A command, even if temporary, would be grand for Granger... He so deserves this. I hope their ploy works. Chilton just came to realize one of the hardest things anyone ever has to go through, you can love someone but it doesn't mean they will love you back in the same way...

It is just amazing to me that a Captain would go up against a popular Admiral like that even on his own ship. It would be a blow to him to have the Admiral move his flag to another ship or remove his as Captain. Damn, doesn't Granger just meet up with the most interesting people....

This was in many ways a really sad chapter. Shafte will probably not ever really recover from this ordeal. It will taint his service and weigh on his mind for some time to come. Granger has to realize the issues he faces with this as well.
-
This may either help Granger and his reputation or it will tarnish it and he will have to overcome the situation. It probably depends on how it plays out. I have to wonder if the attitude of the others on the ship's staff will improve or will there be further issues???
-
So, Granger is going to be a father. This will make for an interesting side story at some point. I have to admit I like the fact he is married, in that day and age, you basically had to be if you were in his position to help push the family forward.

Well, I have to wonder what Blackwell's connection to Author is? It is obvious that there is something else going on just beneath the surface but unsure what it is... I am in awe of how well Granger just adapts to the situation. He just goes with the flow and knows just what to do and say...
-
Damn, what is the odds that Granger would end up in the same room on the same ship as Robey. I do have to wonder what the full story was with Travers and Robey. I do so appreciate how well Mark handles blending history with his story. It is just masterful.

Granger has all the right instincts. This will serve him well in the future. He really is too junior to have kept command. I do hope that he stays with Hood a while and gets some more seasoning...
-
Well, this will take a fine touch and a careful probative manner to get to the truth with those involved. I have to wonder what all Granger will have to do to get this resolved.
-
Well, there maybe hell to pay for saving the American ship but no good deed should be passed up. It will make the Americans happy and maybe help something on that front down the line...
-
Travers is back even if just for a little while, I just love him... I loved how Granger explained the situation with Caroline to Travers, it was just classic...
-
Well, Well, Well, I guess that Caroline does see George as her future. This will make for an interesting match. I hope that they end up meshing together considering how George feels about men...

Sad that we lost Balwin before he and Granger had a chance to see what might have happened; it is a reminder of how fleeting life could be in the Navy back then. The dangers were truly everywhere. I was happy to see Fellowes check on Granger before he left and let him know what was going on before he was removed.

Well, I can't wait to see what happens with Brad's date?! I am not sure what direction that is going to take. I do have to wonder who the assistant's boyfriend is? It makes it sound like maybe Brad will know him? I wonder what David has been doing? I wonder what has been happening at the Dallas and Claremont plants that makes Jordan think Brad will be really suprised? I wonder what will come of that... I do find it funny that Will is okay telling others who they can sleep with but he would torch the car of anyone that dared tell him that. I have to wonder if Josh will call him and how Tony would take that... Tony is going to have a few issues with coming out and coming to term with himself, I have to wonder how much Will can help him or if some of his actions will impede Tony in this process...

Chapter 73: Homecoming
centexhairysub commented on Mark Arbour's story chapter in Chapter 73: Homecoming
WOW, unbelieveably good chapter here. I really enjoyed everything about this one. I am glad that Granger got to say goodbye to Calvert, maybe for the last time, hint hint... I am not suprised that Granger figured out what the issue is, and I am sure even if Caroline doesn't fill him in fully, he will figure out who the other person is. A couple of wonderful honors for George. This will only add to the influence that both he and Caroline have been building and working to attain. This on top of the honors for the Earl means that the family is truly nearing an apex of influence for one of their level. This along with Granger raising a member of the Royal family bloodline as his own will make him almost untouchable by most. George truly love Caroline and it shows... I hope this story has at least a few more chapters to come but I appreciate each and everyone one we get to savour... -
I can't say that I see Will and Tony being really together at this point in their life. I can see them being hook up partners and playing around but no matter what Will thinks, neither of them is ready for the forever after person showing up in their life. I do think in several ways that Will is already more mature and more self-sufficient than Tony may ever be; I have to wonder if this won't eventually cause more issues than they can deal with. I think it will be interesting to see the business side of not only Triton but other companies that Brad and Stef and the family are involved in following this tragedy. I agree with Mark that as Chairman of the Board, Brad only has limited executive powers but being along with Stef; the majority stockholder in a privately held company gives him more power than a normal Chairman. Brad, with Stef's support, could basically oust the board and Jordan and anyone else. Few board chairman can say the same thing; this would give him more clout and make those with executive power more likely to fall in line. This actually wasn't that unusual of a reaction right after 9/11. There were those that took this tragedy as a way to strike back at those they had an issue with and used it as an excuse. I know a couple of people that lost security clearance because of being gay; most of them ended up getting it back but it was a unenjoyable pain in the posterior.

So happy that George is on his way home to his family and friends, I guess it was just fate, ha ha, that brought him into contact with the Santa Clarita before it was sailing to the West Indies... Well, at least George can see Calvert and Gatling and get that all straightened out before he heads off to London and home. He will be able to find out what is going on so there should be no huge suprises awaiting him upon his arrival. This was fortunate in one respect, Donegal could ship off with Calvert and thus avoid whatever it is that is he trying to hide from in England. Not sure that it will do for Granger to arrive without a servant but oh well, what can you do... I do hope that Granger and Eastwyck come to some arrangement. I find that this union, although perhaps temporary is very satisfying. I hope Granger gets to spend some time at home with his family and friends before he is shipped off again to infuriate the French.

I had a friend for years that was very much like Austin. He was so completely straight it hurt but he was so open and touchy that it was often mistaken for something it wasn't. He always had a way of making me and so many others feel happy and secure in ourselves. Lark/Scott was always someone that had a certain connection with Brad that few if anyone but Robbie ever matched. I think that Brad is right though, it is really too soon for Brad to get involved with anyone. What Scott did with the covers shows that even though he maybe morally challenged, he understands and cares about Brad...

A chapter full of healing and connecting in so many different ways. I have to say I am not sure that Will and Tony should be near each other right now. The connection they have could make it harder for each of them to move forward with the changes in each others life. Brad needs his family and friends right now much more than sex. That does not mean that Cody or someone close could not be there for him sexually but I can't see anyone new being able to make a connection right now...

Okay, I hate to say it but I really kept thinking Matt was going to f%^k Jeff while he had him in the headlock. I has thought that something like this was part of the issue but wasn't sure. I have to wonder who Jeff's parents are going to turn out to be...
-
I am so glad that Will has made a real effort with Robbie and JJ both. JJ is going to need everyone in his life to be there for him when this comes out or when he starts having to deal with it...
-
I was sort of afraid this is what was coming. We have been given breadcrumbs that were leading in this direction. I am not sure how JJ is going to handle any of this coming out, not even just to the family...
-
Okay, they slept together... Wade has to get over his obsession with Brad. I can't say that I even really understand it...
-
I thought Will handled the situation with Brad and Wade better than most people twice his age. I was really amazed at how calm he stayed. I really can't tell where the deal with Noah is going...
-
I think I would rather face a great white shark in a small tank with blood in the water than piss Stef off like Robbie has...
