The Hollow Hills

I was resolved to read three chapters a day.  I was successful...for a few days. That was followed by binge reading most of the book in one day! It is that good.  Valkyrie is in the top tier of writers of gay fiction anywhere. She creates a beautiful world in The Hollow Hills horse farm.  She gets you tangled into the emotions of her marvellous characters then takes you for an emotional coaster ride through love, sadness, hate, fear, hope, joy and a dozen other emotions. 

Galen is recovering from a cheating husband he has known since high school.  When he returns to his home town to start again Galen's cousin, Liam, introduces him to Josh.

Do you believe in love at first sight? What happens after? This is a compelling story about a road to love, dangerous and rarely taken.  It is gripping, realistic tale filled with hope and love.

This is a wonderful story about two men who struggle to communicate how much they love each other.  Will they get their HEA?  You better read on!  You won't regret it.

This book is fantastic! I could not stop reading it. It is more than 'boy meets boy, picket fences and a dog'. 
It is descending into the depths of hell and ascending to a better life. 
Each character is a perfect addition to the story, with their own backstory and their own function in the development of the story.

This story got me horribly frustrated, horrified at times, but it also made me laugh, cry and feel the reality of hope inspired by love. 

Beautifully written, Hollow Hills, is a tale of the power of love between two men who overcame obstacles, some of them self-made, when they finally learned to talk and to trust. 

An excellent read.

I just loved this book. A beautifully written story about Galen and Josh, a budding love crushed by a horrific, traumatising event,and their fight to prove that love conquers all. Sensitively written, and hearbreaking to read at times (I cried many tears), it made compelling reading that I would recommend to anyone on the site. As I said at the beginning, just loved it!

The Hollow Hills has been one of the first stories I read at GA site. At the same time, it was one of the first stories I've been reading that deals with heavy topics as rape and mental issues. I was shocked and positively surprised that GA authors are not writing only about love, romance and sex. Of course I like all of that, crowned with HEA, but life is so much more - life is good and bad, happiness and sadness, ups and downs...

In a story of Galen and Joshua, settled on a beautiful horse farm, @Valkyrie is telling us that life is not always road of roses, there are many thorns along the road too. 

I enjoyed the story overall, although there were some difficult spots. Every story has to have some drama and the author has posted appropriate warnings, which should be noted. However, I think the story would have benefited from toning down some of the more graphic details. The story was realistic with all the ups and downs of romance, although (spoiler alert) it is pretty clear from the start that the two main characters will end up together. Interesting setting, which was new to me, and reinforces the need for communication and unconditional love. The story has a nice rounded conclusion at the end. I appreciated the editing - good grammar, good spelling and good punctuation and the story flows smoothly. I understand there is a follow-up story to this, which I must read next. I have given it four stars, but I really wanted to give it four and a half stars.
