Dumb kid with too much money gets in trouble. This is not a new story. In fact it's an very old, boring story that's entirely predictable.

I dislike the classless bums of Seattle. Sherman's taunting of Crabtree in the title game and subsequent oral diarrhea in front of the press was one of the most disgraceful episodes since Michael Irving's profanity laced tirade in Super Bowl XXX. I would very much like to see Denver hand the Sea Hags their smart asses.

“I am that gadfly which God has attached to the state, and all day long …arousing and persuading and reproaching…”- Plato, Apology I will sting you in your complacency, bite you in your weak arguments and bloody your false or disingenuous logic. The point is not to make a jackass of yourself which is what the vast majority of internet trolls do. The idea is to make you think. Force you to look in another direction. See the problem from another perspective.

They are so fast in the middle. Their linebackers and safeties are the fastest group I've seen in a while and their corners are absolutely unreal. They could use some charm school- I don't care for the sort of taunting that we saw at the end of the NFC title game. The playoffs, and especially the title games are the most important games of the year. It's a time to show your class and not your ass.

I don't do soap operas. I'm more into Grand Opera. The higher the stakes, the bigger the dramatic payoff.

The spring anthology theme is NATURE"S WRATH so I toss out some food for thought. I was in the area effected by Katrina and went for weeks without power. That was a rude awakening and I'm much better prepared now. While I'm prepared for the types of disasters that we can reasonably expect in my area, you just can't be ready for EVERYTHING that might happen. Powerful earthquakes can happen in areas where they are completely unexpected (New Madrid Earthquake of 1811). A volcano can pop out of a corn field and do its worst (Parícutin, Mexico 1943). A comet can blow up over you and completely trash a huge region(Tunguska, Siberia 1908). All of these disasters can (and have) happened OUT OF THE BLUE and there's no real way you can be prepared other than have a bug-out bag, a general plan to evacuate, a list of people to call and a rally point. How would you like this to pop up in your back yard? It grew up in a cornfield near the small Mexican village of Parícutin in 1943. The volcano is now dormant and unlikely to erupt again (monogenetic) but you can bet it was exciting there for a while. Disaster offers a great canvas for drama! Run for your life!

Case:Black is an experimental work in progress. As I have been working on it, it has sort of evolved completely on it's own a 24-esque format. I didn't intend it to happen that way. It came from the short scenes built onto a tight timeline. I would really like to go back and re-format the whole thing but GA's author/story page... ummm I'm not sure how I would go about it. I have decided- why fight it? The ticking clock/24-esqe format is a natural fit for the story. From now on, I am going to run with it. I don't think Kiefer Sutherland patented it and... I think he would be good as Doctor Jackson or Sgt. Taylor. From now on, each chapter will contain multiple scenes from a single hour. The following events occur between 1am and 2am on July 17th... PS- computer problems have been corrected.

My hard drive is dying. It says so. It is a new generation drive from Seagate that uses SMART(ass) technology to warn me that a crash is inevitable. So far too many sectors are going bad. It's only a matter of time before the drive says ERK and dies horribly. As soon as this happened I went into uber-geek mode and begin doing stuff like backing up and preparing for the installation of the new drive. It is of course a huge pain in the ass. Why does my SMART(ass) technology only last two f-ing years? That's not very SMART if you ask me. I'm treading very carefully and waiting impatiently as my SMARTass mail order parts provider takes 2 god damned weeks to deliver a simple 1 TB hard drive. It's times like this that make me miss drinking. At some point soon I will vanish for a while. You can be sure that I'm rebuilding my system and will be back. As grouchy as ever. GRRRR

I don't like to address this because it's a lot like discussing religion. People have a great deal of faith in a science that is at best-- incomplete. Is global warming happening? Maybe, I don't think so. I'm not seeing the indicators. Is climate change happening. Yes. It has been happening for billions of years. There are cycles at work that are older than the human race. Human eyes have never seen some of the biggest climate change agents: asteroid and comet impacts, the out gassing of a super-volcano. If we were to see them, it might be the last thing we ever research. What appalls me about this debate is the arrogance on both sides of it. AGW advocates like to think it's proven, done deal and nothing could be further from the truth. We are just beginning to learn how our atmosphere really works, how it acts at different altitudes and how solar plasma and the ionosphere interact. These are all rather BIG DEALS and the AGW model completely ignores. The AGW model is based completely on atmospheric chemistry and ignores way too many variables that are beginning to look much more significant. Anti-AGW people bother me as well. It's easy enough to look at a little data and say that's rubbish. However- when you look at the long term data, there is some interesting stuff there. It's one thing to dismiss a scientific theory because it is unsound. It is quite another to dismiss a theory because it is politically unpopular and economically inconvenient. The Sane Approach is to continue to do research. Not pro-AWG or con-AWG research. How about plain vanilla, non-sexy basic atmospheric and near-space research that is say... PRO-TRUTH? The basic truths are there one way or another. Humanity needs energy. We need a clean environment. Polluting air, land or sea is just plain stupid. We need to continue to look for scientific answers to clean air, water and energy. We need to get past the arrogance and realize that we still have a lot to learn.

If I wasn't a geezer we would be married already.
