Just some words - 6. My muse

My muse has been rather quiet as of late ...

My muse

drowses now beneath

Summer’s oppressive weight

somnambulent and bleary-eyed

he peers upon this mortal realm

without a word he yawns

and drifts quietly

away.

They are lil F*krs dugh.. muses. Wander off, take unannounced vacations, sit across from you and laff because you're useless without them ... but then ... then they are back. Tossing their heads, kissing your cheek, asking innocently 'whatever is the trouble baby?' like they didn't know!!
Don't worry dugh.. one morning when the sun kisses the earth in a most special way, your muse will be back and you will write.
much love

I forced him a bit today. The new migraine med makes me feel flat and I afraid he'd gone for good but this morning he openned his eyes and said okay this is how it is ... Thanks for reading and reviewing it's very much appreciated.

Love it. Yes, in the high heat of the day, sometimes a siesta is the best resort. Muses too need time to recharge, and I'm sure your fella (love the male reference to him in the poem, btw ;) ) will be up and ready to take your hand.

Wonderful poem!

Thank you AC. My muse is definitely male. Brookgreen Gardens is near my parents home in SC. It is a large sculpture garden and wildlife preserve. One of the features is called the Muses and is a collection of bronze sculptures skipping across the water. If I recall correctly there are twelve and all but one are males. It's a favorite of mine when my mother and I visit.

Yeah, they just won't play fair sometimes, our muses. They either knock you down and be the pain in the you-know-what. :gikkle:

But Dugh, your poem was excellent and its kinda situational because of the heat tantrum all over the world. Yeah, most of the world. I hate this heat, even though its rainy season here. But I liked your poem... :)

~Emi.

Thank you Emi. I'm glad you like it. I suspect in 6 months some of us will complain about the cold.

Thank you. You're very kind. A change in migraine meds silenced my muse. I miss his whispers.

I have to address the idea that medication is the inspiration for art. Medication may have made you more aware of the voice of your muse, but the art is within you. That voice - that muse -  is yours

And it is still there. Look for it. Don't let it go, because it has much to offer!

I know the meds aren't my muse. I know he's still there. Just sleeping. I jostle him from time to time. He simply grumbles at me. He'll have something to say again one day I'm sure.
