Lyrical Laments - 26. Chapter 26 Be My Valentine
Be My Valentine
I’ve had my share of Valentines
Some good, but some real bad
Enough I drew some rigid lines
No more chocolates from a cad
My vases are all empty today
Nary a gas station flower in sight
Only a sweet dog at my side lay
A single wine glass filled this night
Don’t get me wrong, I love romance
And I’m a sucker for a good heart
But I want no man who drops his pants
In the back stall of a Quickie Mart
I may sound bitter to your ears
And if you judge me you’d be right
Too many false gestures o’er the years
From ones since told to go fly a kite
This cupid-arrow day is for the young
Those yet to be shot in the ass
But it might be best I hold my tongue
And hope I’ll attract a man with class
