy about the whole deal.

Granger going back to sea and with war with Spain declared, I am sure will see action quite soon. It is a nice gesture on his part and the Admiralty to take the Ambassador back to Spain.

A truly wonderful story and a great addition to the Bridgemont saga. I do wonder what Granger will do for an encore.

Glad to see that Cavendish has been able to make the most of this situation. With his position, that really should not have been to difficut. I am happy that he and Granger are still so connected. I do worry about him and Arthur though...

Welll, Granger made it back and will be lauded as even more of a hero. He and his men deserve everything they get. I am glad to see that the Lords of the Admiralty understand what he has accomplished. Mann just left? He should have been dunned out of the Navy at that point but he wasn't...

Where the hell is Mann? Did he get pulled off and sent somewhere else? I wonder where the Spanish and French fleets are heading out to? Granger and his connections pull it off again...

I am always glad to see Travers and George together. I do think they are starting to pull apart, even if Travers doesn't realize it. The gulf in their social standing would make it harder to stay together than most would realize. It was easier when Travers was so superior in rank to George but not they are almost even, it is harder to offset the other issues.

Elevation to the Collar would have been a major deal. It would place him very high in the King's eyes. The Duke of Medinacelli must have been very powerful at that time. War with Spain. It had to come but sad that Granger will be in the middle of it with his new friends.

Not sure anyone else could have done what Granger has done, but then he is the hero of our story... I am glad to find out that Carlos is going to be returned home. What they did to him was not all that unusual but it is still horrible to contemplate.

Granger saves another soul, I have to wonder who Carlos will turn out to be. You know that he isn't just some peasant. Few from the underclasses were that fluent with languages in those times.

Fortune has always favored the brave and no one could ever doubt that Granger has that in spades. I do hope that his luck holds, the Arab pirates of the era were not known for their nicities with captives, not even those of rank and privilege.

It is amazing that some of the best minds of the Royal Navy had to suffer because of idiots like Mann and his ilk. Often personal opinions and disagreements could ruin even a truly good officer or Captain; it is amazing that the Royal Navy managed to be so dominate for so long. Granger has the devil's own luck. I swear just when you think he is going to get caught up in something that he can't get out of, he does...

With the Duke of Cardona at his side, Granger got a chance to take a peek at one of the most important Spanish naval bases. He would be able to get information and confirmation that would be almost impossible for any other person in the Royal Navy.

Well, Granger has rescued another person of importance, even if they evening did not end all that well. The Duke of Cardona would have been a very influential person. Granger may have made a mistake by opening up to him that fully... Will be interesting to see how it goes. The cure for some disease back then were actually worse then the disease itself...

Not sure that Granger could really do anything other than what he did with the arrangment of the wine coming in; he could not take anything without being complicit and his honor would not allow that. He is probably right that it isn't a big enough issue to make anything out of.

Great chapter. I still haven't made up my mind about Zach yet, I still am not sure that I trust him but Will seems to have a good grasp and see's something in him or a change so.... I really loved the conversation between Will and Darius and Austin. Will and Darius are so good with understanding each other. Brad played the situation with Mendoza just right. Brad just isn't ready to have someone in his life that wasn't part of it before yet.

Yea, a reward for Granger and his crew for all their hard work. I am amazed at how much Granger is actually able to accomplish. I doubt that anything about the new posting will be as easy as they think; if it was then Granger would not get any new adventures...
