Like a Train Wreck - 59. Chapter 59: Like a Train Wreck
"So, this is it." Miracle stood in the yard, looking at his silver diamond covered Mercedes Benz SL600.
Craig's eyes widened. "Miracle, that is going to get stole right out of our drive way."
"Not if I keep it in the garage. Right under my finished bed room." He tried to smile but he couldn't stop thinking about Issac. "Aren't there any leads yet? Daddy...I miss him, I want him back."
Craig sighed and wrapped his arms around Miracle. "Everyone is working as hard as they can. We have it all over television, search parties, planes. All of our resources are being used." He frowned, feeling like a failure.
Miracle pulled away and sighed, not wanting to let himself get to upset. "I have to go to that job and...I don't even feel like doing anything. I just want to crawl into bed and never come out until he's back."
"Miracle." He grasped both of his shoulders. "You have to be strong...and work is a good distraction. It'll be something new.."
"Yeah, until I ruin it and break down in front of a customer." He looked away and shook his head.
"Maybe you'll sell a car that way?" Craig teased, a small grin appearing, hoping to cheer Miracle up.
Miracle laughed briefly and then nodded. "I sell on my sympathy." He looked down and swung the keys around his index finger.
"Well, go, have fun driving that car." Craig smiled and patted Miracle on the back. "And when you get home, we can celebrate property brothers being gone!"
Miracle laughed. "Hey, want you to know something I told Jaemin."
Craig stopped and looked at Miracle.
"I told him that if we had another drive by, property brothers would get killed." Miracle grinned. "Morbid joke, I don't mean it."
Craig laughed. "Go to work!" He walked inside the house.
October 2009
Miracle walked into their new bedroom and looked at Jaemin. "Mom just left, shes dropping Dayna off at the airport."
Jaemin sat up on the bed. "I really feel sorry for her."
"She didn't want to leave but...the longer time goes on, they say the chances of finding a missing person." Miracle frowned. "We found Faye though."
"Yeah, family is different though. Sad thing is that her Dad will probably gloat." Jaemin laid back and sighed. "I like the new room, though."
Miracle walked over to the bed and laid down beside Jaemin. "Me too. Kind of feels like having our own place in a way...it's so spacious."
"Would you ever want us to have our own place?" Jaemin asked.
Miracle thought about it. "Maybe...sometime later. After we save our money, I don't want to be the type that ends up on low income and food stamps."
Jaemin grinned. "What we get for a horrible economy and failing to think of our future."
Miracle laughed. "I guess our last grade over all of our school time is one big fat F."
"Sterling told me that you used to laugh at your bad grades."
Miracle nodded. "Yeah, I did. I always just thought they were funny and..I never knew why. It was like, seeing one, pushed my laugh button. I still don't know why, I never brought it up in any of my therapy."
Jaemin laughed. "You should of, they could of helped you figure it out."
"They would probably say something like...it helps reinforce my negative self view or something." Miracle's smile faded. "Kind of makes sense, I never thought I would be good at anything."
"How's the job going?" Jaemin asked.
"Mostly people just tell me to bug off, they want to browse alone. So I just walk around the lot." Miracle shrugged. "At least I get the money..."
Jaemin frowned. "I'm sorry."
"It's nothing to be sad about."
"Yeah, but you pushed for the job. He offered you a free car and you pushed for a job, you wanted it."
Miracle stared up at the ceiling. "Well, I just have to stick it out until I get a better position."
"Has anyone said anything about your psychic interview?" Jaemin asked, suddenly remembering it. "People who go there have to recognize your voice."
"A few people asked, I just tell them the truth. They'll say things like..shame on you, or..you need to grow up. Then some tell me that I learned from my mistake and that I obviously cared about the mans job." Miracle looked around.
"It will blow over, I'm telling you, that kind of stuff, people forget about it." Jaemin shifted onto his side and wrapped an arm around Miracle.
"Well, it only happened a few times, so it's not to big of a deal. I don't guess." Miracle sat up. "Something is just not right here..."
Jaemin quickly sat up. "What do you mean?"
"Issac being gone." Miracle looked at Jaemin. "When I first saw Sterling, when I first came back, I accused Ashley of working for Eric and getting him brainwashed. Sterling swears that Eric can't do that or he would of done it to me at the party."
"Well then Sterling is a dumb fuck." Jaemin shook his head. "It takes time to brainwash someone. You don't just zap them. Kyler was gone, vanished, for the longest time."
"True, but Sterling was never missing. So how could he have gotten brainwashed?" Miracle asked.
"It could happen, nightly hypnosis, capture, nightly sessions with no remembrance of the actual sessions, he just slowly thinks that his mind was changing, all the while Ashley spends the days with him...and it all just flows." Jaemin looked up. "Didn't Skylar say something about hypnosis? I could swear she said something about hypnosis but I can't remember what she said."
Miracle stared at the foot of the bed, thinking. "I know what you're saying, I could swear remembering Skylar saying something, but I can't for the life of me, remember what it was."
"So, what does this have to do with Issac?" Jaemin asked.
"Wouldn't it be the perfect place to keep him? Totally unsuspecting, to use Sterling?" Miracle looked at him.
"Brainwashed or not, I don't think Sterling would just let that happen. If anything was done to him, it wasn't to make him a bad guy, it was to get at you."
"Unless he had army duties and he's away from home." Miracle looked up.
"But...why would Ashley help? They slaughtered her family."
"And it's like Ashley said...she inherited everything." Miracle's eyebrows lifted. "Religious family or not, Robin changed, whose to say Ashley ever followed to begin with?"
"Well, I don't think they can even get a warrant without reasonable...reason." Jaemin scratched his head. "Theories don't fly..."
"What if Robin's baby never actually died..."
Jaemin looked up and he couldn't help but to laugh. "Don't even go up that road. If they some how got that baby off the stage and put it in Ashley, she'd of gave birth to it by now. Besides, I think both bodies were retrieved..."
Miracle looked at Jaemin. "Sorry, my ideas just fly when I think."
"You'd make a good soap writer." Jaemin fell back into the bed, the water mattress dancing beneath them.
"I just wish that we could remember what Skylar said." He looked at Jaemin. "The girl left us a load of information, more than I think we even realized at the time.." Miracle looked down. "I haven't even really thought about the fact that she was my sister."
Miracle then gasped. "Oh my god...I remember."
Jaemin sat up. "What?"
"And in fact...it relates more than you know." Miracle said.
"So...spill." Jaemin said.
"Skylar was talking about hypnotism as a sexual technique, making a girl believe she is a guy, if her boyfriend could hypnotize her." Miracle looked at Jaemin. "Sterling could of slept with Ashley, under the hypnosis, thinking she was a guy. And it's like Issac said, blind fold him, tie his hands up, nothing to conflict with the state of mind he's been placed in. That's how you get him there and that's how it's done." Miracle's eyes widened.
"So then...he finds out he has a baby, either isn't angry or suppresses it, for the sake of his child. He feels trapped..."
"And my pregnant woman theory." Miracle looked at Jaemin. "He has to do what she says if he wants his child."
"So you think she out right threatened to kill the child?" Jaemin asked.
"Likely not..but she could of threatened to disappear. I don't care who you're attracted to, I can't say from experience but...I just know that people say that when you have a kid, there's this bond that forms." Miracle shook his head.
"And you of all people believe that?" Jaemin questioned.
"I'm just saying what I've heard, and some people do that. Sterling would do anything to make sure that his child was safe." Miracle stood up and walked around the room. "Now, we just need to know if Issac is there."
"Sadly, he was our hacker." Jaemin frowned. "If he were here and it were someone else, at least he could get into any cameras they have, any that are on an online device."
Miracle looked at Jaemin and frowned. "Well, if he is there, we can give him a fighting chance." Miracle grabbed his phone. "Could you go down to...the other room and get Ashley's address off of his computer?"
Ashley walked down the stairs and grinned at Issac as she sat the plate of lunch on the table, it was a ham sand which and some french fries with ketchup. She then laid the can of mountain dew beside it. "Wakey up..." She grinned.
Issac's eyes opened, finding that he had been gagged again. He breathed heavily, not bothering to try and talk. He pushed himself to sit up and stared at Ashley.
"Did you manage to drink your tea? I know you couldn't pick it up...but if dogs can do it." Ashley laughed and walked over to pick up the cup, seeing that only half the tea was gone. "Guess you can only dip your face so far in." She sat the glass on the table.
Issac closed his eyes and looked away.
"I brought you some lunch. You know that dog food is a joke, right? Though if you got the snacks...I guess you might of munched on it." Ashley laughed and grabbed a belt and a pad lock. "I'll have to tie your neck to the pole if you want your hands free, you know how it goes."
It was then that there was several loud knocks on the door. Ashley looked up the stairs and her eyes narrowed and then she pointed at Issac. "You don't make a sound." She walked over and turned an old radio on and turned the volume up and walked up the stairs, shutting the door and locking it.
Issac looked up in hope when he heard the loud knocks, then he watched her turn the radio on and head up the stairs. Tears streamed down his face and he leaned forward, trying to hear what he could.
Ashley opened the door and saw two police officers and smiled in surprise. "Oh, hi. What can I do for you?"
One of the officers smiled. "We got a call from a concerned friend, said they haven't been able to get an answer on the phone."
Issac then took a deep breath and started screaming at the top of his lungs but the gag and the radio was to much.
"And my friend called the cops for that?" Ashley laughed. "So dramatic. I was just vacuuming! I'll check my phone. Thanks!" Ashley then slammed the door in the officers faces and walked to the window and looked out, seeing them heading for their cars.
"Nice fucking try." Ashley grabbed her phone and scrolled through the contacts and pressed on Rachel's name.
Rachel grabbed her phone and answered, muting her television. "Ashley, how are things going?"
"They know Issac's here...or at least they suspect it. They sent the cops to my door, pretended to be a concerned friend who couldn't reach me on the phone. He was gagged, thankfully, and I turned the radio on...but Eric is going to have to move him."
"Probably hoped the cops would hear something." Rachel sighed. "I'll let Eric know, for now just take all safety precautions, don't try to handle him or relocate him on your own."
"Okay." Ashley nodded and hung up and then she walked back down the stairs and turned the radio off. "Sorry Issac, the help is gone." She tossed her phone on the table. "Now, I have to get you ready for lunch."
Miracle walked around the dealership lot, following a man and his wife as they browsed the cars. "So uh...buying a car here would be a really good deal."
The man looked at Miracle. "That's what they all say."
"But the owner is a really good man, the best. I mean it's not just about the business, he really cares." Miracle said.
"Uh...we don't care if the owner cares, we just want a car." The man shook his head, walking along with his wife.
"Okay, what are you looking for? Like your needs and...your wants?" Miracle followed after them.
"I think we can find them on our own!" The woman burst out.
Miracle's eyes widened.
"Honey, calm down, those mood swings." The man looked at Miracle. "Go help someone else." The couple walked away.
Miracle frowned and looked off, watching the traffic in the street. "Bitch." He turned around and walked off and made his way inside the building.
"Hi, Larry." Miracle sat down in one of the chairs.
Larry grinned and looked at Miracle. "What am I going to rob next, psychic?" He stood up and walked away.
"Screw you too." Miracle mumbled and crossed his arms.
"What's wrong?" Stephen walked out and looked at Miracle.
"No one needs any help, they know what they want." He looked up at Stephen. "You waste money on me."
"I said I wouldn't fire you." Stephen sat beside him.
"So this is all a sympathy job?" Miracle sighed. "I'm sorry, I appreciate it...I just, I'm supposed to know how to really get a job, without my sob story."
"I didn't give it to you because of that. It made me feel bad about what I did to you...but I wanted the chance to get to know who you really were, correct my misjudgment. And you're a good kid."
Miracle took a deep breath. "And you made up this pointless job for me because I don't qualify for anything else here."
Stephen frowned. "I'm really sorry that you feel that way."
"I should just make money doing what I'm good at, the only thing I'm worth for.." Miracle started to cry but he tried to keep himself calm. "I guess I deserve it, I was to stupid to get my act together."
Stephen shook his head. "No." He said in a firm tone. "You don't ever make money that way and you are worth so much more. You can be worth as much as you want to be, that is in your control."
"Now you sound like my grade school teachers." Miracle grinned. "Dream big."
"Well, just go out and try again." Stephen smiled. "For me, if not for yourself?"
"Fine." Miracle stood up and laughed, shaking his head as he walked back outside and looked around for any potential new customers.
"Hi there." A man in a nice suit walked up and smiled at Miracle. "I noticed your shirt, so you work here?"
Miracle looked over at the man and then grinned. "Yeah, that I do." He reached up and wiped at his face. "And if you recognize my voice, I am sorry my joke was seen as serious fraud, I'm childish, condemn me for my sin!" Miracle said, dramatically.
The hint of a grin appeared. "You look like you've been crying."
"Well, when people don't need my help around here..." Miracle shook his head. "Never mind." He turned and smiled at the man. "Customer! What can I do for you?!"
"Well, I wanted to test drive that black jaguar over there." The man pointed at the row of cars by the road. "And since you don't seem to be needed, I specifically request that you accompany me." He smiled. "How about it?"
Miracle smiled and then looked around. "Well, I'm not supposed to do test drives...so I'll have to ask. Wait here." Miracle said, walking back inside the building.
"Take your time." The man grinned.
Miracle walked through the room and over to Stephen's office, knocking on the open door. "Uh..Stephen? There's a man outside that wants to test drive the black jaguar out by the road and he specifically wants me to accompany him."
Stephen looked up and then he grabbed the key for the right car. He twisted the key in his hand as he thought over this very carefully. "Okay, I'm going to let you try. There is a time limit of twenty minutes tops, if that time surpasses, we assume the car, and..well you, have been taken and we notify police. Safety measures, do not try to call the police on your own or fight, only take the safest opportunity. Otherwise ensure that the car is returned safe and sound. Should you get kicked out of the car and they just steal the car, most common case scenario, call the police immediately."
Miracle slowly nodded. "You know how to paint a picture. I got it...I can do it."
Stephen handed the key over.
Miracle took the key and turned around and headed back outside. "Sorry, that took a minute. I had to get the run down on all the rules." He looked up at the man and grinned. "The word rules...usually makes me think of how I like breaking them. Have to follow them here, though!" He waved the man on and walked towards the car.
"You like breaking rules?" The man grinned as he walked over to the car, looking it over.
"I'm just that kid, breaks them and looks at you like an innocent." He smiled and handed over the key. "You drive, twenty minutes." Miracle walked to the passenger side and when the door was unlocked, he climbed inside the car.
"Okay, thanks for the lunch. I have to get back to the office." Craig walked into the kitchen, putting his plate in the sink and he kissed Erica's cheek.
Jaemin came running down the stairs. "Oh, hey! Can you drop me off at the library? I think I need a car too."
Craig grinned. "Right, come on, I'll drop you off."
Erica watched as Craig and Jaemin left and then she sighed and threw the dish rag across the double sinks. Her hand ran through her hair and she looked around. "Full house just became empty house." She walked into the living room. "This is lonely."
Erica's phone rang and she sat on the couch and dug it out of her purse. Her eyebrows lifted and she answered. "Jeremy? This...is the first time that you've called me."
"I took a chance, I take it you're alone? You said my name." Jeremy said.
"Uh..yeah, everyone is gone. So what is the special occasion?"
"I thought we would spend some time together, if you wanted." Jeremy suggested.
"Isn't that risky? What if you're spotted?" Erica asked.
"I'm in a taxi, switched several times, had this one ordered in a back alley, went out the back exit of a store." Jeremy looked at the cab driver.
"Okay, how far away are you?" Erica asked.
"Pulling up now." Jeremy said.
Erica looked out the window and saw the taxi pull up. "Okay, I'm coming." She hung up and tossed her phone at her purse, it missed and landed on the couch, she didn't notice as she got up, pulling her purse with her and stepped out the door.
Erica headed down the walk way and stepped down and opened the driver side back door and got into the taxi. She shook her head and ran her hands through her hair. "So I still don't get it. What is this about? And...where are we going?" Her eyes widened at him.
Jeremy caught the look. "Oh, we'll have privacy. We're going out to the tracks."
"The tracks." Erica grinned. "So really, what is the occasion?"
"I can only stay in the distance for so long, Erica. It bothers me...and I can't approach Miracle, so.."
Erica nodded. "Nothing to do with the past?"
A half smile appeared. "What's there to say about it? I hold the memories close."
Erica slowly nodded. "Me too." She looked down. "I remember the last time we celebrated his birthday together, his fifth birthday..."
Jeremy reached out and took Erica's hand. "I miss it too."
She looked at him and then squeezed his hand. "Half as much as I do? It's like a bittersweet pain...Something that makes you want to smile and cry at the same time."
When Jeremy stayed quiet, she looked over at him. "Issac is still..." She looked at the driver. "He's still..uh, gone." She said.
Jeremy slowly nodded. "If only we had..." He looked at the driver. "Well..if we found him, he could have the key...to my lock box."
Erica started to grin briefly at the code talk. "Really need to get into that lock box."
Miracle looked around as the man drove, having went out to a more desolate area, he assumed it was so the man could really test out the car.
The man began to slow down and pulled over along side the road.
"What are you doing? Are we going back?" He looked at the clock above the radio. "Oh, yeah, we better. It's ten minutes over...I need to call..." Miracle pulled out his cell phone. "Don't want them to freak."
The man reached into his coat pocket and pulled out a gun and aimed it at Miracle. "Turn the phone off."
Miracle looked up and then suddenly saw the gun. His eyes widened. "Woah! You don't want to do that..." He dropped his phone in his lap and held his hands up. "You can have the car, take it and go."
"Unfortunately, I'm not here for the car." The man said, reaching into his other coat pocket and pulled out a pair of handcuffs and tossed them at Miracle. "Turn your phone off and cuff your wrist to the mirror." He nodded towards the rearview mirror.
Miracle stared at him. "Wait...I know you." His eyes widened. "You were that guy...from Damien's apartment."
Rick grinned. "Nice to be recognized, wondered how bad your memory was."
Miracle slowly shook his head. "You really don't want to do this. Just let me go."
"I want to be nice about this. Honestly, I think it is cruel, you're innocent...and I really don't want to get mean." Rick nodded.
Miracle shook nervously and then looked down and grabbed his phone, pushing the button to shut the phone off. He then took the handcuffs and locked one around his wrist and then the other cuff was locked around the small part of the rearview mirror. He lightly tugged on it and then looked away.
Rick pulled onto the road again and started driving. "We have much to do today."
Miracle looked at him. "Like what?"
"You'll see." Rick sighed. "Trust me, I wouldn't take you if the plan was to really hurt you, so long as you comply and go along, you're fine." He grinned. "Be that good actor that you are."
Miracle looked away. "You think you can win, no one has been able to destroy Eric, you think you can, they think they can. He has his ways."
"Unfortunately, that is your only threat. If he doesn't fall in line..." Rick shook his head.
Miracle looked down. "If you kill me...if it happens in front of him." He closed his eyes and grinned. "That'd be the sweetest revenge." He sat back and opened his eyes. "If I had to die." Tears ran down his face.
Rick lowered the gun to his lap but kept his hand on it.
"I never thought about it..." Miracle looked out of the window. "When it would be time to die, when your life...all of it flashes before you. What would mine mean?"
Rick frowned, guilt edging over his emotions. "Sit there and think about it." He said in a firm tone. "Quietly."
"Getting to you?" Miracle looked at him. "Good, I hope it does. You think about it, quietly."
Jack stood in the warehouse and looked at Miracle's old cell phone, scrolling through the contacts and he hit Eric's name and brought the phone up to his ear.
Eric sat on the couch in Skylar's old apartment, that, aside from the furniture, was empty. He had only been there for about an hour. He answered his cell phone. "Hello?"
Jack grinned. "Eric, pleasure to finally meet you."
"And you are?" Eric asked.
"Someone that you should take very seriously." Jack said.
Eric grinned and laughed. "Look, I'm laying low, tell me what you want or I'm hanging up."
"Hells Angels group leader...and we have Miracle. I want to meet, discuss what you're going to trade, we kinda want a lot of cash. You spent two years hunting this kid, I think he's worth a lot to you. Question is, would you rather his brains stay in his head?"
Eric paused in thought. "Name your price and I'll send someone."
"Oh no." Jack laughed. "Get up, you're not an old man, the air is nice. We want to meet with you."
Eric looked around and then checked his other phone, seeing a text from Rachel. "Okay, but lets get something straight, I want a happy Miracle...and if one of his friends dies, he won't be happy. So if you even think about trying anything, you don't get any cash."
Jack frowned. "So where do we meet? We're not going on your turf."
Eric grinned. "Why not take this home? I'd like to pick Miracle up at his house." He laughed.
Jack shook his head, containing his laughter. "And the people there?"
"Anyone that's there, you contain them as you have to. Oh and send me some proof, a picture, perhaps? You called this one, Angel." Eric grinned and hung up.
Rick pulled Miracle out of the car and yanked his arms behind his back, binding the cuffs as he lead Miracle across the tracks and down the small hill and into the warehouse. "Got him."
"Just in time." Jack looked at Miracle. "Put the gun to his head." Jack lifted the phone.
Rick's eyebrows lifted and he placed the gun to the side of Miracle's head.
Miracle glared at Jack and then shut his eyes tight when the gun was placed to his head.
Jack took the picture and then texted it to Eric. "We have a meeting spot, ironically, he wants to pick you up from home, Miracle."
Miracle's eyes opened as the gun was pulled away. "Wait, you're serious? You're really going to let him take me?"
"Just saying what he wants." Jack pocketed the phone. "We should get a move on."
"But wait." Miracle looked at Jack. "Philip told me what you said...about me. So..how could you?" He looked up at Jack. "You want to be just one more father to hurt me?"
Jack frowned, staring at Miracle and then he reached up and wiped a tear from Miracle's face, shoving his emotions down. "Lets go." He headed out of the warehouse.
Miracle sighed and then felt Rick pull him around and he stumbled along as they headed out of the warehouse and back to Rick's car.
The taxi pulled up several minutes after Jack and Rick drove away with Miracle. Jeremy grinned. "Remember how we used to watch the trains?"
"Yep, with a couple of beers, felt like a million years ago." Erica smiled and pushed the door open, getting out.
Jeremy paid the cab driver and got out, waving the cab on as it drove away. "So, is this private enough?"
"I would say so." Erica grabbed Jeremy's hand and walked over the rail road tracks and down the hill. There was an old table tossed out there and she sat on top of it.
Jeremy sat beside her and watched as the sun began to set. "We always came at this time of day too."
"Sunset to sunrise." Erica laughed. "And then we would go home, pour ourselves into bed and regret it by the time we woke.."
"Beach fires were a little better. I enjoyed those the most."
"Oh, of course! You could be all cozy by the fire and then just get random and run off into the ocean." She laughed.
"I remember when you had all of those glow sticks and you gave them to everyone and we all went into the water together...and then I came back and I watched, and it was such a cool effect." Jeremy took a deep breath.
"And then Rachel got so drunk and hers went out and she accused me of getting her a piece of crap and threw my cigarettes in the water." Erica grinned. "That was a crazy night."
"That night, I had my eyes on you..." Jeremy smiled and leaned his head against her shoulder. "I could love you again..."
Erica looked down. "Don't tempt me." She frowned and her hand ran over the top of his.
"It's hard...when I'm tempted myself." He looked down. "Maybe this sounds to much like a dreamer but..we're all together again. It could all...go together again."
Erica looked up. "We were all dreamers...How could we not be? With a life so perfect."
"And now...it's perfectly broken." Jeremy looked at the ground. "Two hearts...so close, so far away."
Jaemin walked out of the library and pulled out his phone, dialing Craig's number.
"Jaemin? Hold on, I'm on the other line, a representative could pick up at any time." Craig said.
"Huh? Where are you at? I'm off work." Jaemin said.
"The car broke down, I've tried to call Erica, no answer, Miracle's phone is off, for what reason, I don't know. Maybe it died, my phone is about to go dead. The car won't even turn on so I can't use the charger. Can you get a cab home?"
"No, I didn't bring any money with me." Jaemin sighed. "I guess I could walk it."
"Yeah, well I have to get to the other..."
"Craig? Hello? Craig?" Jaemin pulled the phone from his ear. "What horrid luck today." He selected Miracle's name and heard the phone go straight to voice mail.
"What the hell?" He then checked his GPS, only picking up Erica's phone at home. "Great..." He looked around and then his phone rang, seeing it was the dealership. "I could of called them, why didn't I think of that?" He then answered. "Hello?"
"Jaemin, it's Stephen. Miracle had you as his emergency contact. I've been trying to reach you."
"I was at work, library, phone off." He walked closer to the road. "Emergency? What are you talking about."
Stephen sighed in worry. "I put Miracle on his first test drive with a customer, I totally failed protocol, didn't get any information, he has been gone for hours."
Jaemin's eyes widened. "Oh no..." His teeth clenched. "How could you be such a dumb fuck?! You let people drive your cars away and you don't get their information?!" Jaemin shook his head. "Not that it would fix it!" He pulled the phone away and hung up and then took off down the street, heading home, not even knowing what he would do when he got there.
Eric's hired man opened the door to the house, holding a gun and he headed inside, aiming around the place, he then waved his hand.
Eric held onto Issac, his hands cuffed behind his back and the cuffs attached together by a padlock. He pushed Issac forward and stepped inside. "Hello? Any big bad Angel's here? You asked for Charlie!" He grinned.
"I hope they kill you." Issac glared.
"Up here!" Jack called out from the top of the stairs.
Eric nodded towards his hired man. The man walked ahead first as Eric and Issac followed him. He aimed up the stairs as Jack walked back into the bed room. He headed up the stairs and waved Eric to continue to follow.
The hired man then walked into the bed room, followed by Eric and Issac. Once they were all in the room, Philip pushed the door shut from where he'd been hiding behind it. He raised a gun and shot the hired man in the head.
Miracle screamed, sitting in one of the dining chairs, his arms handcuffed behind it and a gag in his mouth, Jack standing beside him and a few other members were scattered about the room.
Eric's head jerked around when his man fell to the ground and he watched Philip and reached into his pocket, withdrawing his own gun. "Front and center." He aimed the gun at Philip.
Jack nodded towards Philip, who walked around and grinned at Eric and then moved to the other side of Miracle.
Issac looked at Miracle, feeling helpless as he tugged and yanked against the cuffs, knowing it was pointless but he didn't want to just give in. His hands then started wiggling as he tried to work the cuffs off.
Miracle screamed into the gag and then found Jack removing it. "Let Issac go! He...he's not...it's not his fault!" Miracle looked down, shaking his head. "Just let him go..."
Eric grinned at Miracle. "You want me to let him go?" He looked at Issac and then shoved him forward. "Lets let Issac go." His arm then swung up and he shot Issac in the back of the neck.
Issac's eyes widened and then he fell to the ground only for Eric to fire another round into his head.
Miracle's eyes widened, Issac's blood splattered him as he watched him fall to his feet. He looked up at Eric. "Why did you do that?!"
"He scarred me." Eric lightly kicked Issac and then looked up and grinned at Jack. "Who's getting their head blown off next?" He aimed at the man. "How about you?"
Miracle cried, looking down at Issac, haunted by the sight of his open eyes, it was as if he was still there, looking. He looked up at Jack and slowly shook his head. "Don't..."
Jack glanced at Miracle and his free hand balled up into a fist, the anger building, suddenly he regretted the whole thing. If he had just listened to Miracle, if he had just been a good man all along, now this is what it came down to.
Then a fire rang out and Miracle's head jerked up just in time to see Eric fall to the floor. A breath was gasped in and held for the longest time. It was almost unreal, for two years this man has plagued his life, could he really be gone? It was a state of shock, his thoughts rushing, his mind not being able to take in and process the suddenness of everything that had happened.
Jack kneeled down and unhooked the handcuffs, letting them drop to the floor. He looked at Miracle and then stood up. "Lets clear out." Jack walked out of the room and headed down stairs to go outside.
Once the handcuffs were off, Miracle fell from the chair and onto the floor. He wrapped his arms around Issac and cried, loud sobs, hugging him tightly. "You can't be gone! You...don't...be gone..." He shut his eyes tight, several of the members followed Jack, walking out, avoiding the bodies.
Philip grinned and then tossed his gun to the side. "And now I get my prize."
Miracle looked up and then gasped as Philip snatched him up and slung him towards the bed. He landed on the bed and tried to get back up only to have Philip dive on top of him again. Miracle screamed, slapping, kicking, fighting like hell against him.
"Stop!" Philip grabbed one of Miracle's wrists and slammed it down as his other hand reached down and yanked at Miracle's jeans, causing the button to snap and the zipper came down as he continued to pull and tug.
"Get off me!" Miracle screamed, his mind flashing back to Brad and his friends, thinking about how much he wanted to fight back. He slapped Philip across the face and then reached up and clawed at the bed, trying to pull himself free.
That was when the glass door to the balcony shattered as Jaemin jumped through it and rolled onto the floor. He grabbed the gun that Philip dropped and stood up, the other two members that stood by and just watched ran out of the room. Jaemin fired at them, several rounds until the gun was empty of what it had left. He dropped it and turned around, diving on top of Philip, trying to pull him off.
Miracle finally reached the nightstand and yanked the drawer open and grabbed Hunters pistol out, the one he had been given when Hunter got a new one. He brought it around and shot Philip in the face. Blood splattered and poured all over him. Miracle cried, dropping the gun and trying to get out from under Philip.
Jaemin pulled back when hearing the gun fire and then he pushed Philip off of Miracle, rolling him over to the other side of the bed.
Miracle climbed off the bed and stood up, looking down at his trembling hands and then he ran them down his shirt, covered in blood and his face soaked in tears. He looked around and then heard the jaguar speeding off down the road. His eyes then drifted over to Jaemin who he found staring at Issac.
Jaemin stared into Issac's eyes, the haunting sight. He looked around, the whole scene a terror. He walked away from the bed, hauntingly calm but inside, incredibly shocked and disturbed. He then headed down the stairs.
"Jaemin?" Miracle cried out in a soft tone, looking down at his hands before he moved to follow, all the way down the stairs, only to find Jaemin sitting down in the door way of the opened front door.
"Jaemin?" Miracle called again, but there was still no response from his lover. Miracle slowly moved over to where he sat and kneeled down in front of him, to look in his eyes.
Jaemin wasn't there anymore. The light that had shined in his eyes had faded, it had faded away like a light bulb that was losing its battle.
Miracle fell against him, his hand clinging into Jaemin's shirt and he cried himself to sleep.
Miracle's eyes opened, seeing it was still dark, he wasn't sure how long he had slept but he noticed he was laying on the floor, Jaemin wasn't there. He pushed himself up. "Jaemin?" He grabbed the door frame and stood up, walking back into the living room. "Where are you?" He walked down the hall.
Jaemin sat on the floor in Miracle's old bedroom, having come to probably the biggest realization of his life since he met Miracle, the beginning and now understanding the end as memories filled his mind.
"I just wonder when we can be sure that it's safe." He looked up at Jaemin. "You only get one senior year...and eventually you can't go back and redo it, at least not the normal way."
Jaemin nodded. "I understand and I don't want to rob you of that Miracle, I don't want to rob you of anything but...I also don't want to break you."
Jaemin mumbled. "What happened to us, Miracle?"
"I think about times...like when we went to the empire state building or the moments we spent in your room, just small times." Jaemin said.
"You know what happened, Eric stole that from us."
"How can a man steal feelings?" Jaemin turned around and looked at Miracle. "How can he steal moments like that from happening again? Those things are supposed to be able to happen anywhere."
He stared at Jaemin thoughtfully. "Time...does things to people, life does things to people. People do things to people."
"Now I just...feel so empty." He looked at Jaemin. "Pissing you off is just a cheap thrill...that's all that I seem to do, look for cheap thrills. Why not? Nothing is ever permanent anymore."
"Not even us?" Jaemin asked.
"Not when we don't even know each other or ourselves." Miracle mumbled. "You would of never been afraid at that bar, at least not the you that I remember..."
Miracle started off down the hall, walking beside Jaemin. "I guess when I actually get close to people, I just want to taste as many possible lives as I can...as many people as I can. Everyone is so different. Think about it, Jaemin. If every where you went, people wanted you, how could you..."
"How could I not be tempted? How could I not wonder why? How could I not wonder what if? How could I not want to find out?" Jaemin looked at Miracle. "It's endless questions, endless possibilities."
"So wanting to go home so bad, it's partly because of us?" Jaemin asked.
"It's mostly because of us." Miracle stopped and looked at him. "You are all I have left that is familiar...and we're both so lost that we're losing each other, we need our friends and our family, they are who keep us grounded. They do so much in making us...happen."
"It's a lie..." Miracle cried. "Why throw a dream at someone, make them think it can happen? What fucked up kind of person does that? You know what kind! David! He did that!"
He leaned back, tears trailing down his cheeks. "When you're on top of the world, you forget it all, right?"
Jaemin nodded. "That's right. It's where all of your troubles fade away, you rise above."
Miracle nodded and looked out of the window. "But...it's like trying to recreate something that doesn't exist anymore."
"What do you mean, it doesn't exist anymore?" Jaemin asked.
"Change." Miracle cried, shaking his head. "Everything has changed...so this can't be the same too. Nothing can be the same."
"That's not true. Whatever we want to be the same, for us, it can be the same." Jaemin said.
"That's what my Dad told my Mom." Miracle said. "She told me, the last Fourth of July they had together. She was scared that everything would change. He said, he told her, it didn't have to, it was in their power." Miracle shook his head. "Then he disappeared."
Jaemin frowned. "Miracle, that was them, this is us."
"It's life. It's how it is, change, the further you go on, it changes...and it changes." He wiped his face.
"So long as we're together, that's all that matters." Jaemin said
"Then why do I feel so all alone? I could not be alone and feel alone." Miracle looked down.
"Miracle, please, we didn't come up here to create a sad moment. I don't want that."
"Jaemin...you're still so far away. The distance is still there." Miracle looked up at him. "We came home, we came back here...and I don't feel any closer. I need you and you're there but you're away."
Jaemin's eyes began to tear up. "How am I away?"
"Whatever made us come together, whatever made us love, it's not there. All that we have...is that we want to be, but..what made us be, it's gone." Miracle looked down at the floor.
That was when Jaemin reached into his pocket and he pulled out the locket and looked down at it. The moment you're free is the moment I live to see.
That, along with all the memories, that was when he realized what he had to do. In order to live to see Miracle be free, he had to let him go in that same moment, otherwise, he would be trapped in a want that would never be the same. All the pieces came together in those flood of memories. He then took out his phone.
"This is my confession." Jaemin stared at his phone, recording video. "First..I killed Brad...and then I killed my sister, Melanie. More importantly, this message is for you, Miracle. You're not going to understand, but now I finally understand. I lived to see you close to free..but so long as you cling to me, you will never truly be free. The locket, the message that means so much to you. The dream that you thought would never come true? Well, I'll make it happen for you. I have to set you free...and maybe some time from now..you will be happy again, just like the day you were on the beach as a child. You have to let me go, you will never truly be free until..well, until the last thing you have left is gone."
Jaemin looked down, his eyes shut tight. "To start new, you have to lose everything. Maybe, I know, one day you will look back, you'll be in a good place...and you'll understand." Jaemin then stopped the video and saved it.
Miracle stood in the doorway, having heard half of what Jaemin was saying. His eyes widened and he watched Jaemin lay the phone down and noticed Hunters pistol laying beside it. "W...what are you doing?"
Jaemin picked up the gun and looked at Miracle. The last thing he wanted was to do this in front of him but he knew he had to, in the future, it would pay off. He hoped for that, dreamed for that, for Miracle.
Jaemin placed the gun in his mouth.
Miracle's eyes widened. "No!" He ran into the room and then he stopped and looked away when he heard the shot. He looked at Jaemin just as his arm fell and his grip loosened on the gun. Miracle collapsed to his knees right then and there.
His mouth fell open, the tears streamed down his face, yet the pain was so much, more than he had ever felt before. He couldn't cry out, he couldn't speak, he was frozen in a painful shock. He then looked down at Jaemin's hand and reached forward, taking the locket out of his hand. That's when he shook and began to cry.
Miracle left home and ended up sitting at the old train station and looked out, seeing the sun barely rising. He held the locket and looked at it, a hand wiped his face but the tears kept pouring, he didn't even feel like he could breath, and then he looked up and saw a train coming.
"That's your life...like a train wreck." Miracle slipped off of the wooden platform and walked onto the train tracks. He looked down at the locket and then put it on. He then looked up, seeing the headlights of the train as it headed towards him. He took a deep breath and slightly lifted his arms out, waiting for it, waiting to be free.
