Peter's Probationary Poems - 3. For my Loved One - Poetry Prompt 7 - Blank Verse
For my Loved One
When I fall asleep in my comfy chair,
on waking there’s a blanket covering me.
When I come home after a day of work,
the table is prepared, the wineglass full.
When troubling thoughts keep me awake at night,
your hand finds mine in reassuring touch.
When I’m alone, for you have gone abroad,
I find your note with some endearing words.
These little acts express your deep felt love,
more than my small poem could ever do.
Write a poem in ten lines of blank verse (defined in the usual way as non-rhyming iambic pentameter) as an address to a friend or a loved one. OR, if you're feeling adventurous, write a speech (or speeches) for a character (or characters) whom you've created, all in blank verse.
