  1. I have a couple that I really like.. The Pilgrimage by Paulo Coelho - I think I was intrigued by the mysticism and philosophy in this book Veronika Decides to Die by Paulo Coelho - I just really liked the story and the concept that sanity is just collective madness There was a time during my sophomore year in high school that our class practically Paulo Coelho books and these were the ones that stuck with me. Tuesdays with Morrie by Mitch Albom Have a Little Faith by Mitch Albom Both non-fiction books involve the author talking his mentors (Morrie was his teacher and Albert was his rabbi) which deal with life, death, and the stuff in between. The second book also deals with faith (as you should have guessed based on the title) and it made me think of how different religions ultimately sort of have the same the same message. The Pearl by John Steinbeck - One of only two books I've been required to read and liked (The Little Prince is the other). I have this tendency to hate a book simply because it was assigned, even though it might be really good so that in itself is quite something. Capt. Jack West Jr. series by Matthew Reilly - This is sort of the odd one out in the group here. I've never really been a big fan adventure stories but I grabbed Six Sacred Stones in Chapters and read a couple of pages. I enjoyed how it is sort of like Robert Langdon and Rambo were combined into one.
  2. Just like Steve said, Montreal absolutely clobbered Washington today. Or at least in the score sheet since they out shot the Canadiens 54 to 21.
  3. Thank you for the birthday greetings!
  4. Flyers over Devils was a real shocker to me, in 5 games no less. I really thought that Broduer would play better than he did. Boucher played well and I guess Philly had some momentum going after just squeaking into the playoffs. Phoenix winning today to stave of elimination was surprising to me, and I think they have a good chance of beating Detroit at home in game 7. I don't really know what to say about the Sens. They led 3-0 in that last game and they still managed to lose. I won't be complaining though since I had Pittsburgh winning that series. I don't anybody gave Colorado much of a chance against San Jose. Colorado played better than I expected them to play but San Jose managed to pull it together. I expect the Sharks to choke next round though unless the Preds manage to beat Chicago, which I doubt will happen/ I hope not. I haven't really paid much attention to the Buffalo-Boston series aside from keeping up on who wins the games and wishing the Ryan Miller plays god-like the next two games. Steve, not really sure what you are talking about with the Caps-Habs series but there was no game today. Montreal beat Washington in last game but it was the first one since game 1. Now if they do manage to spank Washington tomorrow then that is either good prediction or you are a psychic who I need to start consulting about lotto numbers. Lastly, GO CANUCKS GO!!! :2thumbs: Awesome present from the Canucks!
  5. Okay this could be interesting. I used to do 500 crunches a day for the fun of it in grade 6 up to grade 8. It got me some decent abs like the one you got going now, Gabe. It's time to try to reach that again. I might even try running a couple of miles every other day to get rid of some fat and start working on my lower abs. This will also stop people from nagging about me not using the home gym in the basement, which is a plus! Losing Sprite will be a challenge for me. I've sort of gotten the habit of drinking one of those small bottles a day but I will try to stop. Maybe I can drink more juice or something. I just need to find a suitable replacement because I never really liked just drinking plain water edit: I'm going to postpone my support to this until next weekend since I just had quite an unhealthy dinner and I'm go party after my last final this week.
  6. If I am surfing through channels and happen to catch it on, I still watch Pokemon and Yu Gi Oh (just the ones with Yugi though). They were actually rereleasing the old Dragonball but it was still in Japanese so had to read subs to watch it.
  7. I still have the original Motorola Razr from 4-5 yrs ago. Ancient!! Never really had the need for iphones or smart phones since I just use a cell to call and text.
  8. blog in nytimes about this story It's a blog but since it is in the nytimes website, there is probably some bit of credibility to it. It offers some additional details. It says Harold Scull fell and was hospitalized in April 2008 and died a few months later in August. It also mentions that Mr. Greene had some mental health issues which the county used as the reason for his placement in a nursing home. Here's a link from the NCLR website which shows you a 78 page pdf of the complaint.
  9. Happy Birthday!!!
  10. Canucks won today!!! :2thumbs: So did Buffalo. Too bad Washington losing prevented a 3/3 night.
  11. Happy Birthday Gabe!!!
  12. CHESS!!! I love chess. Some people say it is not a sport because it isn't physical but I think it is a sport for the mind. I used to play in bowling leagues too.
  13. I can't believe all my teams lost today!! Looks like I might have to follow this carefully and see if I need to cheat.
  14. I tried to play quite a few sports growing up like basketball, soccer, volleyball, golf, swimming, tennis, badminton, and track. Badminton has been my main sport for the last 4-5 years. Nice fast paced game.
  15. The hamster in my avatar is sooo cute!!!
  16. Pork liver can be found in several Filipino cuisine like menudo (not sure if it is similar to the Mexican menudo) and dinuguan, which when translated is pork blood stew. Yum, right? So yes I'd eat it. You usually don't even notice it in the food.
  17. Absolutely!!! Kidding... maybe...
  18. Round One: San Jose, Chicago, Vancouver, Detroit Washington, New Jersey, Buffalo, Pittsburgh Round Two: Vancouver, Detroit New Jersey, Pittsburgh Finals: Vancouver, New Jersey Champion: Vancouver I guess my West predictions are the same as Tarin's.
  19. I barely bookmark at all. I have eight total right now. Two are for how to get six pack abs, which I will never get, one poem (The More Loving One by W.H. Auden), one online course for school, and the rest are for stories (awesomedude, deweywriter, crvboy, and the mustard jar).
  20. Easter Conference Washington Capitals (1) vs. Montreal Canadiens (8) New Jersey Devils (2) vs. Philadelphia Flyers (7) Buffalo Sabers (3) vs. Boston Bruins (6) Pittsburgh Penguins (4) vs. Ottawa Senators (5) Western Conference San Jose Sharks (1) vs. Colorado Avalanche (8) Chicago Blackhawks (2) vs. Nashville Predators (7) Vancouver Canucks (3) vs. Los Angeles Kings (6) Phoenix Coyotes (4) vs. Detroit Red Wings (5) When is the last day to submit your predictions/guesses?
  21. Now if you are going to tell them to STFU might as well be nice about and say "please STFU, thanks!" In all seriousness though, I don't think anyone can argue against the issues you presented being bigger issues compared to the girls prom. However, can't you also make the argument that since it isn't that big of an issue, then the school should just let her go to the damn prom? Now I know that they may be way up in the boondocks but somebody there must have a brain (a heart is still debatable) and realize that. Also, does her 'taking one for the team' really help that much with the other issues? The girl dropping the case won't necessarily lead to the media focusing more on the repeal of Don't Ask Don't Tell or the Employment Non-Discrimination Act. They'd probably just have more guys devoted to following Tiger Woods or Jesse James hoopla. Side note: Didn't they already go to some alternative prom type of thing? Why is this issue back in the news?
  22. April! I'm a stereotypical Taurus. Now if only my birthday wasn't smack in the middle of my finals, I could party like a wannabe rockstar!!
  23. I really want to contest this statement but I can't. I can only hope that the Canucks do better this year. If they win it this year it would truly be wonderful year especially after the Olympics.
  24. I agree with the Bubble Butts but not with the team. lol Canucks will win this year!!
