Vignettes - 2. Ignored

You know it’s over when he spends idle time with his back toward you. Looking at you means he has to think about you. Miles doesn’t want me in his thoughts anymore. I can’t even remember when we had our last kiss.

He sits, way over there, pretending to be engrossed, but he isn’t. Miles is randomly shuffling through envelopes. He’d rather do that than deal with me. It’s only a matter of time! I can feel it.

Finally Miles bothered to notice me.

“What. Why are you wearing that frown Ian?”

“Why don’t you ever kiss me anymore?” There! I said it!

Miles stretched across the bed and made me breathless with one of his amazing kisses.

“Ian, I kissed you ten minutes ago before I got the morning mail. Here’s a letter from your Mom.”

These are very 'delicate.' That's pretty amazing. Your first sentence had my stomach turning – it was like, 'Oh, NO, are things really that bad between the boys again?!' But then by the end, we see it's all just a figment of the imagination.

Pretty brilliant. And very well written too. Thanks for doing these; they're quickly becoming a highlight to look forward to.

Thanks AC!

I find it fascinating how much I'm beginning to understand these guys in only 305 words of two scenes in this un-story :)

Glad I could produce a happy surprise!

I think your touch with these chapters is great--yo pack a lot into a short piece of writing. And, I really like Miles and Ian--they are in for an 'interesting' relationship, which means they will never be bored. :)
I look forward to more of their story, and especially how they met!
More please!

I've never done anything like this

Lovely, very cute, and wonderfully economical writing. AC used "delicate;" I might suggest "crystalline." Anyway, these are fun, and probably exquisite torture to produce. Or maybe just a lot of fun to write. Or both. Excellent reads, though.

I'm going to be cautious about trusting Ian. He set me up both times, but I love it. The ending priceless. I like how concise the pieces are, and still amazingly satisfying. Can't wait for more...
Well done SkinnyD

Thanks for the nice words Parker!

I'm gonna choose "a lot of fun to write" if you don't mind.

Ian is a little needy, lol. I enjoyed it, I hope it was meant to make me laugh because I did. No kiss in 10 minutes and it's all over. Perfect.

Thanks Defiance! Aw ...poor Ian.

I recently read a piece in The New Yorker about the old Time magazine practice of returning an article to the author with 'Green #' if they wanted him to delete whatever number of words. I use that repeatedly when creating these. It's marvelously effective!

Ian, needy? ...hehe

I'm working on one that'll turn the tables though. :) It'll probably be #6 or something. I hope you'll still be reading them.

Lol, I love your response to AC's review! This un-story! lol :)

As Tim said, Ian is very needy. This insecurity is not a good thing for a relationship. Ian needs to take calming breaths and not freak out so much. If he continues this, Miles will really get tired of it, and that's when trouble will really start.

Thanks for reading and reviewing Lisa!

At least this are quick reads, huh?

I'm not sure how far I can go with this un-story, hehe, but maybe we can discover a bit about the boys by this fractured method.

So adorable!

I gotta agree with Ian, ten minutes can feel like a very long time :P I really like his over-the-top exaggerations, whether it's the decaf crisis or being forever ignored. :D Ian is so endearing, I just want to hug him!

Thank you Skinny for writing this chapter

Hehe Yep!

Ian is endearing, that's for sure. He'd better be or who knows what poor Miles would think. They seem perfect for each other at this stage of their relationship.

Thanks for taking the time to read and add a comment.

First I thought Ian might be a conceited in their relationship. But after seeing our PiBoy's comment, I changed my opinion. May be love might makes you vulnerable. Lovelier.
